Nov. 13, 1916, in Collins, Mo., to Clarence and Grace Hamlin Claycamp. He was a retired inspector at Cessna. He
moved to Benton in 1956 from Concordia.On Oct. 29, 1941, he and Ella Marie Parker were married in rural South Haven.
He was a member of the Benton United Methodist Church and a 27-year member of the Benton Lions Club.Survivors include:

was born March 1, 1896, in Elbing, to Benjamin D. and Mary (Spangler) Cooper. She lived in the Cassoday and Chelsea
areas most of her life. On March 1, 1923, she and Paul Cornwell were married. He preceded her in death in 1970.Survivors

Donald Ray Drake, 58, of Benton, formerly of Kansas City, Kan., died Saturday morning, June 12, 1993, at Susan

Okla., to Cecil Richard and Hilda Lee (Green) Drake, and graduated from Guymon High School. He served in the U.S.
Army during the Korean War. He moved to Benton from Kansas City where he had worked as a roofer.Survivors include:

Donna R. Edson, 61, of Benton, died Friday, May 13, 1994, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Wichita.Services will
be Monday, May 16 at 11 a.m. at the Benton Cemetery. Internment will follow the services.She was born Feb. 15,
1933, in Topeka, the daughter of Calvin and Jeanne Bryan Collins. She was raised in eastern Kansas and made her
home in the Benton area since 1965. She worked as a Unit Secretary at St. Joseph Medical Center until retiring
in 1991.She was a member of the Benton Golden Agers Club; American Legion Auxiliary Post #4, Wichita; Retirees
Club of St. Joseph's; Former member of the A.B.W.A. in Wichita; and was a Meals on Wheels Volunteer.She is survived
by two sons, Frank C. Wheeler, Pomona and Captain Bryan T. Wheeler, Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Susan Bousquet,
Omaha, Neb.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, William;

accident.He was born July 10, 1989 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Thomas and Brandy (Ewing) Fitzgerald. He lived
all his life in the Benton area and worked as a plumber for Central Heating and Air in Wichita.Survivors include:

Alva E. Fuller, 84, of El Dorado, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1993, at Susan B. Allen Hospital. Services will be 10:30

and Bessie Fuller and grew up in the El Dorado area. He then lived in Maize until returning to El Dorado eight
years ago. On Oct. 19, 1930, he and May Perry were married in El Dorado.He retired as Section Foreman from Missouri
Pacific Railroad where he had worked for 47 years. His memberships included the Congregational Christian Church
of Maize, Horseless Carriage Club, Antique Car Club and the Chevy Club.Survivors include: wife, May; sons, Fred
of Augusta, Robert of Ft. Smith, Ark.; daughters, Alvena Bowlin of El Dorado, Leona Harrison of Benton, Betty Guhr

SHAFFER, HAROLD J.
Harold J. Shaffer, 79, of Towanda died Thursday afternoon, Feb. 26, 2004, at Medicalodge in Douglass. Services
are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Kirby-Morris Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Benton Cemetery.He
was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Benton, the son of Albert and Hazel (Wisecarver) Shaffer. He attended school in Benton.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Taylor on March 23, 1952 in Benton. They lived in rural Towanda, where Harold
farmed. He served on the board of directors for Tri-Co. He loved his family and was a good neighbor.Survivors include
his wife, Marjorie, of the home; two daughters, Sharyl Fowler of Wichita and Terri Cool of Tulsa; a brother, Delbert
Shaffer of Benton; two sisters, Norma Stephens of Benton and Evelyn Best of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren,
Erica and her husband Asa Hill, and Jared Fowler; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxson Hill and Abbigail Hill.A
memorial has been established with the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be left with Kirby-Morris, which

SLUSSER, RAYMOND L. "RAY"
Raymond L. "Ray" Slusser, 64, Builders Inc. Vice President and General Manager of Central Services, died
Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2002. Service 1 p.m. today, Cochran Mortuary; interment will follow at Benton (Kan.) Cemetery.
Mr. Slusser was a Navy Reserves veteran. He was a member of the National Rifle Assn. and Sunflower Gun Club. He
enjoyed hunting deer and pheasant and fishing. He was involved in the building and driving of the Builders Inc.
float for the Wichita River Festival. He was a great vegetable and flower gardener and landscaper. He had spent
a lifetime in the construction business, starting by building grain elevators and later apartment complexes. He
had a passion for kids and his grandchildren and his family was everything to him.
Survivors: companion, Carmen Wormington of the home; sons, Danny Slusser of Wichita, Steve Slusser of Park City;
daughters, DeeDe Ricketts, Brandi Duncan both of Wichita; stepson, Jeremy Wormington of the home; step-daughter
Chandra Wood of Springfield, Mo.; mother Winona Slusser of Wichita; sister Norma Royse of Halstead; six grandchildren.
