Filed with these marriage certificates were found several permission slips, written mainly on blue paper and in ink. Some few were on white paper written in pencil. Most of these were still legible. One of these permitted an intermarriage of kinsman John Todd to Susan Kelly (Oct. 18, 1855), and another gave a bound boy permission to marry the girl of his dreams, Leander Johnson to Jeanette Johnson.
