Obituary of LEROY ALLOWAY
Former Coffeyville resident, Leroy Howard Alloway, 62 of San Diego died Sunday (Oct. 9, 1988) in his home after
a long illness.
He was born Feb. 23, 1926 in Coffeyville to Hugh V. and Josephine (Ruttgen) Alloway. He attended school in Coffeyville.
Mr. Alloway enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and retired in 1973 after serving for 30 years. Following his retirement,
he worked in a civil service job at the Naval Air Station until his illness. On Feb. 16, 1965, he married Bettie
Barnell in San Diego.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Michael of the home, a daughter Kelly of San Diego; his mother of Coffeyville;
three brothers, Harold J. of Derby, Ralph H. and Glenn H., both of Coffeyville and a sister, Lorene Dillon of Coffeyville.
Graveside military services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Fort Rosecrans National cemetery.
The family suggests memorials to the San Diego Hospice, 3840 Calle Fortunado, San Diego, Calif. 92123."

Obituary of ELDON DUCKWORTH
Eldon Eugene Duckworth 57, of 101 Glendale Ave., died Monday morning at St. John's Hospital, Tulsa.
He was born Feb. 10, 1922 at Coffeyville to Roy
Ernest and Bernice Elizabeth (King) Duckworth. He grew up in Coffeyville and graduated from Coffeyville Junior
College. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and was discharged in 1946.
On August 22, 1945 he married Dorothy Margaret Schultz at Independence. After being discharged from the service
the Duckworths made their home in Coffeyville where he worked as an accountant for several Coffeyville businesses.
He began working as an accountant for Magic Circle Manufacturing Co. in 1970.
He was a member of First Christian Church, American Legion Post No. 20, president of the board for the Christian
Credit Union, served as an officer of the Coffeyville Chapter of the Credit Union and of the Credit Union District
No. 5.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Duckworth, Broken Arrow, Okla., one sister, Doris Chambers, 302 S. Glendale
Ave. and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ford Funeral Service Edgewood Chapel with burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Memorials to the American Heart Association may be left with the Ford Funeral Home."

Obituary of Abijah "Bige" Alloway
Oswego, Feb. 11, Abijah "Bige" Alloway, 74, whose home had been on the same farm north of Oswego since
the late 60's died late yesterday at the home of a nephew, Howard Alloway, near Altamont, where he had been removed
Monday. His death was attributed largely to influenza, although he never recovered fully from a paralytic strike
suffered several years ago.
Mr. Alloway had not been entirely incapacitated by the attack of paralysis, however, and had been able to work
and was a visitor here last Saturday. He was the last survivor of his immediate family and was unmarried. Mr. Alloway
was considred one of the wealthiest farmers in Labette County.
Surviving relatives include Hugh Alloway of Coffeyville, Howard Alloway of Altamont, Clarence and Clifford Alloway
of Bartlett and H. A. Martin of Wichita, nephews, and Mrs. Oscar Price of Louisburg, Kan. and Mrs. William Fouts
of Parsons, nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon the McAuley funeral home with burial in the Oswego
cemetery."

"A BABY DEAD - Harry Willis Ehrman, Jr. was born in Coffeyville, Kans. Sept. 12 1918 and died at the parents
home, 904 West Myrtle in Independence at 2 o'clock this morning.
Little Harry was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Ehrman who have lived here for almost two years past. The child
was taken to the Christian church hospital at Kansas City and an operation performed the first of last September.
After the operation he seemed to gain rapidly until about three weeks ago when there was a sudden change for the
worse.
Funeral services were held at Jackson's chapel at 2 o'clock today, conducted by Rev. F. L. Petit. Interment was
at Mount Hope."

Obituary of FRANCES TANNER ALLOWAY
Frances, daughter of John and Mary Tanner, was born in Davis county Iowa, September 6, 1861 and departed this life
on February 29, 1932 at the home of her son, Hugh Alloway, in Coffeyville, Kansas, aged 70 years, 5 months and
23 days.
In 1868 when but a small child, she came with her parents to Labette county, Kansas, locating in Oswego where she
grew to womanhood. On November 30, 1881 she was united in marriage to Jay Alloway and to this union were born six
children, four sons and two daughters. In 1912 she united with the Fairview Methodist Episcopal church and was
a faithful church worker until failing health kept her at home.
Those left to mourn are the four sons, Hugh of Coffeyville, Howard of Altamont and Clarence and Clifford of Oswego,
one daughter, Mildred Fouts of Parsons, ten grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Laura Sullivan of Oswego, Mrs. Sarah
Holden of Joplin, MO and Mrs. Kate Schroeder of Dearing and two brothers, George Tanner of Oswego and Frank Tanner
of Joplin. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond four years ago and one daughter in infancy. She was a kind
and loving wife and mother, a good neighbor and friend to all her knew her."

Obituary of BILL DILLON, JR
"William Mather "Bill" Dillon Jr. 79,of 912 W. 10th died Thursday (Aug 6, 1998) at Saint Francis
Medical Center in Topeka.
Mr. Dillon was born Feb. 24, 1919 in Independence to William Mather and Clara May (Emry) Dillon. He was raised
in the Independence area, attending the local school system.
After his schooling he entered the United States Army serving in Germany and France during World War II.
On March 12, 1942, he married Lorene Frances Alloway in Sapulpa, Okla. Mrs. Dillon preceded him in death on March
15, 1997.
Mr. Dillon was later called to return to the service during the Korean War. After his discharge, he returned to
the Coffeyville area where the couple made their home.
He began employment with Parmac, working there many years before moving his employment to Funk Manufacturing as
a machinist. He worked there until his retirement in 1983.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jolyn Stair of Phoenix, and Karen Gaylor of Topeka, 6 grandchildren and 1 great
grandchild. Burial at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery."

Obituary of Mrs. Bernice Duckworth
"MRS. B. DUCKWORTH - Funeral services are pending at Skinner-Hamlin
Funeral Home for Mrs. Bernice E. Duckworth, 71, Rt. 4, who died Monday at Coffeyville Memorial Hospital, June 20.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Born in Coffeyville on Jan. 1, 1895, Mrs. Duckworth was a lifetime resident of the community and was a member of
the East Brown Grange and the C.W.F. and Nozark Class of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Duckworth of the home, a son, Eldon Duckworth, 311 W. Martin and a daughter,
Mrs. George Chambers, 302 Glendale. Three grandchildren also survive.
Other survivors are two brothers, Russell King, Dewey, Okla. and Walter King, Rt. 2 and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth
Muir, 606 Linden, Mrs. Florence Hohn, South Coffeyville and Mrs. Harold Vivers, Parsons."

H. V. ALLOWAY, 75, IS DEAD
Hugh Valentine Alloway, 75, a retired refinery worker died at 11:05 this morning at his home, 606 East 9th. He
had been seriously ill since Oct. 5.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete. The body is at the Ford Funeral Home.
Mr. Alloway received his middle name from his birth date, Feb. 14, 1884. He was born on the old Denning ranch,
north of Oswego to the late Jay and Frances Alloway. In 1910, the family moved to a farm north of Bartlett. Alloway
was married to Josephine G. Ruttgen in September 1918 at Girard. They moved to Coffeyville in 1919 where he was
employed at Rea-Patterson Milling Co.
He went to work at the Sinclair Refinery in 1932, remaining there in the barrel house until retirement in 1948.
He operated a watch and clock repair service in his home.
Surviving are the wife of the home; four sons, Harold Jay, Wichita; Ralph, Duncan, Okla.; Glenn, 608 East 9th and
Leroy with the Navy stationed at Westminster, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Lorene) Dillon, 505 East 10th;
three brothers, Howard, Oswego; Clarence, Parsons and Clifford, Edna; a sister, Mrs. William (Mildred) Fouts, Parsons;
eight grandchildren and one step grandchild. A sister also preceded Alloway in death."

Obituary of LORENE DILLON
Lorene Frances Dillon, 77, of 912 W. 10th St. died early Saturday (March 15, 1997) in Coffeyville Regional Medical
Center.
Mrs. Dillon was born May 30, 1919 in rural Bartlett to Hugh Valentine and Josephine Gertrude (Ruttgen) Alloway.
She graduated in 1936 from Field Kindley Memorial High School of Coffeyville. She graduated from Coffeyville Junior
College in 1938.
On March 12, 1942, she married William "Bill" Dillon Jr. in Sapulpa, Okla. They made their home in Coffeyville."

Obituary - MRS. MARY DUCKWORTH
Mrs. Mary Belle Duckworth 74, died Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roy Whitson,
1511 South Jennings. She had been ill for several months.
Mrs. Duckworth was born June 12, 1871 in Chariton, Iowa. She received her education in Chariton and later moved
to Coffeyville. She came to Bartlesville 16 years ago. Her husband died on March 26, 1936. She was a member of
the First Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in Moore funeral residence. Immediately following the services,
the funeral cortege will leave for Independence, Kan., where interment will be made beside her husband's grave
in the Mt. Hope cemetery. The body will lie in state until the time of the services.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Whitson, 1511 Jennings and Mrs. H. H. Ehrman of Chanute, a son, Roy Duckworth
of Coffeyville, a brother, Fred Abell, Des Moines, Iowa and a sister, Mrs. Ella Lewis of Newton, Iowa."

Obituary of Marilyn Jean Alloway
"Marilyn Jean Alloway, 65, of 608 E. Ninth died Sunday morning (June 11, 1995) in Woodland Park, Colo.
She was born July 29, 1929 in Coffeyville to Ernest and Gladys (Webber) Lattin. She lived with her family in the
rural Independence area and attended Independence schools.
On Sept. 5, 1948, she married Glenn H. Alloway in Independence. Following their marriage they made their home in
Coffeyville. Mrs. Alloway had worked at Karbe Super Market in the early 1950s. For the past 20 years she has done
babysitting for families in Coffeyville.
Mrs. Alloway had been a Girl Scout leader and worked in Girl Scouting for the last 32 years with her daughters
and granddaughter. She had received the Girl Scout Thanks Badge which is the highest honor an adult can receive.
She was well known by her nickname in the Girl Scouts as "Alley Cat". Mrs. Alloway was active in PTA,
serving as president of the Lowell PTA and the Coffeyville PTA Council. She was also a life member of Kansas PTA.
Mrs. Alloway was an active blood donor for the American Red Cross, giving over 85 pints.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jeannie Lipe of Coffeyville and Terri Kuehn of South Coffeyville
and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 2 pm Friday in the Ford-Wulf-Bruns Edgewood Chapel with burial in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the First Church of the Nazarene or the Coffeyville Neighborhood Girl Scouts."

now of Lawrence, Kan., died Sunday, March 13 at the Sterling Heights Nursing Home in Lawrence. Services were to
be held2 p.m. Wednesday (today) at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale with the Rev. Bill Haselwood , pastor of the
Cherryvale Assembly of God Church officiating. Holt was born July 28, 1907 near Liberty, the daughter of Marion
Earl Barker and Adelia Tempa (Hamblin) Barker. She attended schools in Cherryvale. On July 4, 1923, she married
Drew F. Holt in Bartlesville, Okla. He died on March 30, 1989. True Holt moved to Lawrence in 1991 to be closer
to family members. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church of Cherryvale. Survivors include three sons;
Donald Holt of Springfield, Mo., James Holt of Fort Scott, Kan., and Jerry Holt of Cherryvale; one daughter, June
Wilson of Lawrence, Kan.; one brother, Bill Barker of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Edith McKain of Mesa, Ariz.;

HOLT, DREW F.
Drew F. Holt, age 84, 416 E. 5th, Cherryvale, KS,
died at 1:44 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 1989, at Mercy Hospital, Independence, KS shortly after entering. He had
been a resident of the Cherryvale Medi-Lodge Nursing Home since March 8, 1989. Funeral services were held at 2
p.m., Saturday, April 1, 1989 at the Darling & Burns Chapel with the Reverend Donald J. Anderson, pastor of
the Assembly of God Church, Cherryvale, officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction
of Darling & Burns Chapel. Memorial remembrances to the American Heart Association may be left at the Darling
& Burns Chapel. Drew F. Holt was born December 24, 1904, Cherryvale, the son of William H. and Minnie B. (Holeman)
Holt. He grew up in the Cherryvale area and attended school at Bartlesville, OK, returning to Cherryvale where
he worked in the Cheryvale brick yards. He began employment with the Frisco railroad as Roadmaster Track Maintenance
Supervisor, retiring at Fort Scott, KS, April 8, 1965, after forty-two years of service. He was a member of the
Assembly of God Church, Cherryvale, and was a lifetime member of the Roadmasters Association of America. On July
4, 1923, at Bartlesville, OK, he was united in marriage to True A. Barker. She survives at the home. Other survivors
include three sons; Donald Holt, Springfield, MO, James Holt, Fort Scott, KS, and Jerry Holt, Cherryvale. One daughter,
June Wilson of Lawrence, KS. One sister, Della Robinson, Grove, OK. Three half brothers; William Holt, Dumas, TX;
Max Holt, Reno, NV; and Paul Holt, Dalhart, TX. Two half sisters, Wilma Leahew, Dearing, KS; and Doris Winkle,
Longton, KS. Twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by one sister.

Alvin L. (Jack) Barker, age 64, 416 S. 5th, Cherryvale,
was pronounced dead on arrival of natural causes at Mercy Hospital in Independence Monday afternoon. He was formerly
employed with the Frisco Railroad until ill health forced his retirement in August of 1963. On October 16, 1909
at Liberty, he was born to Earl and Tempa (Hamblin) Barker. His family came to Cherryvale during his early childhood.
On January 15, 1938, he and Marcelin J. Benbrook were Married at Cherryvale. She preceded him in death on Feb.
18, 1969. Survivors include four sisters, True Holt of Cherryvale, Bernice Butler of Tulsa, Okla., Edith McKain
of Casper, Wyo., and Betty Henley of St. Charles, Mo.; one brother, William H. Barker of Albuquerque, N.M.; one
step-son, Bill Benbrook of San Pablo, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Burns Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Anthony Simowitz, pastor
of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Cherryvale's Fairview Cemetery. (The Cherryvale

Mrs. Alvin (Marceline) Barker, 59, Fredonia, a
former resident of this city, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 1969, in St. Margaret's hospital in Fredonia where she had
been a patient since Feb. 12. Death was attributed to a heart attack. She was a sister-in-law of Mrs. Drew Holt
and Mr. Holt of this city. Mrs. Barker was born Oct 25, 1909, at Latham, the daughter of George and Blanche (Bone)
Rorabaugh. She was married Jan. 15, 1938 to Alvin "Jack" Barker, at Neodesha, who survives. She resided
in Cherryvale with her step-father and mother, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hansen, prior to her marriage to Mr.
Barker. Surviving with the husband of the home is a son, Billy Bob Benbrook of San Pablo, Calif. Funeral services
were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Cason-Knickerbocker Funeral Home in Fredonia. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery
in Cherryvale. Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Henley of St. Charles, Mo., and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Butler of Tulsa and Mr. and
Mrs. Drew Holt, were among relatives attending funeral services. They left Saturday after visiting in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Drew Holt. Mrs. Henley is the former Betty Barker and Mrs. Butler the former Berniece Barker of

Mrs, C. L. Betty (Barker) Henley, age 53, died
Friday, January 5 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leanna Burnley at Spanish Lake, Mo. She had had heart trouble
for some time but death was unexpected. Mrs. Henley was born Feb. 1, 1925, at Cherryvale to Earl and Tempa (Hamblin)
Barker. She was a graduate of Cherryvale High School. On Dec. 22, 1944, she married C. L. "Jake" Henley
who survives at the home. Other survivors include the daughter, 2 grandsons, 3 sisters, Mrs. True Holt, Cherryvale,
Bernice Butler, Tulsa, Mrs. Edith McKain, Mesa, Ariz, 1 brother, William Barker, Albuqyerque, N. M. One son preceded
her in death. Graveside services were held Sunday, Jan. 7 at Scott County Cemetery, Scott City, Kan. (The Cherryvale

Mrs. Tempa Barker, 76, a Cherryvale resident since
1911, died Tuesday morning October 27, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. LeRoy Butler, in Tulsa, Okla., where she
had been making her home for some time. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Cherryvale
Fire Baptized Holiness church, Rev. Donald Hazelwood, pastor, and Rev. Eldie L. Smith, Independence, were in charge
of the services. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery by the Burns Funeral Home. Mrs. Barker was born December 15,
1887, at Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Alvy A. and Sarah (Uhland) Hamblin. The family moved to the Liberty
area in 1894. On June 24, 1905, at Liberty she was united in marriage to Marion Earl Barker. He preceded her in
death in 1937. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Bernice Butler of Tulsa, Okla., Mrs. Drew (True) Holt, Fort Scott,
Mrs. Lloyd (Edith) Mckain, Overland Park, and Mrs. C. L. (Betty) Henley, Fredonia; two sons, Alvin L. Barker, Fredonia,
William H. Barker, Travis Air Force Base, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three half sisters;

Mrs. Violet Barnett, 73, longtime resident of the
Altamont area, died Thursday at 12:10 p.m. in the Labette County Medical Center at Parsons. Surviving are two sons;
Vernon of Altamont, Ivan of Parsons; five daughters, Daqueta Shelly of Hillsboro, Leda Clark of Colorado Springs,
Colo., Cleda (Toddy) Hosfelt of Cherryvale, Mona Harris of Parsons, and Esther Johnson of Tehran, Iran; 2 brothers,

SLAYBAUGH,
JAMES C.
Word was received of the death of James C. Slaybaugh, brother of the late Floyd F. Slaybaugh. He died Friday Jan.
5. Mr. Slaybaugh was born and raised in Cherryvale. He was a meat-cutter by trade, having learned the trade from
Jack Majors, who with George Wells, owned Major's Meat and Grocery located on West Main Street, Cherryvale. Slaybaugh
moved to California several years ago and owned a large meat market and grocery storein Maywood, Calif., until
failing health forced his retirement. Burial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. under direction of the
Rice Mortuary of Maywood. Survivors include his widow, two stepsons, one brother and two sisters. A sister-in-law,
Hazel Slaybaugh and a niece Ilo Slaybaugh both of Cherryvale also survive. (The Cherryvale Citizen, January 10,

BARKER, ROBERT LYNN

Mrs. Tempa Barker, 509 West Fourth street, received
a message last night from the war department that her son , Pvt. Robert L. Barker, previously reported missing,
was now list as killed in action on invasion day, June 6. The first message containing the information her son
was listed as missing was received last Thursday. He had been overseas in Wales since last October serving with
the military police division and possibly, based on a hint in one of his last letters, was being trained for glider
invasion, He was inducted into the army August 10, 1942, at Ft. Leavenworth, receiving training at Fort Riley,
Camp Maxey, Sherman, Tex.; Camp Polk, La., and Camp Pickett, Va. Robert Lynn Barker, youngest son of Earl and Tempa
Barker, was born in Cherryvale January 31, 1921. He attended Cherryvale public schools, graduating with the class
of 1939. He was active in school affairs and played on the basketball team during three years in high school. He
was married here on July 3, 1942 to Miss Maxine Mae Cutsinger of Russell. A son, Robert Lynn, now 5 months old,
whom Robert had never seen, was born to them. Mrs. Barker and son are visiting in Russell at the present, but maintain
a home here. Robert is survived by his widow and son; his mother; two brothers, A. L. Barker of Servery and Lt.
William Barker now stationed at Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters; Mrs. Drew Holt of Columbus, Mrs. LeRoy Butler of Tulsa,
Okla., Mrs. Lloyd McKain of Independence and Miss Betty Barker of the home; a grandmother, Mrs. Anna Barker, and
an aunt, Mrs. Lela Lett of this city, and numerous other relativesliving away from here. He was preceded in death
buy his father, one brother, Ivan Barker, and a sister Miss Alice Barker.

Merideth G. Powell, 77, Coffeyville, passed away
Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at Medicalodge in Coffeyville.
She was born April 13, 1928, in Neodesha, Kansas
the daughter of Ernest Lee and Pauline Bryan Shetler.
Merideth was raised in Coffeyville attending Coffeyville
Schools and graduating from Field Kindley High School in 1947. Merideth worked as a car hop at Field’s Drug Store
which used to be known as "Diggs Inn". After high school, she worked at the Coffeyville Credit Association.
She later worked for the Coffeyville Packing Company as a bookkeeper and was also a waitress at the Dearing Cafe.
At the time of her retirement, she was working at Wal Mart.
She married Jack Powell in 1957. He passed away
November 2, 1994.
She is survived by:

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
one son Brian Powell in 1988 and one sister Marilyn Nelson in 2002.
A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February
18, 2006, at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service at the Penwell-Gabel
Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Merideth will lie in state from 1-9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the
family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry

POWELL, DEAN "MEATBALL"
HOWARD
Dean “Meatball” Howard Powell was born in Coffeyville,
September 9, 1929 to George (Jack) Grant and Goldie Ora Burris Powell. Following a battle with cancer Dean passed
away February 10th at Windsor Place, Coffeyville, at the age of 79 years.
Dean attended school at Whittier Elementary, Robbins Community School, Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from Field
Kindley High School in 1947. His special interests during his school years were the FFA Program and the Black Angus
calf that he raised.
Dean enjoyed farming with his father. He especially loved plowing the long fields that his father rented south
of the Brown Mansion. Dean worked at Farmland Refinery for 36 years and retired July 1992. He was a member of the
Operating Engineers Local No. 123. He was also active in the Robbins Community for several years, worked with his
children in the Dearing Bees 4-H program and served on the Robbins School Board for 1 year. Although he enjoyed
traveling, camping, woodworking and cooking the love of his life was his family.
He met Zelda Marguerette House at Cedar Bluff Camp when he was 17 and she was 16. Dean’s father died in the spring
of 1948 which brought Dean and Marguerette closer and they were married September 19, 1948 at Emmanuel Southern
Baptist Church.
Dean and Marguerette had three children and raised two granddaughters, Angela and Kimberly Sjolander. In addition
to Coffeyville, they lived in Older Parker District, Robbins Community and one year in Albuquerque, NM.
Dean was saved and then baptized at the Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church July 20, 1945. At the time of his death
he was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church.
Dean is survived by his wife, and sons, Roger Dean Powell (wife Sandy), Duane Howard Powell (wife Brenda); grandchildren:
Angela Sjolander Tickle (husband Jim), Kimberly Sjolander, Melissa Powell Malotte, David Powell (wife Shawna),
Latisha Powell Wood (husband Darrin), Brian Powell (wife Cassie), Jennifer Powell and Elizabeth Powell; 13 great
grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, and one sister: Donna Powell Wulf (husband Dean) and several nephews
and nieces.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Merideth Powell, his daughter
Linda Sue Powell Sjolander and her husband, Jerry and one nephew, Brian Powell.
Services will be held Friday, February 13, 2009 at Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville at 11:00
a.m. Rev. Richard Jenkins and Rev. Stephen Heslip will officiate. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel’s Restlawn
Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. to sign the guest register. Family
will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Southern Baptist
Church Kitchen Fund or Hospice of Kansas these may be left with the funeral home. (Submitted by M. Powell)
