PENNELL, GEORGE W. MRS.

Atchison Globe, January 3, 1882

The people of the city will be distressed beyond measure to learn that Mrs. George Pennell died last night at 11:30 o'clock, of congestion of the brain. Two hours before her death she gave birth to two boy babies, and came out of the trial in a very satisfactory manner. She had been complaining for several hours of terrible pains in her head, but as she was subject to headaches, it was not thought to be serious. At ten o'clock she was alarmingly ill, and in spite of the prompt assistance of the doctor, she died at 11:30. Both babes are doing well. Notice of the funeral will be given tomorrow.

Atchison Globe, January 5, 1882

Mrs. George W. Pennell was buried this morning at 9 o'clock, from Trinity church, at Mt. Vernon cemetery. The church was crowded to its greatest capacity with friends of the deceased to witness the impressive ceremonies. Before the body was taken to the church the twin babies were christened at the residence. Mrs. Pennell's sister, Mrs. Small, will take them both with her to Wilmington, Illinois.
