Casey County was formed in 1807. Named for Colonel William Casey.
Formed from Lincoln County.

Located in the Pennyrile and Outer Bluegrass regions of the state.
It is the only county in Kentucky entirely located in the Knobs Region.

Liberty is the County Seat.
Liberty was established in 1806, becoming the seat in 1808.
The Liberty post office opened in 1814.
