BUTLER COUNTY'S EIGHTY YEARS BIOS
FRANK CASE
(Transcribed by Peggy Luce)
A picturesque character was that of Frank Case. In a rich degree he was possessed of that elusive quality known as personality. He had an individuality all his own. There was only one Frank Case; the mould in which he was made was broken at his birth. For forty years his big body and kindly face presented a familiar figure in and about El Dorado. And so peculiar was the niche of usefulness which he alone filled that there is none to take his place. He never forgot a friend. He was a hail fellow and his acquaintances ran into thousands. But he was chary of his friendships. Those whom he admitted into the close and rather shy intimacy, hidden behind a great bluff exterior, he grappld to his soul with hoops of steel. His friendships were beautiful and perfect. For Frank Case was steadfast. To his friends he was friend through thick and thin. When the storms beat, his friendship flowered into fullness, and all the staunch and sturdy qualities of his nature came out. El Dorado will long remember him for the delightfulness of his companionship. Wherever he was there was fun and laughter, for he was witty and full of quaint sayings and he loved to hear, and to tell, a good story with a straight face and with the keenest perception and enjoyment. But his memory will abide forever in the town where he lived and worked and spent his useful years because of his simple virtues straightforward dealing, kindliness from a generous heart, and faithfulness of friendship. September 3, 1924.
