BLOCHLINGER, HENRY LEO

MILTONVALE-The funeral for Henry Leo Blochlinger, 62, will be held Monday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church here. Mr. Blochlinger, lifetime resident of Cloud County, died at his home near here after an illness of more than two years.

Mr. Blochlinger was born April 20, 1892, on a farm near Miltonvale, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Casper Blochlinger. He was married to Stella Richard in 1939.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, Charles and Paul, of the home; two brothers, P. J. Concordia, and Casper, Miltonvale; eight sisters, Mrs. Joe Stenger, Wayne; Clara, Mary, and Ida Blochlinger and Mrs. Rosa Reel Milton vale; Mrs. John Neises Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Lenora Hally Delphos, and Sister M. Cletus Fond du Lac, Wis.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan 3, at St. Anthony's Catholic church in Miltonvale. The body will be taken to the Casper F. MORRILL, EARL L.

CONCORDIA - Earl L. Morrill, 82, Concordia, died Friday, Jan. 15, at the Mount Joseph Care Home in Concordia.

Mr. Morrill was born Feb. 26, 1905, in Concordia. He had lived in Concordia since 1946, moving from Fowler. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dora of the home; a son, Jerry of Wichita Falls, Texas; a daughter, Mary Beth Blochlinger of Concordia; two brothers, Francis of Wichita and William of Lawrence; a sister, Myrtle Rusher of Sacramento, Calif., and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, Monsignor Vincent LeMoine and the Rev. John Lahey officiating. Burial will be in the St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Mount Joseph Care Home. SORENSON, RONALD L.

HERINGTON — Ronald L. Sorenson, 61, Herington, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003. Mr. Sorenson was born Nov. 17, 1941, in West Hope, N.D. He was a firefighter and later fire chief of the Fort Riley Fire Department. He also served as commissioner for the city of Herington.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Helen F. Schlesener Sorenson of the home; a son, Steve of Herington; three daughters, Ronda Strome and Billi Jo Fielder, both of Herington, and Susan Buckbee of Arkansas City; a brother, Lloyd of Maricopa, Calif.; a sister, Vonna Haring of Buffalo, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Herington.

A final memorial salute by Herington and Fort Riley fire departments will follow the memorial service Saturday. Memorials may b e made to the church in care of Donahue Funeral Home, Herington. CONCORDIA — Mary Jane Cool, 86, Concordia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003. Mrs. Cool was born Mary Jane Whitebread on July 7, 1917, in Concordia. She was a farm wife.

Survivors include her husband, Dale of Concordia; and a sister, Gertrude Whitebread of Concordia.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Memorials may be made to the church or to Sunset Nursing Center.

TREMLAY, SYLVEO "FRENCHIE"

CONCORDIA — Sylveo "Frenchie" Tremblay, 78, Concordia, died Monday, Aug. 5, 1996, at Cloud County Health Center. Mr. Tremblay was born June 19, 1918, at St. Joseph. He was a World War II Army veteran and warehouse foreman at Bowman Seed Co. for 23 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 76 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 588, all of Concordia.

Survivors include his wife, Fern of Concordia; a son, Richard of Topeka; a daughter, Caroline Lee of Herington; two brothers, Melvin of Concordia and Elric of Colby; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

CONCORDIA — Melvin E Tremblay 82, Concordia, died Wednesday June 23, 2004. Mr. Tremblay was born Jan. 28, 1922, in St. Joseph. He worked for Fairmont Foods for 41 years.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Concordia; a son, Kenneth of Concordia; a brother, Elric of Colby; and a grandchild.

CONCORDIA — The funeral for Mrs. Delvina Collette, 81, Concordia, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, the Revs. Loren Werth, William Dunphy, and LeRoy Metro officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Aurora.

Mrs. Collette died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia. She was born Jan. 14, 1897, at Aurora. She was a lifelong resident of Cloud County, and had worked at Fairmont Foods Company, Concordia, for ten years. Mrs. Collette also had worked at nursing homes in the Concordia area. She was a member of the Catholic Church, the Concordia Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, St. Ann's Sodality, and Royal Neighbors.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Delia Mae Metro, and Mrs. Annabel Woodworth, both of Concordia; a foster daughter, Mrs. Joan Weis, West Minister, Colo.; a son, Donald Monty, Hope; four stepsons, Alfred and Ronald Collette, both of Aurora; Lorraine Collette, Mentone, Calif., and Leland Collette, Shawnee; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Geneva Thomas, Morrow, Ga., and Mrs. Theresa Pracht, Golden, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Collette's husband, Willie, died in 1978.

CONCORDIA — Phyllis M. Collette, 78, Concordia, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006. Mrs. Collette was born Phyllis M. Girard on Sept. 29, 1927, in Clyde. She and her husband were farmers.

CONCORDIA — Lee F. Collette, 63, Concordia, died Friday, April 14, 1995, at St. Joseph Hospital,

Concordia. Mr. Collette was born Nov. 10, 1931, at Aurora and was a lifelong resident of Concordia. He was an X-ray technologist at Concordia Medical Clinic, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 588, Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge, all of Concordia, and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Survivors include his wife, Rita of the home; two sons Steven of Topeka and Greg of Concordia; a daughter, Janelle Larson of Concordia; his mother, Jardine Collette of Concordia; three sisters, Verona Perret, Rita Lutz and Joyce Benne, all of Concordia; and five grandchildren.

CONCORDIA - Jardine M. Collette, 95, Concordia, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004. Mrs. Collette was born Jardine M. Courville on March 26, 1909, in Clyde. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, in 1994; two sons, Lee and Joseph; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include three daughters, Verona Perret and Rita Lutz, both of Concordia, and Joyce Lambert of Clyde; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

CONCORDIA - Albert M. Collette, 94, Concordia, died Friday, June 3, 1994, at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia. Mr. Collette was born July 16, 1899, at Clyde and was a resident of Concordia since 1941. He was a farmer in the Morganville community and later the Aurora community and in Concordia was a painting contractor. He was a member of Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, and Knights of Columbus.

An infant son, Joseph, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Jardine of the home; a son, Lee of Concordia; three daughters, Verona Ferret, Rita Lutz and Joyce Benne, all of Concordia; three sisters, Luella Noon of Mount Hope, Odella Bee of Spokane, Wash., and Mabel Burse of Bellingham, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

CLAY CENTER — Georgianna Cyre, 94, Clay Center, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 1997, at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. Mrs. Cyre was born Georgianna Charbonneau on May 14, 1903, at St. Joseph and was a resident of Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, for eight years. She was a former resident of Morganville, Aurora, Oakhill and Abilene. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1995 and two daughters.

Survivors include two sons, Larry and Bernard, both of Morganville; a daughter, Dorothy Urban of Morganville; two brothers, Albert Charbonneau of Clyde and Alfred Charbonneau of Concordia; a sister, Eva Alexander of Concordia; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two.step-great-grandchildren.

GIRARD, HECTOR J.

CLAY CENTER — Hector J. Girard, 73, Clay Center, died Friday at the Clay County Hospital, after a sudden illness.

Mr. Girard was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Cloud County, and lived in Cloud and Clay counties all his life. He moved in 1953 to Clay Center, where he was fire chief for many years and owned and operated a dray service. He was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center.

He is survived by his wife, Cord, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Maxine Racette, Clyde; Mrs. JoAnn Dalton, Odessa, Texas; and Mrs. Gladys Bergen and Mrs. Anna Jean Parry, both of Clay Center; a son, Donald, Clay Center; a brother, Emery, Miltonvale; 25 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay Center, the Rev. John Wolesky officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center.

GIRARD, ERNEST "ERNIE"

Ernest "Ernie" Girard, 75, Concordia, Kansas, died April 11, 2003, at Via Christi-St. Joseph, Wichita.

He was born June 12, 1927, in Clyde, to Eugene and Laura Couture Girard. He attended the Morganville high School, Morganville, Kan., and then served in the United States Navy in Guam during World War II. He was married to Vera L. Wurtz on September 20, 1947, in Concordia. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and had served in various capacities, including Toll Repeater man. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and had served on the Parish Council and was actively involved in the funeral Mass. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 60 years. He was a charter member of the Moose. He was active in the community and had been Mayor of Concordia. He was also a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He served eight years on the USD 333 school board and was a member of the board for Notre Dame High School. Ernie was also a member of the Moose Club and had been Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club. he was an active coach for the Moose Girls Softball and Knights of Columbus Pee Wee Baseball. Ernie started a Dance Program for the Mentally Challenged. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandfather and will be remembered with much love by his family.

Survivors include his wife, Vera Girard, Concordia; five daughters: Sheryl Michaud & Husband Patrick, Abilene; Shirley Grimsley and husband Glenn; Denise Moe and husband Dan, Wichita; Michelle Jackle & husband John, Wichita; Melinda Wheeler and husband Kenny, Derby, Kan.; three sons: Dale Girard and wife Sharrid, Olathe; Robert Girard & wife, Colleen, Kettering, Ohio; Jeffrey Girard and wife Mary, Kearney, Neb.; two sisters, Theresa Buechel & husband Bill, Salina; Bernice Ayers & husband Les, Washington, Kan.; and three brothers; Paul Girard, Concordia; Bernard Girard & wife Marcia, Solomon, Kan.; Larry Girard & wife Ann, Beloit, Kan.; 24 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 aunts.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Laura Girard, one granddaughter, Crystal Grimsley, and one grandson, Trent Girard.
Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia, with the Rev. Steven Heina officiating. Burial will be in St. Concordia Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas, with military graveside services by the VFW Post 588 and the American Legion Post 76.

BALTAZOR, ANNABELLE (MRS. DONALD)

Mrs. Annabelle Baltazor, 37 Salina, died Saturday at Asbury Hospital. She was admitted Friday night to the intensive care unit after suddenly complaining of a severe headache.

She was born Dec. 10, 1931 in Beloit. She moved to Salina 11 years ago.

Survivors are the widower Donald, and 3 sons, Dale, Donald Dean and Phillip Daniel, and sisters, Anna Marie and Rebecca, all of the home; her father Frank Rittel, and a brother, James, both of Concordia.

GATHERS, DELMAR STANLEY

MILTONVALE — The funeral for Delmar Stanley Gathers, 75, Miltonvale, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church, the Revs. Lowell Gilger and Claire Dunbar officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery.

Mr. Gathers died Saturday morning at Asbury Hospital, Salina. He was born April 4, 1906, in Maple Hill.

He had been associated with the Gathers Hardware store in Miltonvale for 60 years. He served as Miltonvale's mayor and as a councilman.

Surviving are his wife, Veda, of the home; a son, Glenn, Salina Rt. 5; two brothers, Orvel, Aurora, Colo., and Clinton, Miltonvale; a sister, Mrs. Velma Dunbar, Hutchinson, and a grandchild. BLOCHLINGER, MARY LINNE (MRS. JOHN)

Mrs. John Blochlinger Passes Away

The community was greatly shocked Sunday morning, when they learned of the death of Mrs. John Blochlinger, who lived six miles southwest of Aurora, passed away in a week spell four hours after her baby boy was born.

Mrs. Blochlinger had lived in that neighborhood for more than 15 years, she had been beloved by her neighbors and all who knew her, she was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life in trying to make others happy, the creator had seen fit to remove her from her usefulness and brought this sadness upon Mr. Blochlinger, his friends and neighbors cannot help but share in his sorrow.

Mary Linne, wife of John Blochlinger was born at New Albany, Ind., March 26, 1892, died at her home at the age of 38 years. She was married to John Blochlinger May 13, 1914 and is survived by her husband and 12 children, also her mother Mrs. Katherine Linne of Louisville, Ky.

CLYDE — Paul David Gunter, 54, Clyde, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Skaggs Community Health Center, Branson, Mo. Mr. Gunter was born Sept. 12, 1944, at Concordia. He was a Navy veteran and a biomedical technician for Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Concordia.

Survivors include a daughter, Kelli Ziegler of Las Vegas; two stepsons, Randy Nichols of Abilene and Kevin Nichols of Manhattan; his parents, George and Louise Gunter of Miltonvale; two brothers, Bruce of Frankfort and Gregory of Clay Center; three sisters, Lynette Rawlins of Cattawissa, Mo., and Trudey Girard and Sandra Girard, both of Miltonvale; and two grandchildren.

TROST, WALTER E.

CONCORDIA — Walter E. Trost, 83, Concordia, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Beverly Health Care, Concordia.

Mr. Trost was born Feb. 12, 1915, north of Huscher. He helped clear timber for a power line and substation in Bonneville, Ore.; worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle and Wichita; and worked on aircraft carriers in a Portland, Ore., shipyard. In 1947, he returned to north of Concordia and farmed for more than 50 years. He attended Concordia First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Georgia of Concordia; a daughter, Nettie Bray of Sterling; three sons, Gerald of Richmond, Texas, George of Topeka and Thomas of Concordia; five sisters, Lula LeClef of Brandon, Manitoba, Edna Peterson of Gresham, Ore., Laura Nelson of Wichita, Josephine Edington of Emmett, Idaho, and Betty Shaw of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, LeRoy of Wilsonville, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

MILTONVALE - Adolph L. Gunter, 61, Clyde, died Thursday at St. Joseph's hospital, Concordia.

He was born Aug. 22, 1907, on a farm south of Clyde. He was a member of the Miltonvale Christian Church, American Legion post No. 177 here, and was a veteran of World War 2.

Survivors are the widow, Margie, and a stepson, Dennis Hillan, both of the home; a brother, John, Miltonvale, and a sister Minnie Hardesly, Idana.

The funeral will be Saturday 2 pm at the Christian Church here, the Rev. E. A. Coates and Walden officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Center cemetery, near Concordia. Friends may call at the Phelps Funeral home, Miltonvale. (Salina Journal, May 16, 1969)

John Blochlinger Dies Suddenly

John Blochlinger, who lived west of Miltonvale, died suddenly while attending a baseball game near Meredith, Sunday. John had had a friendly scuffle with a friend when he dropped unconscious. He was brought to Miltonvale immediately but was dead before a doctor arrived. Mr. Blochlinger was 50 years of age.

He is survived by seven sons, Henry, John, Casper, Raphael, Paul, Albert and Melvin; and five daughters, Rosina, Ulida, Catherine, Louise and Mary; his mother, Mrs. Mary C. Blochlinger of Miltonvale; three brothers, P.J. Blochlinger of Concordia and Casper and Henry of Miltonvale; eight sisters, Mrs. Joseph Stenger of Wayne, Mrs. J. E. Reel of Miltonvale, Mrs. J.B. Neices of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Morris Holly of Delphos; Mary Blochlinger of Shiprock, New Mexico, sister Cletus of Hays and Clare and Ida of Miltonvale. Mrs. Blochlinger died four years ago.

Funeral services were held at Meredith Catholic Church, Wednesday morning. (Miltonvale Record, September 6, 1934, submitted by Maurene Miller)
