Be it known to all whom it may concern that we the Subscribers being hereunto duly called by a number of baptist professors in order to constitute & to Set apart as a Church or body of Christians destinct with full authority to exercise the gospel (illegible) Discipline we have therefore by the authority of Jesus Christ constituted and Set apart them as a church distinct and independant of all other Christian Societies to live do and act according to the word of God in all wisdom and prudance in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost three persons but one God forever Amen.

                    That we the baptist church of Christ on the bever dam creek was constituted on the principals of the Salem assosiation holding Believers baptism by immersion and the doctrine of Election and the final perseverince of the Saints.

The Rules of Discipline

Preamble: The bever dam Church of Christ Constitution for the Philadephia Confession of Faith with its _________?

1st Do agree that we open Meeting for business at Twelve Oclock, and that our first business be to Inquire of the Peace, and that the oldest reference of agrievance be attended to first and then (illegible)

2nd Resolve that our meetings for business be the (illegible) in each Month and that old matters of dealing be done Privately, that the church may Deem to be of a private nature

3rd Resolv that no members shall be recd into Fellowship withouth the unanimous Consent of the Church then present

4th Resolve that all matters that come before us shall be determined by a Majority except that of fellowship

5th Resolve that any Motion or proposition made not  meeting a Second shall fall, and that no Motion shall be debated unless first taken up by the Church

6th Resolve that each member when about to Speak shall rise from his Seat and address the moderator

7th Resolve that no member shall speak more than three times to one subject without leave, and if he deviate from the Subject in hand, shall be called to Order

8th (illeg) that Members speaking shall always avoid striking at the feelings of each other as such conduct is contrary to the Spirit of the Gospel.

Rules of Decorum

1st  We do agree that our meeting for Business be the second Saturday in each month and that we open meeting at Twelve Oclock

 

2nd Resolved that the oldest reference of grievance be attended to first and after that Inquire for Fellowship

 

3rd Resolved that no Member shall be received into Fellowship without the unanniumous Conset of the Church then present

14th Resolved that any member reflecting on the judgement of the Church Shall be called on by the Church to give Satisfaction for such conduct

 

15th Resolved that the Church Commune twice in the months of May September

 

16th  Resolved that any member Removeing out of the Bounds of this Church shall previous to their Removal call for a Letter of Dismission or Assign their reason for the omission

Sisters Helps to a committee

1st Sister Hinton & Brother Duwits business being called and the helps from Sister Churches came forward, the church therefore appointed the Brothren that came forward as helps in to a committee, and agreed to leave the whole of the dispute betwen Sister Hinton & brother Duwit to that committee, and the committee decided as follows (to wit) that Duwit was in fault & that his fault amounted to exclusion; But the church would not receive the report in consequence of Brother Duwit not being present

  1st The Bethel church being agrieved with us as a church & sent their agreivences with their messengers which business we entered upon & after Some investigation the church agreed to lay it over till meeting in course.
  2nd The church agreed to Send Benum Shaw, William Shaw, Mahu Harris & James Hornback to their next meeting of business to ??? for us as a church in order to bring about a reconciliation between us and them.

June 9th   The Church met according to appointment and after prayer proceded to business.
The grievance of Bethel settled 1st The messingers James Hornback and Mahu Harris which was sent to bethel church in order to Settle their grievances made their report which is as follows (to wit).  That we was rong in not receiving the report of the committee in that of Dewitts exclusion, and that we were rong in holding him in fellowship as long as we did to which the church recd the acknowligement as Sattisfaction
  2nd Sister Hintons business being setld the church being satisfyed. She was restored to full fellowship
  3rd The church agreed to give Sister Morning Stone a letter of dismission

Bro. Willis gave satisfactory acknowledgement of his rong to the Church ~ and also  the Church think that Bro. Frederick did rong in not obeying his master of which he acknowledgement  made Satisfactory acknowledgement for the Same.
Bro Rogers 2nd The Church appoint Bros. Jonathan Rogers, Philip Dale & John Morgan to talk with Bros Owen Willis & Bro Frederick as respects the differences now between them
  3rd It appeared to the Church that Bro Frederick did cast reflections on the judgement of the Church; Therefore, We cald on him to give Satisfaction, To which he did.

Dale, Rogers & Morgan report 1st  Bros Dale, Rogers & Morgan made their report as respects Bro Owen Willis & Bro Frederick  

The Church Say that Bro. Frederick erd from the rule laid down in the 18th of Matthew as respects dealing with members. 

Frederick Excluded The Church appoint Bro. J. Ramby to call on Bro. Frederick to attend to the Charge against him.  There was Charges of falshoods Exihidited against him and was proven to the Satisfaction of the Church – Therefore they Say that he is Excluded from their Body and Considered no more ofers.

Bro A Artman & J Morgan to cite her 2nd Bros Adam Aatman & John Morgan appointed by the Church to Cite Sister Peggy Taylor to attend our next Church meeting to answer to the charge Exhibited

Geo Oldham letter of Dismission 4th Bro. George Oldham Petitioned the Church for a letter of Dismission, and the Church Granted the same.

  2nd The Church agree to appoint Brethren P. Dale, L? Willis, & J Morgan cite Sister Rebeekah Rogers to next meeting.
meeting house 3rd The Church agree that there Shall be a Subscription for the purpose of Getting Subcribd     to fix the meeting house and that Bros. J. Rogers & Dale be appointed to See that for fix the Same is applyed to that purpose.

  The Church appoint Bro Dale as moderator & the Brethren that was appointed to Rebeckah       Cite Sister Rebeckah Rogers to meeting made their report.
Rogers Excluded The Church took up the matter as respects her and Say they Exclude her for abandoning our Church and joining the methodist.  So She is Considered no more of us.

a Charge of agreevence against Br Willis by Br J Bozarth Bro John Bozarth lodged a Complaint of agreevance against Bro Owen Willis and the Church agree to take it up and after deliberately weighing all Sircumstances together the Church are of opinions that the agreviance is not worthy of Dealing with Bro Willis and Br Bozarth Concern in the opinion of the Church.  John Morgan Clk
