Higbee, Pearl
Pearl Smith Higbee, age 92, died Sunday at her home.  She had been a Muldraugh postmistress, a private duty nurse, a nurse for Baptist Hospital Highlands and was a member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church.  Survived by a daughter Wanda P Higbee, 3 sons: Alan, Raymond, Walter Harris, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.  Funeral 1 pm Wednesday, W.G. Hardy Valley Funeral Home, with burial in South Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation from 1-9 pm Tuesday.


Pepper, Vera Gladys Hargan
Vera Gladys Hargan Pepper 72 of Elizabethtown, KY, died Tuesday July 27 1999 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.  A native of Hardin County, she was a member of the Cecilia United Methodist Church. Preced in death by her first husband Richard W Hargan.  Survivors include her husband Jesse O Pepper and a daughter Carla Hargan Strom of Louisville, a stepson Dennis Pepper of Henderson KY, a step daughter Mary Ann Burnette of Bardstown, two brothers, Millard and Walter Smith of Ratcliff, two sisters, Izetta Yates of Radcliff and Ethel Powell of Vine Grove, a grandson and three step grandchildren.  The graveside service will be at 10 am Friday at Hardin Memorial park in Elizabethtown.  Visitation begins today at 5:30 pm at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.


Smith, August
August Frank Smith, News Enterprise May 2 2003. 69, of Huber Heights, Ohio, died Wed April 30 2003.  He was a Hardin County native and attended Elizabethtown High and many government schools.  He was retired from the Air Force.  Boeing Military Airplane Co, in Wichita, KS and the Aeronautical Systems Division of Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.  He was preceded in death by his parents Clement & Thelma Smith.  Survived by his wife Patricia L Johnson Smith, a daughter Vicki L Marlow and Michael V Smith, both of Huber Heights, 3 step-daughters: Colleen Bevins, Carmen Klinger, and Caryn Thomas, 2 step sons, Craig Childs, and Chris Childs.  Funeral was at 1 pm Sat. at Newcomer-Farley Funeral Home Dayton, Ohio with burial in Riverside Cemetery, Troy, Ohio.

Smith, Clement
Clement Grover Smith, News Enterprise, March 3, 1942. 54 years old, died Feb 14, 1942, from pneumonia and heart trouble.  He was the son of the late Walter Smith & Mary Ellen Samuels Smith.  He is survived by his wife Thelma Ragland Smith and a son August Frank Smith. Also survived by 3 brothers, Howard, Warren, Herman Smith and four sisters, Mrs. James (Maude) Lee, Mrs. Jesse (Maggie) Stovall, Mrs. Ruby Brown and Mrs. Pearl Higbee.  Burial was in South Jefferson Cemetery.

Smith, Effie
Effie Angel Smith, age 70, of Radcliff, died Saturday at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.  She was a Hardin Co native.  Survivors include her husband Millard Smith, two daughters Elizabeth Gray and Vera Johnson, a son Wesley Smith of Stephensburg, KY seven grandchildren and a great grandchild. The funeral will be at 10:30 am Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Hardin County with burial in the church cemetery.  Conducted by Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral home.


Smith, Herman
Herman Smith, New Enterprise, Nov 5, 1946. Age 41 years, Died Nov 3 1946 at the home of his mother Mrs. Mary Smith, near Vine Grove.  He is also survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Sherrard Smith and four sisters: Mrs. Jesse (Maggie) Stovall, Mrs. pearl Higbee and Mrs. Maude Lee of Kansas.  Funeral services were held 2 pm Nov 5, at H.R. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev E Warren Rust officiating. Burial held in South Jefferson Cemetery.

Smith, James Lee
James Lee "Jimmy" Smith, 58, of Radcliff, died Wednesday at Ireland Army Hospital at Ft. Knox.  He was a retired painter.  Survivors include 3 brothers, Millard, Walter Smith of Radcliff, Wallace Smith of Alaska, 4 sisters, Mrs. Orene Underwood, Mrs. Izetta Yates of Radcliff, Mrs. Ethel Powell of Vine Grove, and Mrs. Vera Pepper of Elizabethtown.  The funeral will be at 2 pm Friday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral home in Radcliff.  With burial in South Jefferson (Bethany) cemetery.


Smith, John
Tues Jan 28, 1908, The E'town News.  Deaths: John Smith of West Point, died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maggie McCoy of West Point.  Died of infirmities of old age.  He was 88 years old and survived by a number of children.  Member of Methodist Church and active Mason. Funeral at West Point Methodist Church on Sunday.


Smith, Mary Samuels
Elizabethtown News Friday Dec 24, 1948. Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith, aged 86 years, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning at her home in Vine Grove.  Her death was due to natural causes.  She is survived by a son Howard Smith of El Paso TX and four daughters, Mrs. Maggie Stovall of near Elizabethtown, Mrs. Pearl Higbee of Louisville, Mrs. Laura Lee of Mamola KS, Mrs. Ruby Brown of NY.  She had 28 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.  Funeral services will be held at 11 am today at H.R. Taylors Funeral home in Vine Grove by Rev. Warren Rust, with burial in South Jefferson Cemetery.

Smith, Vera Johnson
Vera Angel Smith Johnson, 57, of Radcliff, died Sept 17, 2006, in Louisville. Born March 20 1949, a daughter of Millard E Smith and Effie Angel.  Preceded in death by an infant son, Hal Russell Smith, her parents, 2 brothers: Willie Leon Smith & Russell Smith.  Survived by her husband Harold W Johnson, son Harold Ernest Johnson, one sister, Betty Smith Gray, brother Wesley Smith of Cecelia.  Visitation Tuesday 6-9 pm at Nelson-Edlele-Bennett Funeral home in Radcliff.  Funeral services at 10 am Wed. at the Funeral Home with burial in the Pleasant View United Methodist Church Cemetery in Rineyville.


Smith, Mrs. Willie
Mrs. Willie Smith, 79, of Radcliff, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hardin Memorial Hospital.  She was a retired cook.  Survivors include four sons: Millard, Walter, and Jimmy Smith of Radcliff, & Wallace Smith of Ancorage Alaska.  Four Daughters: Mrs. Marvin Underwood, Mrs. Elmon Lee Yates of Radcliff, Mrs. Leslie Powell of Vine Grove, and Mrs. Jesse O. Pepper of Elizabethans.  A brother, Hobart Bailey of Park City, KY and a sister Mrs. Ethel Straney of Melbourne, FL. 19 Grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.  The funeral will be at 10 am Saturday at Nelson-Eldelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with burial in South Jefferson (Bethany) cemetery.


Smith, Walter
Walter Emmett Smith, age 75 years, died last night at his home near Radcliff of pneumonia.  Mr. Smith is survived by his wife Mrs. Mary Ellen Smith and eight children.  His daughters are Mrs. Pearl Harris, Mrs. Maud Lee, Mrs. Ruby Brown, and Mrs. Maggie Stoval. His surviving sons are Warren, Clement, Herman and Howard Smith.  Burial was in South Jefferson Cemetery.

Smith, Warren Emmitt
Warren E. Smith, 51 years, of Vine Grove, died at his home Friday.  He is survived by his wife Mrs. Willie P. Smith, 5 sons, Walter, Millard, James, Wallace & Anthony, 5 daughters, Mrs. Orene (Burton) Raine, Mrs. Nellie (Tony) Clark, Mrs. Izetta (Elmon Lee) Yates, Misses Vera Smith & Ethel Smith of the home.  His mother, Mrs Mary Ellen Smith near Vine Grove, 3 sisters, Mrs. Ruby Brown of New York, Mrs. Maude (James) Lee of Kansas, and Mrs. Maggie (Jesse) Stoval; 2 brothers, Herman Smith & Howard Smith of Vine Grove & 5 grand children.  Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Vine Grove Methodist Church by the Rev. A.N. Yancy, with burial in South Jefferson Cemetery.

Yates, Ruby
Ruby Izetta Yates, 82, of Radcliff, died Wed. Oct 30, 2002 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.  She was a member of the Radcliff United Methodist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband Elmon Lee Yates and a daughter Barbara Ann Hicks.  Survivors include two sons: Don Yates and Willie Eugene Yates, both of Radcliff, two brothers: Millard and Walter Smith both of Radcliff, a sister Ethel Powell of Vine Grove.  Eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  The funeral is 2 pm Sunday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff, with burial in the North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.  Visitation is from 6-8 pm on Saturday and at 1 pm Sunday at the Funeral Home.
