ARRINGTON, LYNN R.

Funeral services will be at the Hilyard Funeral Home, Douglass at 10:30 Thursday morning for Lynn R. Arrington, 71, who died at his home in Douglass, Sunday.

lders W. E. Landers and Ralston Jenning will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Douglass cemetery.

Lynn R. Arrington was born at Kirwin on June 8, 1901, the son of Joel Summerfield and Emily Arrington.

He lived in the Wichita and Douglass area most of his life and moved to Douglass in 1948.

Survivors include his widow, Marion, four sons, Lynn, Jr., Robert and Jerry all of Wichita, and Joe of Irving, Tex., a brother, Lyle Arrington of Wichita and six grandchildren. (Douglass Tribune, December 13, 1972)

BACON, MAUDE BLANCHE

Maude Blanche Bacon, 88, died in the Green Meadow Nursing Home, Haysville, Kansas, September 4, 1972. For the past 10 years she has been bedfast and lived in care homes.

Maude was born to John and Clarinda Chance, October 23, 1883 at Mount Etna, Kansas. She had four sisters, and two brothers.

Maude was married to Floyd Bacon, February 27, 1905 and lived on a farm west of Douglass, Kansas. Floyd preceded her in death in 1955. They had no children.
Maude was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include one brother, W. T. Chance, Douglass, Kansas, one sister, Bertha clinger, Rose Hill, Kansas and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Douglass United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 1972.

Rev. B. E. Faulkner was the officiating clergy.

Mrs. C. A. Ogg played organ solos, "In the Garden," and "Ivory Palaces."

Bearers were Roy Levis, Sam Davis, Clair Scott, Lowell Keely, Loren Burns and Raymond Essex.

BLOOD, CLARENCE P.

Clarence P. Blood, 95, was a lifelong resident of the Douglass, Kansas community and died in St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, Thursday, August 10, 1972 at 5:00 a.m.

He was born to Dewitt and Della Blood, August 2, 1877.

Clarence and his father established the Exchange State Bank of Douglass on August 9, 1899. Because of his father's health, they left the bank in 1925.

In December of 1921, he was wed to Vera Hartenbower.

He was a member of the Masonic and Eastern Star Lodges for a number of years.

After his retirement from the bank he and his wife did a great deal of traveling together.

He is survived by his widow of the home and a number of cousins.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, 1972 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hilyard Funearl Home, Rev. B. E. Faulkner, officiating. Mrs. J. A. Perisho sang "In the Garden," and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied on the organ by Mrs. C. A. Ogg.

Bearers were Lew Shafer, Jack Barker, Max Simosen, Gerald Wiseman, Richard Taylor and Seth Rutherford.

Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

CODY, CARL ROBERT

Carl Robert Cody, age 68, died June 17,1972 in Joplin, Missouri. Services were held there.

Survivors include his wife, Linnie a stepdaughter, Ruby and two grandsons. Also four sisters, Bessie White, Douglass, Alice Hollingsworth, Wichita Hazel Mauk and Cleo Novak, both of Augusta; four brothers, Ed Cody of Joplin, Missouri, George Cody of Douglass, Frank Cody of El Dorado, and Walter Cody of Joplin, Missouri.
Funeral services will be conducted for Orval Everett Stiner, of 617 South Willow, Douglass, Kansas, at the Douglass Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 29.

Allan Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery. Hilyard Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Stiner was killed in a one car accident Sunday afternoon near Douglass.

Orval Everett Stiner, 47, was born on October 19, 1924, at Depew, Oklahoma, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stiner.

An employee of Boeing Aircraft for 21 years, he has lived in Douglass, Kansas for the past 21 years. He was born and raised around Depew and Milfay, Oklahoma until he married Pearl Nadine Nance on September 8, 1949, when he moved to Douglass.

He is survived by his widow, Pearl of the home, six children, Lewis of the home, Jim, stationed in Tokyo, Japan with the Air Force, Narvella, Harvey, Jonnah and Linda all of the home.

Other survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stiner, Milfay Oklahoma, four brothers. (Douglass Tribune, June 29, 1972)

DARTER, JESSE O.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Douglass United Methodist Church for Jesse O. Darter, 87, who died Friday. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

Jesse O. Darter, was born at Douglass, Oct. 24, 1885 the son of Alvin and Cora Darter. He was a retired barber and a lifetime resident of Douglass.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, on June 24, 1953.

Survivors include five sons, Jesse W. Darter, Alvin Darter, and Richard Darter, all of Douglass, Harry E. Darter of Wichita and Thomas Darter of Springfield, O.; one daughter, Genevieve Geren of Wichita, a half-brother, Lee Carter of Independence, Mo., a half-sister, Mrs. Hazel Anderson of Sunny valley, Calif., 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. GLAVES, HARLEY I.

Services were held for Harley I. Glaves, age 58, January 25, Thursday at the Douglass Methodist Church at 2 o'clock p.m.

Rev. B. E. Faulkner officiated, Mrs. C. A. Ogg played as organ soloes "In the Garden," and "How Great Thou Art."

Bearers were Clayton Brandon, Lee Perisho, Wilbur Barnes, Alvin Darter, Bob Haaga and Bill Cline. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

HALL, FRANCIS MARION

Francis Marion Hall was born January 26, 1921 at Burden, Kansas, the son of Elsie and Elvina Eastman Hall. He passed away December 10, 1972 as a result of an automobile accident.

On April 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Maree Cousins of Wichita and to this union was born three children.

He was a World War II Veteran. He served as a Medic with the Ranger Battalion in North Africa and Italy. He was a prisoner of War eighteen months, escaped once but was recaptured by the Germans.

At the time of his death he was employed by Butler County Community Junior College in El Dorado in the Maintenance Department.

He is survived by his widow Maree, daughter, Janis McGee of Douglass, a son, Ronald Hall of Derby, a daughter, Linda Brumley of Douglass, a daughter-in-law Shirley Hall of Derby, a granddaughter Kristine McGee and a grandson Chad Brumley; a sister Neva Simmons of Winfield, a brother Vernon Hall also of Winfield and many friends.

He has been a resident of Douglass for twelve years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 13, 1972 at 2 o'clock p.m. in the Douglass United Methodist Church, Rev. B. E. Faulkner officiating.

Mrs. C. A. Ogg played as organ soloes: "Old Rugged Cross," and "How Great Thour Art."

Bearers were Glen Leimer, Vernon Peterson, R. H. Ensz, Howard Clements, Ronald Seager and Roy Seymour.

Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery. Hilyard Funeral Home in charge.

A memorial has been established at the juco to be used as a scholarship through the division of fine arts. Anyone wishing to contribute may do so by contacting Robert Chism at the college. The memorial scholarship will be used to help students interested in drama, music or art. (Douglass Tribune, December 21, 1972)

MacKAY, LILLIE

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Douglass Church of Christ for Mrs. Lillie MacKay,86, who died last Friday. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

Mrs. MacKay was born near Mulvane and was a lifelong resident of the Douglass Mulvane area. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1967.

Survivors include three sons, Raymond and Charles, both of Douglass and Harold of Rose Hill and three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Goeldner and Mrs. Mildred Pickett, both of Derby and Mrs. Lucille Walton of Rose Hill. (Douglass Tribune, January 31, 1972)

McMILLAN, PAUL V.

Paul V. McMillian, age 79, died at Oklahoma City Nursing Home on September 20, 1972.

The son of Finley and Lillah McMillan, he was born August 3, 1893 at Douglass, Kansas. He lived here in the Douglass Community all of his life. He was a retired tool dresser and oil driller, a W. W. I. veteran, member of American Legion and the Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held at 2 o'clock p.m. on Friday, September 22, 1972, at the Douglass Cemetery.

Rev. B. E. Faulkner officiated.

Survivors include his two nieces, Mrs. Merry Harlow Briscoe of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Zillah Richardson of California. (Douglass Tribune, September 28, 1972)

PIPER, DELMER MRS.

Funeral services will be held at the Douglass Christian Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Delmer Piper, 89, who died Thursday at the Colonial Manor at Douglass. The Rev. C. W. Reed will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

Mrs. Piper was born at Douglass, Feb. 1, 1883, the daughter of John and Eva Graves. She lived in the Douglass community during her entire lifetime.

She was a member of the Douglass Christian church a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Isabella Chapter of DAR at Augusta.

Survivors include a grandson, Keith Bush of Douglass and a granddaughter Mrs. Phillip Lathrap of Lafayette, Calif. (Douglass Tribune, November 24, 1972)

ROTH, LOISA M.

Mrs. Loisa M. Roth, age 80 years, died December 15, 1972, at the Colonial Manor in Douglass, Kansas.

The daughter of Timothy and Mary Blaubaugh Sapp was born January 29, 1892 at Douglass, Kansas. She was life time resident of this community.

She was preceded in death by her husband B. R. Roth, March 28, 1968, her parents, her sister, Cecelia Kuntz, two brothers, Demetrius Sapp and Arecia Sapp.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Agnes C. Schoonover.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock p.m., December 18, at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta, Kansas.

Father Riley officiated. Bearers were Arthur Johnston, John Johnston, David Johnston, Raymond Kuntz, Edward Kuntz, and Frank Kuntz.

WARD, AMES RONALD

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. for James Ronald Ward, son of Millie Jo and Ronald Ward of Hurricane, West Virginia.

Funeral services were held earlier this week in West Virginia.

The graveside services will be conducted at the Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, Kansas. Hilyard Funeral Home in charge.

Ward was killed in an automobile accident last Sunday.

Survivors include his parents, mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ward, Hurricane West Virginia, two sisters, Susan and Jolene at home, and grandmother, Mrs. Mildred Glaves, Douglass. (Douglass Tribune, August 24, 1972)

WOODS, BRYAN

Funeral services will be held at the Hilyard Funeral Home at Douglass at 2:30 Sunday afternoon for Bryan Woods, 76, who died at Springfield, Mo., Thursday. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

He was a former resident of Douglass.

Survivors include his widow, Lois of Stella, Mo., a son, Arthur Woods, of Hutchinson and a brother, Ernest Woods of Derby. (Douglass Tribune, November 10, 1972)

WRIGHT, BOBBIE JO

Services were held for Bobbie Jo Wright, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright at the douglass Cemetery last Thursday, January 27 at 10:30 a.m.

ASMUSSEN, MABEL

Funeral services will be held at the Douglass United Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon for Mabel Asmussen, 78, of Douglass, who died Thursday. The Rev. B. E. Faulkner will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

Mabel Assmussen was born Sept. 7, 1895 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Jesse Sherman and Sarah Jane (Lillibridge) Assmussen

Survivors include a number of cousins, Audrey, Clay, and Anna Bowers of Douglass, as well as Mildred Roche, Carl Asmussen, Rea Ciesler and O. Dennis, addresses unknown. (Douglass Tribune, April 1974)

BALL, SHIRLEY

Funeral services were held at the Rock United Methodist church Thursday afternoon for Shirley Ball, 46, of Rock, who died Tuesday at Winfield. The Rev. B. E. Faulkner conducted the services. Interment was in the Douglass cemetery.

Shirley Ball was born Jan. 6, 1928 at Britain, Okla., the daughter of Wells and Mabel Antel Ward. She was married to Andrew Ball at VanBuren, Ark., on Sept. 5, 1948.

She was a member of the Rock United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include her widower; a son, Dennis Lee Ball of St. George; a brother, Keith Ward of Wichita, a sister, Mrs. Connie Ferguson of Borger, Tex.; and her mother, Mrs. Mabel Shackelford of Rock. (Douglass Tribune, April 2, 1974)

BERG, WILDA (MRS HARRY)

Funeral services were held at the Hilyard-Smith Funeral Home in Douglass at 2 o'clock Friday, afternoon for Mrs. Harry Berg (Wilda), 91 of Douglass. She died Tuesday January 8, 1974. The Rev. Darrell Hoffmaster, pastor of the Christian Church at Douglass, conducted the services. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

Mrs. Berg was born at McPherson on Oct. 6, 1882, the daughter of Sarah and Joseph (Mew) Rosenberry. She was married to Harry Berg at El Dorado on Feb. 22, 1911.

She was a lifetime resident of Douglass.

Mrs. J. A. Perisho, accomp;anied by Mrs. C. A. Ogg, sang "Beyond the Sunset," and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers were Roger Payton, David Whitney, Leonard W Payton , C. S. Scott, Lee Perisho, and Wilford Darter.

Survivors include two brothers, Joe Rosenberry of Winfield and Dr. W. W. Rosenberry of Riverside, Calif., a sister, Mrs. Flossie Pendergraft of Winfield and several nephews.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral service of Wilda Berg were: Dr. Jerry Smith, Baytown, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith, Franklin, La., Mr. and Mrs. Gene Newton, Geneva Newton, Gay Knollenberg, Joe Rosenberry, Mr. and Mrs. John Watt, Winfield, and Mrs. Ellen Malay of Wichita. CASE, LAWRENCE

Funeral services will be held at the Dunsford Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon for Lawrence C. Case, 68, of Douglass, who died at the Colonial Manor at Douglass Friday. The Rev. Amos Williams will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

Lawrence Case was born Nov. 29, 1906, the son of Charles and Harriet (Johnson) Case.

Survivors include a brother, Michael Case of Jonesville, N.C.; a half brother, Dewey Lanan of Nevada, eight nieces, Doris McCoy, Velma McCoy, Mary Ellen McCoy, and Hazel Smith of Newton, Grace Moore of Valley Center, Anna Bass and Mary Weston of Augusta and Nancy Mifflin of Mulvane; and three nephews, Lawrence Mifflin of Griswold, Iowa, Delbert and Herbie McCoy. COOLEY, MAUDE

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon November 6 at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church of Douglass for Miss Maude Cooley, age 97, a life-long resident of this area. Miss Cooley was born March 15, 1876 near Douglass to Tom and Ida Whitney Cooley. She attended Northwestern University was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, a member of the First Christian Church of Douglass and taught dramatics in Douglass for many years.

Casket bearers for their service were Lawrence Alley, Vernon Wallace, Chet Seal and D. O. Fivecoate. Rev. Darrel Hoffmaster officiated. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery.

Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Guyla Steuart of Granite City, Illinois, Mrs. Helen Bridgeman of Denver, Colorado, one nephew: Eidson Cooley of Winfield. Two great nieces: Mrs. Bob (Leota) Newman and Mrs. Bill (Austie) Graves, and two great nephews: Harold and Bill Cooley, all of Douglass.

GOBLE, ADA MAE

Graveside funeral services for Ada Mae Goble were held Wednesday March 6, 1974, at 2:00 p.m in the Douglass Cemetery. Rev. B. F. Faulkner officiating. She died Tuesday, March 5, 1974 in Colonial Manor Nursing Home.

Mrs. Goble was born June 14, 1898 in Rock, Kansas to Louis and Emma (Hume) Kaats. She married Lester Goble in 1923 in Newkirk, Okla. Mr. Goble passed away in 1955.

Survivors include one brother Jerry Kaats of Douglass.

JONES, WILLIAM EARL

William Earl Jones, 74, of 5641 South Broadway, Haysville, passed away Wednesday, September 26, in Wichita. He was a retired farm hand in the Rock area.

ervices were conducted in the Hilyard Smith Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m Saturday, September 29. Rev. John Brewer of the Rainbow Tabernacle Holiness Church in Wichita officiated. Burial was in the Douglass Cemetery.

Survivors include a son, Stanley E. Jones, Las Vegas, Nevada, a daughter, Mrs. Mabel Monday, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three sisters, Mrs. Ada Kayser, St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Effie Jones, Paragould, Arkansas and Mrs. Dena Watson of Granite City, Illinois. (Douglass Tribune, October 4, 1973)

KNOLLENBERG, GERHARD H.

Funeral services for Gerhard H Knollenberg, Jr., age 82, of 1304 Hackney in Winfield were held Monday, February 18, 1974 at 2:00 p.m. in Hilyard Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Darrel Hoffmaster of the Douglass First Christian Church officiating. Interment was in the Douglass Cemetery. Mrs. J. C. Seal accompanied. Mrs. J. A. Perisho who sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casketbearers were Bud Atkinson, Clyde Watt, Jody Rosenberry, Gerald Dennett, Melvin Martin and Lester Knollenberg.

Gerhard Henry Knollenbberg, Jr., was born January 31, 1892 in Peoria, Illiniois to Gerhard and Lena Krusemark Knollenberg. He passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 1974 in Highland Manor Nursing Home in Winfield. He married Mabel Nettie Rosenberry on Dec. 24, 1914. She passed away Sept. 3, 1973. Mr. Knollenberg was retired from farming and owned a grocery store at one time in Douglass.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. John (Vergie) Watt of Winfield and 4 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Coonrod, Anson, Texas; Mrs. Lawrence Brandon, Wichita; Mrs. Katie Hein, Douglass; and Mrs. Ray Prigmore of Augusta; one grandson and 3 great-grandchildren.

STICKMAN, WILLIAM M. (BILL)

William M. (Bill) Stickman, 87, of R. R. #2 Douglass, passed away Friday, September 14, 1973 at the Mid America Nursing Center in El Dorado, Kansas.

He was born in Douglass, Kansas on December 17, 1885 to Louis and Adeliden Maybelle Stickman. He was a retired oil field and railroad worker.

Graveside services were held Monday, September 17 at 2:00 p.m. in the Douglass Cemetery with Pastor Darrell Hoffmaster officiating. Hilyard Smith Funeral

WILLIAMS EULA ESSIE

Eula Essie Williams died March 29, 1974, at the Wichita Ostepathic Hospital. She was born July 20, 1906 in Oakland, Arkansas to John and Elizabeth Wilson. She married Charles Homer Williams on March 22, 1924. They were married 50 years and 1 week. She was a member of the Southern Baptist Church of Mulvane and a Sunday School teacher for 11 years.

Survivors include: her husband, Charles; 1 daughter, Mrs. Lee (Mary Frances) Gurnee, 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Stout, and Mrs. Richard (Vicki)

eamer, 2 great-granddaughters, Heidi and Heather Stout, 1 great-grandson, Justin Lee Beamer.

WILLIAMS, LANCE J.

Funeral services will be held at the Hilyard Smith Funeral Home at Douglass for Lance J. Williams 62, who died at Wesley Medical Center at Wichita, Tuesday. The Rev. Ronald D. Pierson, pastor of the Prairie Hill Southern Baptist Church will conduct the services. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery.

Lance Williams was born Aug. 15, 1911 in Missouri, the son of Edgar and Elizabeth (Jenkins) Williams. He was married to Anna McKay at Douglass on Dec. 25, 1933.

He was a Butler County Highway Department road maintenance employee at the time of his death.

Survivors include his widow of Augusta; a son, David Williams of Burden; three daughters, Mrs. Nancy L. Bates of Fort Richardson, Alaska, Mrs. Dorma J. Voigt of Garden Valley, Calif., and Mrs. Judith A. Basquez of Oilton, Okla.; six brothers, Charles Williams of Mulvane, Roy Williams of Oakland, Iowa, Ray Williams of Purdy, Mo., Fred Williams of Douglass, Lawrence Williams of Verona, Mo., Jim Williams of Grenola; and two sisters, Mrs. Eva Doane of Palmdale, Calif., and Mrs. Myrtle Mullin Augusta.
