Jean Florence Langley, 91, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at
the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June
28, 2003 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Steve Chambers officiating. Interment will follow
in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Born July 11, 1911 on a farm near Newkirk, Oklahoma, Jean was the daughter of Jess and Julia (Hoskin) Ford. She
attended the OK school north of Newkirk. She married Walter Langley November 12, 1938 at Arkansas City. The couple
made their home in Newkirk and moved to Arkansas City in January of 1942. During World War II, Jean worked in the
cafeteria at Strother Field. She was a longtime babysitter and also took care of elderly people in Arkansas City.
Jean was also a homemaker.
She was a member of the Central Christian Church, V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, the 2:30 club, and
the OK club in Newkirk.
Jean is survived by her son, Jim Rommel and his wife, Pauline of Arkansas City; her niece, Rita Engle and her husband,
Vern of Newkirk, OK.; three grandchildren, Gary Rommel of Arkansas City, Vickie Rommel Rowe and her husband, Jeff
of Glen St. Mary, FL., and Peggy Whatley and her husband, Raymond of Arkansas City; seven great grandchildren;
and six great- great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter in 1974; one brother, Julian Ford; two sisters, Ethleen
Stone and Rita Birdsong; one grandson, David; and one great granddaughter, Terri Leibhart.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Diabetes Foundation or the Cowley County Council
on Aging and contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Fred E. Levick, 84, of Arkansas City was promoted to Glory on Thursday (August
9, 2007). Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday (August 13, 2007) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home Sunday evening 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Fred was born January 20, 1923, at Blackburn, Oklahoma the second son Ralph and Mattie (Houston) Levick. He was
reared and educated in many communities across Oklahoma and Kansas.
Fred served in the United States Army during WWII as a heavy artillery cannoneer and machine gunner, but spent
most of his time as a minesweeper.
He married Lela May Bell Donelson on April 5, 1942, in Arkansas City. The couple made their home in Arkansas City.
She preceded him in death in 1980. He later married Alice L. Belton-Irvine on June 6, 1987 also in Arkansas City.
Fred was a fifth generation brick and stone mason. He worked with Jim Lowry specializing in fireplaces. Together
they worked on many homes and other structures in Arkansas City. He was a longtime member of the Salvation Army,
former scout master and youth leader and volunteer for the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include his wife Alice of the home; two daughters Fredeana and her husband Don Windham of Haysville,
Shirleyne and her husband Gale Rider of Arkansas City; five step-sons Ron Irvine of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada,
Al Irvine of St. Louis, Missouri, Mike Irvine of Arkansas City, Jim Irvine of Plymouth, Michigan, Joe Irvine of
Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren Starla Clithero, Angela and her husband Major Tim Nesley, USAF, Gayle and
her husband David Ast, Anthony and his wife Candace Rider; great-grandchildren Rachel, Zachary, Hannah, Nathanael,
Bethany, Bryce, Acen and Trace; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren including Jon Irvine,
Becky Irvine and her child Nkosi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Lela, twin sons Larry and Garry Levick, two brothers Ralph
and Leroy Levick and a sister Shirley Jean Levick.
A memorial has been established with the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center of Arkansas City. Contributions
may be made through the funeral home.

Theodore F. "Dock" Lewis, 80 of Arkansas City died Thursday, September
1, 2005 at the Via Christi Regional Medical Center ~ St. Francis Campus in Wichita.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m, Friday, September 9, 2005 at the North Summit church of Christ in
Arkansas City. Mr. Wayne Robbins will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Theodore was born March 28, 1925 to Fredrick D. Lewis and Maggie Jane (Trice) Lewis in Langston, OK. He attended
schools in Winfield as a young boy.
On October 21, 1961 he married Amanda Barnes in Arkansas City where the couple has made their home since. Dock
worked for the City of Arkansas City, the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital and retired from General Electric Engine
Services as a mechanic in 1990. He later worked for Walmart in Arkansas City a number of years.
He was a member of the North Summit Church in Christ in Arkansas City.
Dock is survived by his wife, Amanda Lewis of the home; four sons, Winfred Stanley and his wife, Elaine of St.
Paul, MN, Napoleon Stanley and his wife, Linda, J.B. Stanley and Phillip Lewis all of Arkansas City; four daughters,
Tommie Jean Adams of Los Angeles, CA, Elvalene Bowles and her husband, Virgil, Neolamae Donaldson all of Arkansas
City, Kathlene Kabba and her husband, Abu of Moore, OK; two brothers, Bishop Chester A. Lewis of Tulsa, OK, LeRoy
John Lewis of Wellington, KS; five sisters, Flora Mae Walker Viola Clay and Arvenia Hughes all of Winfield, Violet
Clay of Fort Dodge, KS and Lucille Vanzant of Arlington, TX; 14 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren
and great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a daughter, Glenda Lewis.

Daniel Dee Lind, 68, Arkansas City, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at the South
Central Kansas Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at
the Memorial Lawn Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Daniel was born May 20, 1937, in
Arkansas City, to George Winfield and Marguerite Lillian (Thomas) Lind. He was reared and educated in Arkansas
City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1955. He later graduated from Arkansas City Junior College,
now Cowley College, and from Southwestern College of Winfield in 1959. Daniel served in the Kansas Army National
Guard for eight years. On June 17, 1978, he married Bobbie Rush in Arkansas City. Daniel taught art in Arkansas
City public schools for 33 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Arkansas
City, the NEA and the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of the home; one son, Ethan
Daniel Lind of the home; and a brother, Colonel Mike Lind, Arkansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Sara Ann Lord, age 72, passed away in Enid, OK, February 3, 2008. Funeral services will be at the First United Methodist Church in Arkansas City, Kansas, on Saturday, February 9, at 11:00 AM. Reverend Elaine K. Lord will officiate.
Sara was born December 8, 1935, in Arkansas City, KS, daughter of William K. (Bill) and Bolene Cope Lord, who preceded her in death. She lived in Enid since 2004. Sara attended elementary schools in rural Arkansas City and Uncas, OK. She was a graduate of Arkansas City High School and attended Arkansas City Junior College. She earned a degree in elementary education from Texas Wesleyan College, Fort Worth, Texas, and a degree in business from Business School, Omaha, Nebraska. After doing secretarial work for Western Union in New York City, she returned to teach at the same school of business.
She discovered that teaching elementary grades was her true calling and taught or served as librarian at various times in the elementary schools of Arkansas City, Washington, D.C., Omaha, NE, Souix Falls, SD, and Fort Worth, TX. Retiring from teaching, Sara served as secretary for the Central Christian Church in Arkansas City.
As an active member in the United Methodist Church, Sara enjoyed singing in the choir, organizing the church library, teaching Bible studies, working with special programs, and served in several offices in the United Methodist Women organization. She liked to play board games with her family and traveled extensively with them. She was creative with ceramics, sewing and cooking. As an avid reader, she had many interests; Bible history was a favorite.
In 1982 she married Don Arnett of Arkansas City, who preceded her in death.
Her survivors include sisters and brothers: Bonnie Britton Fleece, and her husband Charles, Granbury, TX, Thomas W. Lord and his wife Susan, Wolfforth, TX, David S. Lord and his wife Sally, Lawrence, KS, Elaine K. Lord, Macksville, KS, Lois L. Fox and her husband Al, Enid, OK, Jean L. Gough and her husband John, Topeka, KS. There are five nieces and eight nephews in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Florida.
Jolene D. Lundell, 56, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday (September 6, 2006) at
the South Central Kansas Regional Medical Center after a five and half year battle with Goodpastures Disease and
kidney failure. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday (August 9, 2006) at the Trinity Episcopal
Church. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Father Bob Lane will officiate.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Jolene was born December 20, 1949 in Henryetta, Oklahoma to Oliver and Norma Lee (Rush) Sweet. She was reared and
educated in Midwest City, Oklahoma, graduating from Star Spencer High School in 1968. She married Tony Radcliff,
they were later divorced. She married William Lundell on August 4, 1990, in Arkansas City. Jolene worked for Gordon
Piatt for five years, Montgomery Elevator of seven years and G.E. at Strother Field for thirteen years. Jolene
was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and friend. She also loved and was very proud of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Bill of the home; a son Jason and his wife Ronda Porter of Arkansas City; two daughters
Jennifer Radcliff of Arkansas City, Jenny and her husband Barry Rucker of Olathe, Kansas; her parents Oliver and
Norma Lee Sweet of Midwest City, Oklahoma; a brother Jim and his wife Lisa of New Castle, Oklahoma, Travis Sweet
of Midwest City; four grandchildren Heather Jordan, Haley and Kasyn Porter and Brynn Rucker.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Glen H. Martin, Sr., 84, of Arkansas City, KS died January 1, 2008, at his residence.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2008, at the Bible Christian Church. The
Reverend H. Dean LaVelle will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Glen was born April 22, 1923, in Wichita, KS to Archie G. and Arinda M. (Reed) Martin. He was reared and educated
in Wichita. In March of 1943, Glen entered the Army. He served his country for three years as a wrecker operator
and also served in WWII. He was honorably discharged in March of 1946.
Before Glen went to the Army he married Dora Zoedean Bay on February 12, 1943. The couple made their home in Wichita
before moving to Arkansas City in 1967. Dora preceded Glen in death in March of 1987. He later married Bonnie Sanders
Crow on June 14, 1987, in Arkansas City where the couple made their home.
Glen worked as a mechanic for KG&E for thirty years until his retirement. Glen was a lifetime member of the
V.F.W. and a member of the Bible Christian Church where he volunteered many hours mowing the lawn and working on
the new building. Glen also loved to build race engines, go to the car races, and spend time with his family at
the lake. He had many friends.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of the home, one son Glen H. Martin, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Stillwater, OK;
grandchildren, Regina Collins and her husband Kevin of Tulsa, OK; Debra Gauger and her husband Bryan of Stillwater,
OK; Glen Martin III "Trey" and his wife Tricia of Arlington, TN; Raechal Martin of Wichita, KS; Phillip
Martin of Winfield, KS; step daughter in law Vicki Crow of Altoona, IA; eight great grandchildren, three step grandchildren,
and one step great-great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Dora, two sons, David Martin and John Martin, two sisters
Esther Bergeron, and Vera Harder, and one step son Keith Crow.

William Loyd "Bill" Neal, 77, of Arkansas City, KS, died Wednesday (Nov.
17, 2004) at his home. Cremation has been effected and memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Bill was born January 29, 1927 in Kansas City, KS the son of Harold W. and Gladys M. (Chambers) Neal. He was reared
in Kansas City and Texas. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy.
Bill married Joy Fowler on September 10, 1946 they made their home in Arkansas City until he was discharged from
the Navy. After his discharge from active duty, he went to work in the oilfields and they lived in several different
towns in Kansas until moving back to Arkansas City in 1968. Bill then went to work for GE at Strother Field.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of the home;one daughter and her husband, Kathy and Rick Fogle of Arkansas City;
two sons, Don and his wife Raenna of Joliet, IL and Mike and his wife Wendy of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister,
Donna Neal of Houston, TX; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his Parents, one brother Robert Neal and one sister, Betty Wright.

PATTERSON, KENNETH WAYNE "PAT"
Patterson, Kenneth Wayne "Pat", 84 of Wichita, died Saturday, Feb. 05, 2005 in the Wesley Medical Center.
He was born, Feb. 5, 1921 in Arkansas City, to Jack and Agnes Patterson and was the grandson of Oscar J. and Rhoda Patterson, a pioneer family of Cowley County. He graduated from the Arkansas City High School in 1939. In 1944 he married Dorothy Fisher. She died in 1964. In 1968 he married Mildred Andrews. They were later divorced. In 1974 he married Reda Simmons. She died in 1991.
Pat was at Beech during WWII, going on to Houston as a Vice President of Cardwell. Upon returning to Wichita he rejoined the aviation industry and built Floair into one of the largest aircraft ferrying companies in the world, doing business with Beech, Cessna and Learjet, and was an accomplished pilot in his own right. He was a member of the Masons.
Survivors include: three sons, Ray Ryan, Valley Center, CA, Greg Simmons, Houston,
TX and John Patterson, Wichita; four daughters, Donna Patten, Carlsbad, CA, Pedie Flickinger, Crestview, FL, Debby
Simmons and Fay Shumaker, Wichita; grandchildren, Jimmy Taylor, Danielle Ozbun, April Crighton, Andrea Lankard,
Jason Patterson, Jennifer and Jami Forshee; great-grandchildren, Whitney and Michael Simon, Kalynn, Jessica and
Rebecca Ozbun, Tyler and Kaylee Crighton, Nicolette and Gavin Patterson; four nephews, four nieces and numerous
cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, two wives, brother Merle Patterson, one son, one granddaughter

GEUDA SPRINGS - Clela Jane Peters, 73, of rural Geuda Springs, died May 30, 2001,
at her residence after a battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Arkansas City. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn
Cemetery. The Revs. Steve R. Chambers and Harry Cunningham will officiate.
Memorials have been established with Central Christian Church and Hospice Inc. Contributions may be made through
Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home.
Peters was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Blackwell, Okla., to Hannah (Auldridge) and Emiel Klofkorn. She was raised in
Arkansas City and graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1946. She worked for Duvall Drug Store during high
school and later for the Arkansas City hospital.
On Sept. 24, 1948, she married Merle Peters in Arkansas City.
Peters researched family history and left behind a written record. She was a longtime member of Central Christian
Church and the WTL Home Extension Unit and was a leader in the Theaker 4-H Club.
A son, Fred Carl Peters, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Merle Peters, Geuda Springs; a daughter, Sandra Walker, Maple City; two granddaughters
and three great-grandchildren.
Fred C. Peters, 34, Republic Supply assistant manager, died Saturday, Sept. 20,
1986. Service 3:30 p.m. today, Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Funeral Home.
Survivors: wife, Doris; parents, Merle and Clela Peters of Geuda Springs; sister, Sondra Allen of Derby; grandparents,

Iva Jewell Ratliff, 86, of Arkansas City died Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the Presbyterian
Manor Health Care Unit in Arkansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 15, 2005 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas
City. Pastor Jackie Vogele will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Jewell was born October 5, 1918 to Charles A. Crist and Bessi O. (Smith) Crist in Shell City, MO. She attended
rural Appleton City, MO schools as a young girl. In 1936, she married Ed Ratliff and moved to California before
coming to Arkansas City in 1943.
Jewell worked at Rodeo Meats in Arkansas City, owned and operated The West Kansas Avenue mobile home park and grocery
store. She also owned and operated Jewell's Upholstery until her retirement in 1995.
She is survived by her sister, Fern Mefford and her husband, Harvey of Arkansas City; nephews, Charles Estes and
his wife, Joan of Oglethorpe, GA, Eldon Estes of Hutchinson and Alan Sharp and wife, Zana of Arkansas City; nieces,
Velta Gilmore and her husband, Bob of Arkansas City, Terry Clunn and her husband, Randy of Sapulpa, OK.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alberta Estes and nephews, Roger and Roy Estes.
A memorial has been established with the Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund. Contributions may be made through

Mary Elizabeth Rector, 83, of Arkansas City died Sunday, February 20, 2005 in
Arkansas City.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Arkansas
City. Dr. Richard Nelson and the Reverend Wade Graber will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn
Cemetery in Arkansas City. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22,
2005 at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born February 12, 1922 to Earl F. Burrell and Mary Elizabeth (Miller) Burrell in Dexter, KS. She
graduated from the Arkansas City High School in 1940 and continued her education at Wichita Business College.
She married H. Wayne Rector on July 27, 1941 in Arkansas City where the couple has made their home since. Elizabeth
was a riveter during World War II at Boeing in Wichita. She was also a homemaker and the financial secretary at
First Baptist Church for over 20 years. Elizabeth was a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive
Engineers.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, H. Wayne Rector of the home; two daughters, Judy L. Jones and her husband,
Jack of East Moriches, NY, Peggy S. Good and her husband, J.D. of Arkansas City; grandchildren, Lisa Koliski, Jason
Jones both of Mastic, NY, Jackie Jones of East Moriches, NY, Robert T. Proctor and Jonathan R. Proctor both of
Arkansas City, Sherian K. Jarvis of Tulsa, OK and Kelli T. Good of Brooklyn, NY and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters.

Claude James Rickords, 80 of Arkansas City died Monday, May 14, 2007 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas
City. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Claude was born July 22, 1926 to Cecil B. Rickords and Jennie (Calkins) Rickords in Maple City, KS. He attended
Arkansas City schools as a young man. Claude served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954.
On September 3, 1949 he married Roxie V. Elrod in Wichita where they made their home until moving to Arkansas City
in 1954. Claude worked for Local 606 ironworkers, Boeing, drove an activity bus and worked for Jim Henson Construction.
His hobbies include woodworking and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Roxie Rickords of the home; two sons, Dan Rickords an his wife, Donna of Woodland Park,
CO and Terry Rickords of Arkansas City; brother, Lindel Rickords of Arkansas City; four grandchildren, Heather
Dalby and husband, Andrew of Colorado, Springs, Co, Heidi Miller and husband, Tim of Boise, ID, Shelly Fortner
and husband, Trent of Arkansas City, T.J. Rickords and wife, Maggie of Wichita; great grandchildren, Archer, Steele,
Justice, Hunter, Paige, Darci, Braden and Blake; step great grandchildren, Heidi and Tavis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon, Cecil "Chub" and Kenneth Rickords; sisters,
Hazel Ytteroy, Ruth Fisher, Dorothy Powers and Doris Hall.

Christina S. Rippe, 87 of Manhattan, formerly of Arkansas City died, Sunday, July
18, 2004 at the Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 22, 2004 at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas
City. The Reverend Mark D. Boxman will officiate. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Christina was born March 10, 1917 to William Hoops and Rosie (Peters) Hoops in Shelton, NE. She attended schools
in Shelton and Byron, NE as a young girl.
On August 21, 1942 she married Louis H. Rippe in Byron, NE and the couple made their home in Granola, OK and Arkansas
City since 1944.
Christina was a homemaker and a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City.
She is survived by her son, Donald Rippe and his wife, Margaret J. of Manhattan; two grandsons, Bret Whitworth
and Brian Whitworth.
Christina was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter, Kathleen A. Whitworth.

George W. Roe Jr., 76, Grenola, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Via Christi/St.
Joseph Hospital in Wichita. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Miles Funeral Service
in Winfield. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, north of Arkansas City. Friends may call at the funeral
home from 5-9 p.m. today. The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m.
Born Feb. 7, 1929, in Byers, Colo., he was the son of George William and Marjorie (Gottschelg) Roe Sr. He was employed
with Northrup Aircraft as an electrician until 1975. The couple moved to Grenola, where George farmed and raised
hogs until retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Louise of the home; sons, James Dean Roe of Grenola, Dennis Lee Roe Butler and George
Wayne Roe, both of Newkirk; brothers, Donald Roe and Robert Roe, both of Grenola; eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clyde Everett Roe; and one grandson.
Memorials have been established for the Emphysema Association and the American Heart Association. Contributions

Fred William Rouch, 96, of Arkansas City, died Monday (September 13, 2004) at
the Medicalodge East Health Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday (September 16,
2004) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Rick Nelson and the
Reverend Mike Ronan will officiate.
Fred was born August 23, 1908 in rural Winfield to Henry and Mary (Glenz) Rouch. He was reared and educated near
Winfield and attended South Bend country school. Fred married Clara Mae Crites on January 10, 1931 in Wellington,
Kansas. The couple lived in Argonia for two years before moving to the Arkansas City area in 1933. Fred owned and
operated a farm east of town for many years and after retiring from farming he worked in the oil business for several
more years. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son Fred D. and his wife Doris of Arkansas City; a daughter Patricia Miller of Winfield;
six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clara in 1997, five brothers John, Henry, Ed, Frank, and Tom; three
sisters Mary Turner, Pearl Cummings, and Rose Muret.
Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church Bereavement Committee, and the Medicalodge East Health
Care Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
