JUDGE
Duties
The county judge presides over the county court, the fiscal court, the juvenile court and the traffic court. He
receives no per cent of fines that he sets upon the offenders. The regular salary of the county judge is $225.00
per month. Each judge is allowed a substitute or judge pro tern, as he is called, for seven days per year. The
county judge receives $125.00 per month for clerical help.

COUNTY COURT CLERK
Duties
The duties of the county court clerk are to record deeds, mortgages, wills, affidavits of descent, settlement of
administrations, appointments of guardians and other documents of permanent record in his office. In addition he
pays all the county bills incurred and must meet regularly with the fiscal court. It is also the duty of the county
court clerk to prepare the county tax statements and submit them to the sheriff for their collection.
The clerk receives a base salary of $37.50 per month and $20.00 per month as bookkeeper. The remainder of his salary
is based on fees collected for the duties performed by his office, such as the issuance of various licenses and
the recording of documents of record. Licenses handled through the county clerk's office are: marriage, occupational,
vehicle, hunting, and fishing. He must pay for all of his own clerical help, his own postage, etc., pertaining
to his office.
