ANDREWS, JOHN MRS.
A 27 year old El Dorado mother, Mrs. John Andrews, 631 North High died here Wednesday evening. She had been ill
since February 1958. Her condition became critical six weeks ago.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, in the chapel of the Dietz-Pittman Funeral Home with Rev.
Ralph Matthews, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Mrs. Andrews was born in Des Monies, Iowa, on Oct. 15, 1931, and came to El Dorado with her parents from Avoca,
Iowa in 1941. She married John Andrews in El Dorado on July 31, 1950.
Mrs. Andrews was a member of the First Baptist Church, and president of the Homemakers Sunday School class.
Surviving are her husband, a son David, 6 and daughter Jana Lee, 4, all of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Christensen and a brother Peter, Jr., 801 Walnut and four sisters, Mrs. Sonja Haines, 927 North Main, Mrs.
Bonnie Brought, 611-1/2 North Gordy, and Miss Bernice Ann Christensen and Miss Carolyn Rose Christensen, both of

LILLIE H.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Byrd Funeral Home for Mrs. Lillie H. Campbell, El Dorado
resident who died here Monday. Rev. Leroy F. Arend, pastor of the First Methodist Church was in charge and interment
was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Melvin Carroll, B. H. Marston, Clarence Naus, Rolla Naus, Fred Shoup and R. E. Wesley.
Mrs. Roy Morris playing her own accompaniment sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "God Will Take Care

CORRALEZ,
JESUS
Jesus Corralez, 57, 1017 North Walnut, died at his home at 9 o'clock this morning following a three-month illness.
He had been a resident of El Dorado since 1921.
Mr. Corralez was born in Mexico on June 19, 1892, and was married to Felipa Sapien at Marion on May 21, 1926. He
was a brother in law of Pedro Requena who died here last Saturday.
Mr. Corraelz employed as a laborer for the Santa Fe Railroad company, lived in Arkansas City before coming to El
Dorado. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.
Survivors include the widow; five daughters, Rosa Lee, Henrietta Grace, Julia and Eleanor all of the home and six
sons, Martin, Cruz, Joe, David, Thomas and Jesus Corralez, Jr., also of the home.
The body is at the Kirby Funeral Home and funeral arrangements will be announced later. (El Dorado Times, Wednesday,

Funeral services were held this morning at St. John's Catholic Church for Jesus Corralez who died here Wednesday.
Father P.J. Leahy, pastor, officiated and interment was made in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pedro Humarha, Miguel Valadez, Santez Sapien, Miguel villa, Ed Quirloors and Louis Quinones.
St. John's school choir sang during the mass. The Kirby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. (El Dorado

HATTIE MINERVA
Mrs. Hattie Minerva Cosby, 67, died yesterday morning at her home on Koogler lease, Route1 after an illness of
two years. She had lived in this community for 35 years.
She was born at Charleston, Ark., Sept. 17, 1886 and was married at Evansville, Ark., Dec. 12, 1914, to Arthur
Lee Cosby. He survives. They had lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri before coming here in 1918.
Besides her husband she is survived by two half sisters, Mrs. Patience Johnston and Mrs. Dora Anderson, Glendale,
Calif.
Mrs. Cosby was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine and Farm Bureau.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Byrd Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday by Rev. Clayton W. Hildebrand,
pastor of the First Christian church. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, Monday, September

COUNTERMAN,
CHARLES JOSEPH
Charles Joseph Counterman, 30, 201 North Vine, died here yesterday afternoon. He had been ill one year.
He was born March 18, 1910, at Toronto. Except for the past year when he lived in El Dorado Mr. Counterman lived
all his life in Wichita and Toronto. At the time of his death, he was a pipe line foreman. He was a member of the
Methodist church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Hubert VantLeven and Misses Rosalie, Shirley and Carol Mae Counterman, all
of Wichita; and four sons, Arthur, Edward, William and Robert Counterman, all of Wichita. A daughter died in infancy.
Services will be announced by the Byrd Funeral Home. (El Dorado Times, Monday, October 22, 1951)
Funeral services for Charles J. Counterman, 30, 201 North Vine who died here Sunday, were conducted this morning
from the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. Leonard J. Smoot, pastor of the Methodist Church officiated.
Mrs. Fred Burr, playing her own accompaniment, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden."
Pallbearers were Cleve Bracken, J. T. Cobb, A. A. Parker, Jim Riley, Bob Shumway and Vernon Zieman.

COX, EUGENE

Eugene G. Cox, 77, retired oil field worker and carpenter died here yesterday following an illness of two years.
Born April 24, 1876, at Milton W.V., Mr. Cox came to El Dorado in 1885. He later lived in Winfield, Plains and
Rolla before settling permanently here in 1919. He was married to Mary Johnson in January 1907. She died the following
year. On Dec. 16, 1912 he was married to Sadie Allicott at Plains. She died in 1932.
Survivors include a son, Clayton Cox, 328 North Gordy, three step-daughters, Miss Bessie Frederick, 1119 Clark,
Mrs. Harry Moore, 700 North Star, and Mrs. Vera Ellis, 714 North Walnut, a sister, Mrs. Fred Knapp, Madison, two
brothers, Morton of Florence and George Cox, El Dorado, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. Seymour Bruce of the Baptist
Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, Thursday, September 10, 1953)
COX, HOWARD
MILTON
Howard Milton Cox, 56, died at his home, 230 South Popular, Monday afternoon following a long illness. He had been
a resident of El Dorado since 1918.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Derrel Shaw, pastor of Church
of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Born on May 10, 1902, in Benton county, Arkansas, Mr. Cox came to El Dorado from Altoona, Kan., and was employed
here for many years as a welder for the Cities Service Oil Company.
He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cox, of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Coggan, Hot Springs, Ark.,
Mrs. Grace Wilks, 117 South Poplar, and Mrs. Mamie Clayton, 225 South Popular, and one brother, Woodrow of the
home. One other brother preceded him in death. (El Dorado Times, Tuesday, January 13, 1959)
Services for Howard Milton cox, 56, 230 South Poplar, an El Dorado resident since 1918, were held Thursday afternoon
in the Kirby Funeral Home chapel. Mr. Cox died here Monday afternoon.
Derrel Shaw pastor of the Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
The chorus of the Church of Christ sang "Lily of the Valley," "Abide with Me," and "In
the Garden."
Pallbearers were E. H. Peterson, L. M. Franklin, Walter Dulany, Kenneth Page, J. E. Ford and Tom Junkins.
Honorary pallbearers were C. A. Mason, Dr. A. P. Cloyes, Lawrence Richards, Roy Russell, Harold Moss and E. L.

JOHN LESLIE
Body Of Missing Rose Hill Farmer Located From Air
An all-night search for John Leslie Humbolt, 60, missing from his farm five miles south of Rose Hill, ended this
morning at 11:55 o'clock, when his body was sighted from the air in a field near his home by John McClure and El
Dorado Chief of Police Harry Weber.
Dr. N. H. Overholser, coroner, who went to the scene, said death was caused by a self-inflicted rifle shot through
the temple.
Humbolt left his home Sunday morning about 8 o'clock saying he intended to look over the wheat. When he did not
show up at noon, the family searched the farm but were unable to locate him. At about 8 o'clock last night, approximately
75 men, friends of the family started a vain search.
Sheriff's officers were called to aid in the search at 6 o'clock this morning but the body was not located until
McClure and Chief Weber flew to the scene and directed searchers to the spot via the city's "walkie-talkie"
sets.
The body was about one-quarter of a mile south of the house and about 100 yards from the road. The rifle was found
beside the body.
The body is at the Dunsford Funeral Home in Augusta. (El Dorado Times, Monday, October 22, 1951)

Funeral services were conducted yesterday afternoon at the First Methodist Church for Paul R. Keefer, rural El
Dorado resident who died at his home Tuesday. Rev. LeRoy F. Arend, pastor was in charge and interment was in Elmwood
Cemetery at Augusta.
Pallbearers were Grant Jenkins, Lafe Parrish, Troy Groves, Roy Janney, Virgil Hughey and H. J. Cousland. Honorary
casketbearers included J. P. Murray, E. F. Cantrell, Une Sanders, J. E. Moreland, H. M. Severson, W. C. Mong, Lodia
Lindsay, Ervin Sickelbower, W. L. Condor and C. S. Warren.
J. M. Vernon and W. C. Newlin were ushers and Mrs. J. R. Dray, Mrs. G. E. Kassebaum, Mrs. J. H. Johnson and Mrs.
W. C. Mong were in charge of the flowers. Members of the Order of the Eastern Star and Patmos Lodge No. 97 A. F.
& A. M. attended in groups.
W. C. Lange, accompanied by Mrs. Audline Boyd, sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "Lead Kindly Light."
Members of Andrina chapter No. 93 of the O. E. S. conducted special ceremonies at the church with Mrs. Raymond
Walter, worthy matron and J. E. Breeze, worthy patron, officiating. The large crowd and many floral offerings attested
to the respect in which Mr. Keefer was held in the El Dorado community.

LOCKAMY,
LONNIA H.
Lonnia H. Lockamy,63, 722 North Washington, died at his home at 8:45 o'clock this morning. He had been in poor
health since 1945.
Mr. Lockamy came to El Dorado in 1917 and formerly worked for the Greiner and Osborn Laundries. He retired, however
in 1945.
Mr. Lockamy was married to Alice L. Parman at Excelsior Springs, Mo. on Aug. 31, 1902, but she died in 1932. Mr.
Lockamy was a member of the Christian church at Lawson, Mo., the town in which he was born on Feb. 10, 1881. He
came to El Dorado from Kansas City, Mo.
The only immediate survivors are a daughter in law, Mrs. Harrison Lockamy, El Dorado and a grandson, Don Richard
Lockamy, also of El Dorado.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. Clayton W. Hildebrand,
pastor of the Christian Church will officiate and interment will be made in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times,

LUTTGERDING,
JENNIE CORDELLA
Mrs. Jennie Cordella Luttgerding, 87, 205 North Gordy, died here today.
She was born March 7, 1866 in Logan County, Ill., and came to Kansas at the age of 10 years. She was married to
Theodore Luttgerding on Jan. 23, 1905 at Oklahoma City. He died in 1930. Mrs. Luttgerding was a member of the Christian
church.
Survivors include a son, Leslie J. Wright of the home; a brother, R. S. Wheeler, Otis, Colo.; five grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Byrd Funeral Home. Rev. Clayton W. Hildebrand, pastor
of the Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. (El Dorado Times, Thursday, September

Dies at Mercy Hospital
Tillman (Ted) D. Bennett, 60, of Tyro industrial engineer at the Cooperative Booster Station, near Caney, died at 4:25 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at Mercy Hospital. He had been critically ill two weeks, but had been in failing health the past two years. Mr. Bennett entered the hospital on March 25.
Funeral services are to be held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning at the Potts Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack T. Barron, pastor of the First Christian church, will be assisted by the Rev. Max Manning, Pastor of the First Assembly of God Church, will officiate Graveside services will be conducted at 3 o’clock Saturday afternoon at the Sunset Lawn Cemetery in El Dorado.
A native of Indiana , Mr. Bennett was born on October 21, 1900. He came to Montgomery County approximately 10 years ago from El Dorado. He had been an employee of the oil company more than 30 years.
His marriage to Mrs. Millie M. Crawford took place in Bartlesville on August 24, 1955. Surviving besides the widow , are two sons, Melvin of Wichita, John of Hutchinson, and a daughter Mrs. Martin (Betty ) McIntyre, Wichita, are all children of a previous marriage.
Other survivors are these step-children: Guy Crawford, Osceola, Mo., Clyde of Tyro, Mrs. Ed (Opal) Flanagan, Independence. Mrs. Lee (Maxine) Boggs, Vally Mound and Howard Crawford, Independence.
Eleven grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren also survive.
Two brothers, Larry Bennett, Montpelier, Ind,. And Pearl Bennett, Hollyrood, Kansas., and a sister Mrs. Ethel Carnes, Montpelier, Ind., are additional survivors. A son preceded Mr. Bennett in death.
Mr. Bennett was a member of the Christian church. He was also affiliated with the industrial engineers. (Independence Daily, Reporter - Submitted by Charlotte Bennett)
HAMMER, ANNIE M.
Funeral services for Mrs. Annie M. Hammer, 90, of Leon were conducted this afternoon at the Dietz-Pittman Colonial
Chapel. Mrs. Hammer was a long time resident of the Leon, Rosalia and Beaumont area, died Saturday at Wichita after
a long illness.
The Rev. Donald D. McCracken pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated. Mrs. Stanley Frogge and Mrs. H. L.
Hammer sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Sweet Bye and Bye," accompanied by Mrs. Amos B.
Marsh at the organ.
Casket bearers were B. L. Hammer, Lee Marley, H. L. Hammer, Lonnie Hammer, Lloyd Gray and Harry Hammer. Burial
was in the Blankenship cemetery south of Rosalia.
Mrs. Hammer was born May 16, 1877 at White City, Kan., and came to Butler County as a child. She was married to
Robert M. Hammer at Eureka on Nov. 23, 1895. He died in September 1959. She was a member of the Little Walnut Baptist
Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edna S. Costa, Woodland, Calif., four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and
two great-great-grandchildren.
Two daughters, Mrs. Robert Brant and Mrs. Daisy Eastin, preceded her in death. (El Dorado Times, October 23, 1967)
PARKS, MORRIS
RAY
Morris Ray Parks, 76, of Leon, Route 2, a resident of Butler county since 1899 died Friday at a Wichita Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. C. M. Nutter, staff member
at the First United Methodist church, will officiate. Burial will be in Blankenship Cemetery.
Mr. Parks was born at Lamar, Mo., on Aug. 26, 1891, and came to Butler county from Missouri in 1899. After living
on a farm east of El Dorado, he moved to this town in 1939 and later to Leon. He was a farmer.
Mr. Parks was married to Katie Lynn at El Dorado on Dec. 8, 1915.
Surviving are his wife, of Goddard; five daughters, Mrs. Lavina Hanks of Lynwood, Wash.; Mrs. Iva Hart, 507 West
Fourth Avneue; Mrs. Reba Spinato of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Ruby Hughes of Port Angeles, Wash., and Mrs. Leah Thomasson
of Plano, Tex., three sons, Alvin Parks, of Newton, Donald Parks of Independence, and Paul Parks, 510 West Carr
avenue, and a brother, Charlie Parks of Petersburg, Alaska.
There are 32 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. (El Dorado Times, May 4, 1968)
Services were held Thursday at the Kirby Funeral Home for Morris Parks, Leon route two who died May 3, in St. Francis
Hospital at Wichita. The Rev. C. M. Nutter staff member of the First United Methodist Church officiated. Mrs. M.
Keith Balzar sang "Just As I Am." And "In the Garden," with Mrs. H. W. Bullerdiek as organist.
The casket bearers were Frank Roland, Ophie Parks, Charles Hart, Bobbie Burnett, Rex Trifethen and William Hart.
Interment was in Blankenship Cemetery.
A resident of Butler County since coming here from Missouri in 1899 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Parks
(Hester Beard), Mr. Parks was born August 26, 1891 at Lamar, Colo. For many years he engaged in farming east of
El Dorado. He moved to El Dorado in 1939, later moving to the Leon Community. His marriage to Katie Lynn took place
December 8, 1915 in El Dorado.
Surviving are Mrs. Parks of Goddard; five daughters, and three sons, Mrs. Lavina Hanks, Lynwood, Wash.; Mrs. Reba
Spinato, Washington, D. C., Mrs. Ruby Hughes; Port Angeles, Wash.; Mrs. Lelah Thomasson, Plano, Texas; Mrs. Iva
Hart and Paul Parks, El Dorado, Alvin Parks, Newton, and Donald Parks of Independence, and a brother, Charlie Parks,
Petersburg, Alaska. There are 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and

REISERER,
MARTIN R.
Martin R. Reiserer, 79, El Dorado, Route 2, died suddenly at his home this morning.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. C. M. Nutter, staff
member of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Blankenship Cemetery.
Mr. Reiserer had lived at his present home 23 years, moving there following his retirement as an employee of the
Coleman Company in Wichita after 20 years service. During that time he lived in Wichita. He came to Leon with his
parents in 1903. He had farmed since moving to his present home.
Born at Tina, Mo., on Jan. 7, 1887, Mr. Reiserer was married to Maude E. Heath at Leon on July 25, 1909. He was
a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow: three sisters, Mrs. Alma Knight, Emporia, Mrs. Dora Bowen, Arkansas City and Mrs. Anna
Boley, Leon; four brothers, Joe Reiserer, Leon Jack Reiserer, Wichita, Dale Reiserer, Portland, Ore., and Russell
