The Landmark, Statesville North Carolina
Near Pineville, Ky., last week a family of five persons were burned to death in their home. The house was fired by an incendiary.

CALL STATE TROOPS IN KY. MINE FIELD
    Pineville, Ky., April 9-Additional state troops arrived here this morning and took up patrol duty in the Turbulent Straight Creek mine section, following 24 hours of intermittent sniping and outbreaks of violent rifle fire.
    Practically every man and child had left the camp early today. Forest fires, alleged to have been started by union miners, were still raging this morning, the whole mountain range being a solid sheet of flame.
