Dortha Aitchison, 76, of Augusta, passed away,
Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008.

Dortha was born in Cravens, Ark. on Sept. 10, 1932; the daughter of the late Tommy Radford and Nova Barnett. She
retired as a cook from Walnut Valley Manor. On May 3, 1949 she married Lawton B. Aitchison in Ozark, Ark. He preceded
her in death on June 11, 2005. A brother, Albert Radford; sisters, Shirley Kolenda and Louise Beckman and a nephew,
Brent Rofkar preceded her also.
Her survivors include: son, Charles Aitchison of Augusta; brother, Jerry Patterson of Athens, Ala.; sister, Edna
Gossage of Cecil, Ark.; grandchildren, Edna, Richard and Christina Aitchison; and great- grand kids, Kevin, Cody,
Blake & Destiny.

Roy was born in Ozark, Ark. on May 8, 1931; the son of the late Thomas Morgan and Mary Viola (Dickerson) Aitchison.
On Oct. 1, 1950 he married Ethel (Doss) in Ozark and she survives.
He is also survived by: sons, Roger Aitchison of Longmont, Colo., Tom Aitchison of Augusta, and Dan Aitchison of

ALLISON, REV. BURL ALLISON, JR.
Rev. Burl Allison, Jr., 96, longtime Augusta resident
and local historian, author of 'Augusta, Kansas 1868 - 1990," passed from this life on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2007.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Headley Funeral Chapel, Augusta. Funeral service will be
held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Augusta First United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery,
Augusta.
Burl, the eldest of seven boys, was born to Burl, Sr. and Perna (Diebold ) Allison on March 25, 1911 at Christy
Township, Ill. The family moved to Augusta in the spring of 1922. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1929
and attended Butler County Junior College.
On Dec. 20, 1934 he married Lois Schulz at the Methodist parsonage in Augusta. To this union three children were
born; Stephen, George Michael, and Susan.
Burl owned and operated Allison's Barber Shop for many years until his retirement. He took on a second career as
a Methodist minister and served in the Rosalia and Potwin Methodist Churches, as well as visitation pastor for
the Augusta Methodist Church. He was very active in the Augusta community, serving on the City Council, the School
Board, Chamber of Commerce, Augusta Arts Council, Augusta Historical Society, Augusta Housing Authority, and Kansas
Council on Aging. With help from his wife, Lois, the local Meals-On-Wheels was reorganized and both were instrumental
in forming the Augusta Community Caring Center.
Burl is survived by his children; Stephen Allison and wife, Sue of Wichita, Dr. Mike Allison and wife, Sally of
Great Bend, and Susan Lytton and husband, Bob of Augusta; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by; his wife, Lois; his parents; his brothers, David Allison, John Hugh Allison, Cloyd
Max Allison, Edgar Allison, Russell Allison, Dale Clifford Allison; and grandson, Chris Allison.

On Dec. 20, 1934 she married Burl Allison, Jr. at the Methodist parsonage in Augusta. To this union three children

For many years, she operated a beauty shop out of her home on State Street in Augusta.
She is survived by; her husband, Burl, Jr. of Augusta; sister, Marjorie Bornholdt of Overland Park; her children,
Stephen Allison and wife, Sue of Wichita, Dr. Mike Allison and wife, Sally of Great Bend, and Susan Lytton and
husband, Bob of Augusta; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Millard Schulz and Kenneth Schulz, and grandson, Chris
Allison.
She was a member of Eastern Star and the First United Methodist Church of Augusta.

Mabel was born on Sept. 24, 1920, in Pauls Valley, Okla., the daughter of Otha and Katherine (Cruzan) Branstetter.
She married Ford Ammons on Aug. 30, 1941, in Pauls Valley and moved to Augusta. She worked as a lunchroom cook
and supervisor at Lincoln Elementary School in Augusta for many years and was an active member of the Augusta Church
of Christ. Mabel enjoyed doing craft work in her spare time and loved to help others.
She is survived by: one daughter, Carol Sue (Don) Metzger of Alma, Mich.; son, Calvin Gene Ammons of Wichita; six
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Barton (Alta) Branstetter of Klamath Falls, Ore.; special niece,
Margie Claborn of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Dale was born in El Dorado on June 22, 1930, the son of William and Lillian (Spain) Anderson. He graduated from
El Dorado High School in 1948, graduated Butler County Community College in 1950 and graduated from the University
of Kansas School of Medicine in 1955. He served his residency in Phoenix, Ariz. from 1955-1956 and served as a
Lieutenant in the U S. Navy from 1956-1958. Dr. Anderson opened Augusta Family Practice in 1958 and retired in
1997. On Oct. 8, 1982 he married Dawn (Pennington-Mitchell) in Wichita. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son Cameron Mitchell and wife Karen of Augusta; daughters, Jody Anderson of Wichita,
Sherry Ann Morris and husband Roger of Haysville, Lisa Jaqua and husband Gary, Marianne Morrow and husband Chris,
Michelle Madison and husband Wayne Jr., Renae Anderson and husband Terry, all of Wichita, Sheree Dawn Preston and

Phillip was born on July 24, 1935 in Circleville, Ohio; the son of the late William and Edith (Young) Anderson.
He retired as a machinist from Boeing after 34 years and had served in the U.S. Marines Corp. On Nov. 27, 1958
he married Mary (Simon) at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: sons, Phil Anderson, Jr. and wife, Janet of Augusta, Tom Anderson and

Levi E. Arehart, 85, of Augusta, passed away, Sunday,
Dec. 30, 2007.

3, at Christ Lutheran Church, Augusta. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Levi was born in Hastings, Nebraska on July 29, 1922, the son of the late Yura Lyman and Mary Lovelia (Habben)
Arehart. He graduated the University of Nebraska with a degree in Engineering and served in the U. S. Navy during
WW II as a Lt. Junior Grade. He retired as a research engineer from Boeing in 1981. On April 21, 1945 he married
Phyllis McCullough in Jacksonville, Fla. and she survives.
Other survivors include: son, Phillip Arehart and wife Marsha of Augusta; daughters, Marcia Buckwalter and husband
Brian of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Roberta Bell of Wichita, and Joan Stowell and husband Larry of Paola; brother,
Marvin Arehart and wife Mary of Wilcox, Neb.; grandchildren, James Buckwalter, Amy Paulson, Andrea Donovan, Eric
Bell, Daniel Arehart, Richard Arehart, Levi E. Maness, SP4 Jared Maness, 1st Lt Matthew Maness; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Roland Arehart.

John was born in El Dorado on Nov. 8, 1951; the son of Jose "Joe" and Mary (Valdez) Arredondo. He had
worked as a store manager at Gressel Oil Field Services and had also worked at Mobil and Hizey's. John was an avid
bowler who enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. On April 17, 1970 he married his high school sweetheart,
Jan (Hixon) in Augusta and she survives.
He is also survived by: sons, Chris Arredondo; and Ryan Arredondo and wife Cassie; mother, Mary Arredondo; sister,
Dolores Burrows and husband David, all of Augusta; brother, Joe Arredondo and wife Patty of Wichita; grandchildren,
Jordan, Gage, Dakota, Breanna, Isabella and Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe.

Dec. 20, 2004. She worked in retail sales at Calvert's in Augusta, as well as other places. She had been a school
teacher and apartment manager as well. On July 27, 1936, she married Charles Alex Ash. He preceded her in death.
