Mrs. Stephen Beach an old resident of Baxter, died at his home in the north part of town last Friday (March 7), afternoon and was buried Sunday at 11 a.m. under the auspices of the Grand Army. Stephen A. Beach was born March 27th, 1826 at Bristol, New York, when a child his parents moved near Rockford, Ill where February 25th, 1855 he married Susan A. Rutledge by whom he leaves seven children; two sons, and five daughters. His wife died at Gettysburg, Granhan Co., Oct. 19th, 1879. On June 17th, 1882 at Edmond Norton County he was married to Mrs. Mary A. Hirst whom with two children are now left to mourn his death. He enlisted in Co. F 20th Iowa Infantry August 21st, 1862. Was discharged at Marine Hospital, New Orleans, June 19th, 1865. I wish to thank the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted during the sickness and death of my husband. Mrs. Mary A. Beach

James Hogan aged 70 yeasrs who resided in the east part of the city died last Wednesday of dropsy, after a lingering illness. He was an old soldier and member of Baxter Post No 123. The funeral was held last Saturday.
