OBITUARIES

EPP, OTTO ABRAHAM

Tribune - Otto Abraham Epp, 97, died Oct. 11, 2006, at Greeley County Hospital, Tribune.

He was born Aug. 13, 1909, in Harvey County, the son of John Herbert and Helena Ratzlaff Epp. He graduated from Hillsboro High School, attended Bethel College, and graduated from the University of Kansas, in 1932. He was the owner and editor of the Greeley County Republican Newspaper, Tribune, since 1933, retiring in 1994.

He belonged to First Presbyterian Church, Greeley County Historical Society and Salvation Army, all Tribune, the Kansas Press Association and the Kansas State Board of Education. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club in Tribune, the Greeley County Hospital Board for 45 years, past president of the Southwest District of the Kansas Editorial Association, and served as scoutmaster for Greeley County for many years.

On Oct. 3, 1937, he married Georgia Johnson in Tribune. She died Feb. 27, 1997.

Survivors include: three sons, David E., Derwood, Md., Dan M., Tribune, and John, Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Mary Jane Di Piero, Palo Alto, Calif.; a brother, Orlando, Honolulu; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugo and Waldo Epp; and two sisters, Martha Epp, and Hilda Crosswait.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. (MDT) Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Tribune, with the Rev. Charles Ayers presiding. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Tribune. Burial will be in Greeley County Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Greeley County Health Services or Presbyterian Church, both in care of the funeral home. (Hutchinson News, October 13, 2006)

CUNDIFF, NOAH B.

Garden City - Noah Bradford Cundiff, 6, died Oct. 6, 2006, at his home, Garden City.

He was born April 7, 2000, in Garden City, the son of Randy and Stacy Price Cundiff. A lifetime resident of Garden City, he was a student at Jennie Wilson with Ms. Barb Shull.

He belonged to Garden Valley Church, Garden City.

Survivors include: his parents, Garden City; two brothers, Cody and Cayden, both of Garden City; a grandfather and grandmother, Gerald Price and Donna Price, both of Tribune; an aunt, Judy and Brent Kinlund, New Mexico; and four aunts and uncles, Susan and Brad Sisk, Holcomb, and Peggy and Abby Munoz, Garden City; and several close cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Spencer Keith Cundiff.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Garden Valley Church, Garden City, with the Rev. Steve Prieb, Steve Ensz and Tim Davis presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price and Sons Funeral Home, Garden City. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Noah B. Cundiff Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home, Garden City. (Hutchinson New, October 8, 2006)

CROTINGER, JUNE G.

Tribune - June G. Crotinger, 87, Tribune, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at a Tribune hospital.

Mrs. Crotinger and her husband farmed in Greeley County from 1942 to 1959.

She was born June 13, 1914, in Morton County, the daughter of Fred and Clare Tipton Glenn. She attended high school in Syracuse and attended Wichita Business College. She had lived in Garden City before moving back to Tribune.

Mrs. Crotinger was a member of First United Methodist Church in Garden City and the Star Club of Garden City.

She married William H. Crotinger on July 14, 1942, in Syracuse. He died July 6, 1994. Mrs. Crotinger also was preceded in death by a grandson, Marshall Houk.

Survivors include three sons, James L. Crotinger and Fred H. Crotinger, both of Tribune, and Ronald W. Crotinger, Concordia; three daughters, Marsha Engelken, Vermillion, Mary Kaye Chandler, Holcomb, and Mavis Houk, Marshall, Texas; a brother, Reed Glenn, Wichita; a sister, Ethel May, Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Tribune. Burial will be at Greeley County Cemetery. Mrs. Crotinger will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Garnard Funeral Home in Garden City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greeley County Library, Greeley County Home Health, Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo or the Vermillion Ball Field and sent in care of the funeral home. (Topeka Capital-Journal, March 14, 2002)

CROTINGER, WILLIAM H. "BILL"

Crotinger, William H. "Bill," 76, farmer and rancher, died Wednesday, July 6, 1994. Services 10 a.m. Saturday, First United Methodist Church, Garden City; 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune.

Survivors: wife, June; sons, James, Fred, both of Tribune, Ronald of Concordia; daughters, Marsha Scott of Manhattan, Mary Kaye Chandler of Holcomb, Mavis Houk of Marshall, Texas; brother, Bob of Weskan; sisters, Emma Helmle of Johnson, Rose Bennett of Syracuse, Marie Miller of Lakin; 11 grandchildren. Memorial has been established with Garden City First United Methodist Church. Garnand Funeral Home. (Wichita Eagle, July 8, 1994)

KAPLINGER, J. L. MRS.

It was a sad mission on which J.L. Kaplinger went to Greeley county in the early part of last week. His wife, whom he left well at their place, a few miles north of Tribune, had suddenly sickened and died. Word of her illness was sent to Mr. Kaplinger, but it was directed to Millbrook instead of Wa-Keeney. her remains were buried before he reached there. They had no children. Western Kansas world.
