James P. McClure Journal

Contributed by Barbara Ottis

Here's what Barbara Ottis says about the journal:

James Patterson McClure, called "Tinker Jim," was born 21 Nov 1847, the son of Green S. McClure and Martha Helen Morrison. Jim died 12 Sep 1925. Jim married 1st to Harriett Lucretia Taylor on 14 Jan 1869 and 2nd to Sallie Watson on 14 May 1908.

All I know about him is that he ran a jewelry store in Leitchfield and as people came into his store he would write down their information. This was all a hundred years ago so the story that was passed on to me might be a little different from the actual story.

The Samuel C. McClure listed is my great grandfather

Samuel C. McClure was b. 1 Jan 1827 in Grayson Co., the son of William McClure and Mary Elizabeth Cryer/Wells. He died 26 May 1903 in Grayson Co. He married Nancy Ann Carnes around 1850.
