The last case to be tried in the district court, presided over by Judge Sturges of Concordia was the case of John W. Cowell vs Jennie M. Cowel. Mrs. Cowel was granted a divorce and the custody of the two children, 80 acres of land and $500 in mondy. There were forty-five witnesses in this case, which attracted a great deal of attention.
