the son of the late Ralph H. and Ruby M. (Buxton) Baker. Dean graduated from Rose Hill H.S. in 1945 and from Friends
University in 1951. He also received a THM degree in 1953 from Asbury Seminary in Wilmore, KY and his Master's
of Theology in 1966 from Princeton, NJ. He also served in both WWII and the Vietnam War. On Feb. 2, 1947, he married
Donna Belle Showalter of Rose Hill. During his career in the military, Dean and his wife had the privilege of spending
two of his tours in Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jaclyn Baker.

DERBY - Hall, Jerry "Mike,"
48, seventh grade Life Science teacher for Derby Middle School for 23 years, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004. Visitation
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith Mortuary; funeral service 11
a.m. Wednesday, Derby Friends Church; burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Rose Hill. A memorial service will
be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Derby Middle School Auditorium for student, faculty and friends. Jerry was born May 3,
1955 the son of Jerry Gene and Dorothie Ann (Shank) Hall. On April 16, 1983, he married Sheryl Richardson in Rose
Hill. Mike was a member of Rose Hill Friends Church, where he was active with the Discovery Kids on Wednesday Nights,
taught 2-4 year old Sunday School Class and Church Drama Team. He was involved in DMS Student Council: Boy SCouts
Troop #699; White Feather Ceremony Team; KA-DI-DA-CA (Kansas Diabetes Day Camp) that was held at Spring Haven in
Andover; past director of Diabetes "Camp Discovery" Camps; and participated in DMS Spring and Fall Musical.
Survivors include: wife, Sheryl, Derby; son, Brent, who is attending Barclay College in Haviland, KS; daughter,
Mindi, of the home; parents, Jerry and Dorothie Hall, Tucson, AZ; brother, John Hall, Oklahoma City. Mike was preceded

Mr. Hinshaw was born April 10, 1923 in Rose Hill, to Verlin Chauncy and Florence Mae (McLaughlin) Hinshaw. He had
lived in Wichita from 1955-80, when he moved to Miami, Okla.
He was a mail carrier for the Postal Service in Wichita for 23 years until his retirement in May of 1979.
He was a member of the Miami Friends Church.
He married Dorothy Mae Sherwood on Aug. 5, 1947.
