Saline County, Kansas Obituaries


BARING, CLCERO POST
Salina, Kansas - Col Clcero Post Baring, who had the distinction of being the oldest auctioneer in Kansas, having cried sales for 40 years and sold the Shipton townsite October 20, died at a public sale on the farm of A. M. Steward one mile east of Salina, from heart disease. As he raised his hand to knock down the sale of a caw he said, "Wait a minute, boys," and began to sink to the ground. He died almost instantly. (Wichita Searchlight, December 25, 1909, page 3)


BAUBAN, BESSIE MARTIN
Mrs. Bessie Martin Bauban was born in Dary County, Ireland, November 9th, 1859, and died in Saline County, Kansas, October 26th, 1891, aged 31 years, 11 months and 17 days.
Deceased came to this country with her parents at twelve yaers of age and was married to William bauban January 10th, 1884. In early life she united into the Presbyterian church, though of late years she was a member of the M. E. Chuch.
She was always a consistent follower of Christ, expressing faith in him shortly before her death. About two years ago she met with an accident in Salina from which she never fully recovered, and from the affects of which she suffered much and finally died. Mrs. Bauban was highly esteemed by all who knew her for her many excellent qualitiies of mind and heart. On Wednesday the 28th ultimo, after appropriate religious services at the house, her remains were followed by a large concourse of people to the McQuary cemetery where they were temporarilly interred. Besides her husband and four children, her parents, a brother and sister, many friends mourn her loss, but "not as those who have no hope."

Braddick, Florence
Florence Amy Braddick, superintendent of Asbury hospital from 1921 to 1937, died Wednesday at St. Mary's hospital, Grand Junction, Colo. The funeral was held Thursday at the Martin drawing room chapel in that city, the Rev. A.P. Gaines officiating. The body was sent to Glasco, Kans. for burial.
Miss Braddick was born Feb. 14, 1875 in Tredworth, Glaucester, England, and was graduated from the Florence Nightingale hospital nursing school in London. She practiced nursing in England until 1920 when she came to the United States to join a brother, the Rev. B.R. Braddick, in Waldo. She became a naturalized American citizen Dec. 4, 1931. She was a charter member of Beta chapter, Delphia society, in Salina, and of the American Hospital association.
Miss Braddick, who went to San Fernando, Calif. when she retired as superintendent of Asbury hospital built a home there and continued as a private nurse for some time. She moved to Grand Junction in 1947 to join a niece, Mrs. Jess Heidrich and had lived there ever since.
Surviving are a brother, Raymond Herbert, and a sister, Mrs. Maude Mary Taynton, both of Glaucester, England.

Breer, Loretta
Loretta Breer, 58, cook, died Tuesday. Service 11 a.m. Friday, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Salina.

Survivors: husband, Robert, son, Larry, daughter, Roberta Dent both of Salina; brother, Stanley Leavendusky of Kansas City, Kan., two grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Hospice of Salina and St. John's Hospital, Salina. Gelsendorf Rush Smith Funeral Home.
