COUNTY HISTORY

Clark County, Kentucky was the 14th county to be created from Bourbon and Fayette Counties in 1792. Clark county was established in 1807 and named after Gen. Green Clark (1757-1826) He was a military leader in the War of 1812 and he was a representative of Kentucky County in the Virginia General Assembly. He was also a cousin of Henry Clark. The county seat is Winchester.
