POWELL COUNTY GENEALOGY TRAILS
The
Hazel Green herald. (Hazel Green, Wolfe County, Ky.), June 10, 1885
J.R. Corder,of Mattoon, Ills., who is visiting J. Taylor
Day, at this place, has been visiting in Powell county for a week or more, and
has, since arriving in this country, secured several rich specimens of
silver. He exhibited a piece of "silver bloom" to us a few days since,
which he says is as fine as any evern seen in Colorado. He found it
between here and Powell county, but just were deponent sayeth not. He
leads us to believe from his conversation, however, that if "Swift's mine" is a
myth, the fact that silver is abundant here is a certainty. In company
with Floyd Day, of this place, Mr. Corder will tomorrow visit Swift's Camp creek
and investigate for himself, whether or not the silver indicated at other points
can be found there. [Submitted by K.
