DOBELBOWER, BEULAH RUTH

Beulah Ruth Dobelbower, 86, Independence, MO (formerly of Fort Scott, KS), died Thursday, January 18, 2001, in Independence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, at the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Don Payne officiating; burial in Bird Cemetery, south of Pittsburg, KS. The family will receive friends 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the First Assembly of God, c/o Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 West Wall, P.O. FLOWERS, RONALD W.

WEIR - Ronald W. Flowers, 63, of rural Weir was dead on arrival at 7:52 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at the Mt. Carmel Medical Center emergency room after a sudden illness.

He was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Treece to Romus and Esther (Bradbury) Flowers. He graduated from high school at Columbus. He had resided in rural Weir since 1969, moving from Kansas City, Kan.

Mr. Flowers married Donna Mathes May 20, 1953, in Treece. She survives of the home.

He had worked as a press operator for Hallmark at Kansas City, Mo.; as a security guard for Ace Electric at Columbus; and later as a security guard for Superior Industries at Pittsburg until ill health forced his retirement.

Other survivors include three daughters, Belinda White of Mountainburg, Ark., Debbie Murry of rural Columbus and Sharon Mogle of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Nedra Barnes of Joplin; seven brothers, Bill of Clovis, N.M., John of Olathe, Paul of Warahachie, Texas, David of Erie, Delbert of Chanute, Louis of Gellie, Fla., and Larry of Worcester, Mass.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir, where friends may call after 3 p.m. today.

Cremation will take place after visitation. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Bird Cemetery, rural Pittsburg, with the Rev. Don Walker officiating.

LEE, VERNETTA F.

HARRISONVILLE, Mo. - Vernetta F. Lee, 91, of Harrisonville, Mo., formerly of West Mineral, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, where she had been a patient for four years.

She was born June 22, 1908, at rural Pittsburg to Lorenzo D. and Sarah Angeline (Harriman) Fisher. She moved to West Mineral in 1983 from Liberty, Mo., and returned to Harrisonville in 1995.

Mrs. Lee had been a beauty operator in Kansas City, Mo., for 48 years before her retirement.

She was a member in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scammon.

Survivors include a stepson, Robert Lee of Gladstone, Mo.; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Fisher of West Mineral and Irvin Fisher of Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Nellie Pleser of Placerville, Calif.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ollie Fisher, Rosie Thomas and Glessie Crowe; and a brother, Raymond Fisher.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Elder Larry Reynolds of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scammon officiating. Burial will be in the Bird Cemetery in rural Pittsburg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family can be reached at the home of her brother, Delbert Fisher, in West Mineral.

Memorials may be made to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Scammon.

NORRIS, NANCY J.

Nancy J. Norris, 66, of Yates Center, Kansas died February 22, 2008, at Burlington, Kansas. Nancy was born May 14, 1941 in Weir, Kansas to Axel Hilmer and Norma Ruth Mason Larson. Nancy grew up in Weir and graduated from Weir High School; she received her Bachelors degree from Pittsburg State University. She taught school for one year and then was employed by Wal-mart for 15 years in Chanute. She also worked as Director of the Yates Center Senior Center, and a member. Nancy was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also served as Choir director of the Christian Church. She loved music and playing the piano; making ceramics and crafts and being with her children and grandchildren. Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother, and daughter in law Marjorie Sue Norris. Nancy married Billy Mack Norris, June 29, 1957 at Miami, Okla., he survives of Yates Center. In addition to her husband, survivors include her step-father, Wayne Meyer of Pittsburg, Kansas. Two sons, William M. Norris of Yates Center, Kansas, and Tim Norris of Gulf Port, Mississippi; one brother, Bill Meyer of Weir, Kansas, and two sisters, Mary Saporito of Weir, Kansas and Patty Soucy of Lawrence, Kansas. Eleven grandchildren and three great - grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center, Tuesday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be 3:00 P.M. at Bird Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas. The family is requesting Memorials to First United Methodist Church or Senior Center Transportation of Yates Center and may be left with Campbell Funeral Home, PO Box 188 Yates Center, Kansas (620)625-2211.

STARK, CHESTER H.

Chester H. Stark, 77 of Scammon, KS, died at 11:25 am Monday, December 18, 2006, at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir.
