Charles Alfred Barker, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Barker, was born at Delphos, Kansas, April 6, 1906, and died at Keyes, Okla., April 24, 1935, aged 29 years and 18 days. He spent his early childhood in Delphos with the exception of two years when his parents lived at Pryor Creek, Oklahoma.
On September 19, 1924 he was married to Miss Frieda Jameson of Glasco, Kansas. To this union three children were born: Guy Edmond, Nona Leone and Gerald Evelyn.
For three years they lived at Debeque, Colorado, from whence they came to Keyes, Oklahoma, where they have since lived. His wife was called to the great beyond on December 21, 1933. Since that time he and the children have made their home with his parents.
On July 4, 1934 he was united in marriage to Miss Lora Jeane Miller of Keyes, Oklahoma. To this union was born a daughter, Dollie Colene, on April 14, 1935. He leaves to mourn his untimely demise his wife and all the children; his parents, one brother, Varrel Barker, of Delphos, Kansas; four sisters, Mrs. Vola Antene of Delphos, Kansas, Mrs. Melva Foster, and Evelyn and Dora Barker of Keyes, Okla.; one uncle, Lloyd Smith, of Delphos, Kansas; six aunts, and a host of cousins and other relatives. He also leaves two grandmothers, Mrs. Nellie Anderson and Mrs. O.R. Smith, both of Delphos, Kansas. All of his immediate relatives were present at the time of his death.
His one great pride and concern in life was his family and doing everything he could to give them what they wished. He made friends wherever he went and always was endowed with an ambition to do well the job he had to do.
There are hosts of friends who will miss his joviality and presence from their midst.
The funeral service was held Friday, April 26, 1935 at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Keyes, Oklahoma, with the pastor, Virgil M. Hayes, officiating. His remains were laid to rest by the side of his first wife in Willowbar Cemetery.
