World War II veteran in Egyptian&African theatres. Married Mary Jo McGannon on June 14, 1948. Worked as a dispatcher for the M.K.T. Railroad for 27 years in Parsons and continued working in the transportation industry when the family moved to Derby. He was a two-term Derby City Councilman and served as Mayor of Derby in 1974-76. Retired to Parsons, then Mulvane in 2004. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, three sisters. Survived by wife of 57 years, Mary Jo, brother, John Daley, sons, Jim Daley (Cathie), Joe Daley (Susan), John Daley (Vicky), daughters, Mary Ann Truex (Robert), Margaret Myers (Mike), Kathleen Hanna (Mark), Jane Bedard (Steve), Julia Adams (Jim), Lisa Zachary (Rob), 29 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. DAME, HELEN

MULVANE - Dame, Helen, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, joined God on Saturday, December 1, 2007. She was born on April 11, 1920 in Miller, MO, to the late James and Alpha Chapman. She graduated from Grady High School in Grady, NM in 1938. Helen and her family moved back to Mt. Vernon, MO where she met and married Otho E. Dame on March 4, 1939. She retired from Boeing with 38 years of service in the blue print shop. Helen had many friends and always stayed close with her extended family. She was very proud of her son and daughter, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Helen is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Phillips and husband, Larry of Plano, TX; son, Richard Dame and wife Cindy, of Hoisington, KS; grandchildren, Greg Phillips, Aaron Dame, Stacey Dame Jackson, Jamie Dame Field; great-grandchildren, Skylar Phillips, Reagan and Payton Dame, Justice Jackson and Jacob Field. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Otho, elder sister, Thelma and her baby brother, Raymond. Visitation 2-8pm Tuesday, Senter-Smith Mortuary. ENGSTROM, MICHAEL D.

DERBY - Engstrom, Michael D., 50, of Derby, KS, Kirby Vacuum District Trainer, died Wednesday, August 24. A luncheon will follow the service at the Mulvane EMS Building, 910 E. Main. Mike was born on July 24, 1955, in Red Cloud, Nebraska, to Robert and Marilou (Bloom) Engstrom. After graduating from Red Cloud High School in 1973, he went on to Ft. Hays State University and received a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. He taught and coached for 6 years in La Crosse, KS. Then received a Masters Degree from Ft. Hays State in Administrative Education. He was involved in public school administration in Grand Island, NE, Crete, NE and Galva, KS. He is survived by his beloved wife, Deanna (Kisner), of the home, mother, Marilou Engstrom of Red Cloud, NE, son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Barbie Engstrom of Hutchinson, daughters and sons-in-law, Jaime & Ty Maltbie of Salina, Kristin & Patrick Hamker of Wichita, step-daughter, Sarah Lette of Derby, sisters, Kim Johnson of Red Cloud, NE, Pam Brown of Grafton, NE, and grandchildren, Tanner, Wyatt, Megan, Caden and Garrett.
