DACE, NELLE BOELLNER
Nelle Boellner Dace, 75, of Leon and a lifelong resident of Butler County, died Saturday morning at a local nursing
home in El Dorado. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial
will follow the services.
Mrs. Dace was born April 4, 1909 in Butler County the daughter of Will and Mabel Smith Miller. She graduated from
Butler County Junior College and Kansas State University. She was formerly employed by Butler County College, KG&E
and for many years with H&M Drilling Co. out of Leon.
On Jan. 31, 1932 she married Victor W. Boellner at El Dorado. He died May 1, 1975. She married Roland Dace. He
died January 7, 1983. Mrs. Dace was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one nephew, Raymond Baker of Stillwater, Okla., and a niece, Mrs. Donald Percell of Englewood,
Colo.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Baker. (El Dorado Times, January 5, 1985)
Memorial services for Nelle Boellner Dace, 75, of Leon and El Dorado, were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Kirby-Morris
Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Belle Vista Cemetery. She died Jan. 5.
The Rev. Jean Wilcox, pastor of Leon United Methodist Church, officiated. Organist was Mrs. Gladys Jones and vocalists
were Mrs. Arleta Hammer and Mrs. Bette Morris. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In the
Garden."
Casket bearers were Harold Borger, J. R. Boyce, Harold Hammer, Paul Morris, Harold Scribner and Forest Scribner.

GALLOWAY, EDITH PAULINE
Notice has been received that Edith Pauline Galloway, 87, mother of Rex Galloway, a former El Doradoan; grandmother
of Patrick P. Galloway of El Dorado, died Jan. 31 in Pawhuska, Okla. at the hospital. Graveside services were held
2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, at the Rest Lawn Cemetery in Coffeyville.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star (Sunrise Chapter) both of Nowata. When the
Galloways were residence of El Dorado, Mrs. Galloway visited with her son and family often.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leo C. (Mildred) Ray of Pawhuska, Okla, a son Rex Galloway of Sand Springs,
and six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

GRAHAM, CLARENCE
Clarence C. Graham, age 95, of El Dorado, died Sunday morning May 21, 1989 at Knutson Manor Nursing Center. Services
will be Wednesday 11 a.m. at Carlson's Colonial Chapel. Burial will follow at Belle Vista Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 7, 1894, at Paola, the son of William Watson and Minnie May Graham. He moved to El Dorado in 1925,
from Paola, after returning from the Army in World War I. He served in the Calvary in France. He worked for Haberlein
Clothing Store in El Dorado for many years. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion, which he helped
organize. He had also been a member of the Elks Club.
He married Pauline Boellner, April 15, 1928. She preceded him in death on Feb. 16, 1985.
Survivors include one daughter Clarisse (Mrs. Don) Percell of Scottsdale, Ariz., three grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters. Memorial has been established with the First United Methodist Church.

Services for Clarence C. Graham, age 95, of El Dorado, were held Wednesday morning at Carlson's Colonial Chapel.
Burial followed the services at Belle Vista Cemetery. He died Sunday, May 21, 1989.
The Rev. Mike McGuire, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Marge Marsh,
at the organ, played the prelude and the postlude. Mrs. Earle Miller Jr. sang "How Great Thou Art."
Casket bearers were Gale Bonnell, Bill Graves, Harold Peal, Mick Wiley, Willie Nickels, Dick Trombla and Don Baker.
Honorary bearers were Clell Leonard, Harlan Remsberg, and Earle Miller Jr. Military rites were conducted at the
cemetery by American Legion Post No. 81. The flag folders were George Ball and Howard Cool Jr. Gene Carlson was

GRAHAM, PAULINE
Pauline Graham, 81, formerly of 509 N. Alleghany, died Saturday afternoon at Knutson Manor Nursing Home. Services
will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Carlson Funeral. Burial will follow in Belle Vista Cemetery.
She was born August 10, 1893 near Leon the daughter of John C. and Lydia B. Peffley Boellner. At an early age she
moved to El Dorado, spending all her life in Butler County. She was a graduate of Stephens College and Emporia
State Teachers College. Mrs. Graham was an avid reader and wrote several short stories. She was a teacher and had
also worked with retarded children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, circles of the Church,
and the El Dorado Story League.
On April 15, 1928, she was married to Clarence C. Graham.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence; a daughter, Clarisse (Mrs. Don) Percell of Englewood, Colo., and three
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Memorials in her memory for the Bradford Memorial Library may be sent to the library or left at Carlson Funeral

Services for Pauline (Mrs. Clarence) Graham, 81, formerly of 509 N. Alleghany were held Tuesday morning at Carlson
Funeral Home. Burial followed the services in Belle Vista Cemetery. Mrs. Graham died Saturday, Feb. 16.
The Rev. Harold Kieler, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the services. Mrs. Ben Plummer, at the
organ, played selected music for the prelude and the postlude. Mrs. Robert Lagree sang "His Eye Is On the
Sparrow" and "Take My Hand, Precious Lord."
Casket bearers were Earle F. Miller, Jr., Paul Peffley, Clell Leonard, Don Baker, Dick Boyce and Bill Baker. (El

GRANT, LOUISE T.
Louise T. Grant, 80, of El Dorado, died Monday evening, July 31, 1989 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Graveside
services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia.
Mrs. Grant was born July 20, 1909, in Eureka, daughter of George and Elizabeth (Limbough) Grant. She married Chester
(Dee) Grant, who died in 1975. She was a lifelong resident of El Dorado, and a homemaker.
Survivors, son Bobby Grant of Newton, one granddaughter, Karen Jacobs of Wichita, one great-grandson, Trenton Jacobs
of Wichita.

GRAVATT, F. T. "BUD"
Funeral services for F. T. "Bud" Gravatt, age 63, of Hamilton, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial
follows at the family plot, Hamilton, Campbell Mortuary of Eureka has charge of arrangements.
Survivors two daughters, Cindy Saunders and Carla Young of Eureka; sister, Vera Overley Gray, formerly of El Dorado

GRAY, JAMES C. SR.
James C. Gray, Sr., 63, of 121-1/2 W. First died Monday at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carlson
Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Augusta.
He was born June 11, 1921, at Augusta, the son of Oscar and Ruby Hanley Gray. He had lived in El Dorado for about
20 years moving here from Augusta. He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by two sisters, Irene Ferris and Lucille Gray, both of El Dorado; and five grandchildren.

GREEN, BEVERLY ANN
Beverly Ann Green, 50, of Whitewater, died Thursday at her home. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, at Federated
Church of Whitewater with pastor Bill Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Green Valley Cemetery in Furley.
She was born May 21, 1934 at Zimmerdale, the daughter of Gilbert D. and Eunice (Hash) Wiens. She was married June
21,1952 to Robert L. Green at Bentonville, Ark. He survives.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include three sons, Patrick Green of Burns, Nathaniel Green of Whitewater and Thaddeus Green of
the home; two daughters, Stacy Bell of Whitewater and Tracy Gibson of Inman; her mother, Eunice Wiens of Whitewater,
three brothers Merton Wiens of Whitewater, Charles Wiens of Newton and Rarndy Wiens of Wellington; six sisters,
Barbara Smalley of Salina, Sue Ulbrich of Valley Center, Teresa Alcorn of Valley Center and Shirley Atwood, Gayle
Brunn and Jo Anne Silbernagel, all of Whitewater, and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, and by one son, Danny.

GRIFFITH, GEORGE
George Griffith, age 71, of North Hollywood, Calif., died April 27, 1989 at North Hollywood. Memorial services
will be held Friday June 2, at 11 a.m. at the Economy Cemetery, southeast of El Dorado, with the Rev. Charles Claycomb
of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation preceded the service. The family suggests memorial
to Trinty United Methodist Church.
He was born Aug. 1, 1917 at El Dorado the son of Samuel and Belle Cronk Griffith. He grew up in the El Dorado community
and attended school here. He was a graduate of Wichita State University and UCLA. He had taught in the Augusta
and Topeka school system. He was director of music at UCLA.
He served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific during World War II.
He is survived by a brother, Gerald of Canon City, Colo., one sister, Alice Unger of El Dorado. He was preceded
in death by his parents, wife and two sisters. (El Dorado Times, May 30, 1989)
HACKER, JOHN L.
John L. Hacker, 84, of 614 North Orchard, died Saturday at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Dietz-Carlson Colonial Chapel with burial in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
Mr. Hacker was born January 30, 1894 at El Dorado the son of Brice and Charlotte Marcum Hacker. He spent most of
his life in the El Dorado area except for a few years in California. He worked in the oil fields and was a trucker
until retiring in 1956.
On Jan. 29, 1919, he married Sarah Ellen Tarrant at Wichita and she died Jan. 17, 1975.
Survivors include two brothers, Amos of El Dorado, and Brice of Wichita; six sisters, Mrs. Jennie King, Mrs. Lena
LaRue, Mrs. Edna McGregor and Mrs. Myrtle Worden, all of El Dorado, Mrs. Ethel Strickland of Cunningham and Mrs.
Eunice Bevan of Peabody.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a brother. (El Dorado Times, February 6, 1978)
HALE, CHARLES E.
Charles E. Hale, 89, of 1136 Shelden, died Tuesday at the Florence Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Assembly of God Church with burial in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
Mr. Hale was born Nov. 6, 1888 at Troy the son of Steve and Amanda Libby Hale. He was a farmer and had worked in
the oil fields as well as for Butler County and the City of El Dorado. He retired in 1959. He moved to El Dorado
in the oil boom days from Hill City and lived in the Oil Hill and El Dorado area for many years. He was a member
of the Assembly of God Church.
He married Susie Reinholt in 1935 and she died in 1940. On June 9, 1945, he married Minnie Tatum Thorbun at El
Dorado.
Survivors include two stepsons, Raymond Thorburn and Paul Junior Thorburn, both of El Dorado, two stepdaughters,
Mrs. Barbara Rhodes and Mrs. Beulah Pearcy both of El Dorado, two sisters, Mrs. Delores Viernes of Salinas, Calif.,
and Mrs. Sylvia Nash of Marysville, Calif., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren. (El Dorado Times,

Elizabeth (Mrs. George) Hammond, 74, of Wichita, died Saturday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Cochran Mortuary, Wichita, with burial at White Chapel Memorial Gardens,
Wichita.
Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Syble Jones of Wichita, and two sisters, Mrs. Wanetta Sammons of El
Dorado and Mrs. Rose Lehman of Minden, La.

Leonard Harms, 86, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday morning at Hutchinson Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Johnson & Sons Funeral Home in Hutchinson with the Rev. Ray Morales
officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery at Hutchinson.
Mr. Harms was born Jan. 21, 1892, near Newton, the son of John C. and Anna Claassen Harms. He was a retired truck
driver and a member of Grace Hill Mennonite Church.
Survivors include four sons, Lawrence, 304 West 1st and Lloyd, 209 North Orchard, both of El Dorado, Leo of Guymon,
Okla, and Richard of Prague, Okla., three daughters, Mrs. Lowell (Dorothy) Smith, of Russell, Mrs. Delbert (Mildred)
Danielson of Waukegan, Ill., and Mrs. Lee (Clara) Abendroth of Waynesville, Mo.; two brothers, Hank of Florence
and Cornelius of Walton; a sister, Mrs. Matilda Vandervert of Elkhart, 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren,

Mrs. Rose Harris, 84, of Enid, Okla., a former resident of El Dorado, died Thursday evening at Western Hospital
at Fort Supply, Okla.
She was a housewife and had been ill several months. She was the daughter of Joseph Ellen Robison Sidler and was
a sister of Mrs. Effie Wilkinson, deceased, of El Dorado. She was a member of the Methodist Chruch.
Surviving is a granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Frances Bradley of Waterloo, Ill.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dietz-Carlson Funeral

Orrin Russell Heller, 66, of Mulvane, a former resident of El Dorado and a former watch repairman, a retired Boeing
Wichita Company flightline mechanic, died Thursday.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Senter Mulvane Mortuary.
Survivors are his wife, Mary M.; two sons, Russell E. of Wichita and Kenneth W. of Mulvane and a daughter Mrs.
Carol J. Ramsey of Arlington, Va.

Lona A. (Mrs. Clayton) Hicks, 83, of Iola died Tuesday.
Services were to have been held today at the Calvary United Methodist Church at Iola.

Kramer, both of Iola, and two sisters, Mary Lorence of Iola and Teressa McCoy of El Dorado.

KILGORE, RUSSELL HOBART
Russell Hobart Kilgore, 81, of Belle Vista, Ark., former El Dorado and Wichita resident, and former president of
the Union National Bank and National Bank of Wichita, and Citizens State Bank and former member of the Board of
Directors of the El Dorado State Bank, died April 17.
Services were held April 19.
