SHELBYVILLE -- A 22-year-old Shelbyville
man was fatally injured yesterday in a traffic accident in Shelby
County, Kentucky State Police said.
Michael D. Johnson of 352 Rockbridge Road was pronounced dead at
5:25 a.m. at University of Louisville Hospital, about three hours after
the crash on Old Mount Eden Road. Police said Mr. Johnson was
southbound about a mile south of Shelbyville when his pickup left the
road and hit a tree. Mr. Johnson, an employee of Johnson Controls, is
survived by his wife, Lisa. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Hall-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today.

SHELBYVILLE -- Mary Bell Vaughan, 84, an educator who
brought the first state chapter of the Future Homemakers of America to
Kentucky, died Tuesday at the United Medical Center in Shelbyville.
Miss Vaughan, of Old Mount Eden Road in Shelbyville, graduated from the
University of Kentucky with a degree in home education and teaching.
She taught home economics at high schools in Shelbyville, Versailles
and Lexington. During World War II, Miss Vaughan worked with Kentucky
teachers to establish night classes for an adult education program in
homemaking. In 1945, she proved instrumental in Kentucky's becoming the
first state with a Future Homemakers of America charter. From 1967
until her retirement in 1972, she served as state director of the FHA.
Miss Vaughan was made a life member of the American Vocational
Association for her vocational work.
She is the aunt of Franklin B. Vaughan, Jr. Services are 3:30 p.m.
today at Shannon Funeral Home, visitation noon to 2 p.m. today.
Contributions are suggested to the Shelbyville First Presbyterian
Church.

Eloise Smith Bohn, of Shelbyville, died Wednesday at
St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was an owner of
B&B Ice Cream Co., Bardstown, and a former sales associate with
Spalding & Son Department Store in Bardstown, and Lawson's
Department Store and Wakefield-Scearce Galleries, both of Shelbyville.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Shelbyville
and Order of the Eastern Star Shelby Chapter No. 170, and a former
member of Old Kentucky Home Chapter No. 436, Bardstown. Her husband,
Frank R. Bohn, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Francis Roemmele Bohn of Brooksville, Fla., and
Joseph Allen Bohn of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Kathy Bohn Moore of
Edgewood; a brother, George Frank Smith of Simpsonville; nine
grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home,
Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 tonight at the funeral

McCormack was born in

county March 25, 1833, and was married to Mr. Wm.H.
McCormack, December 4, 1848. She was the daughter of Mr.
John B. Paxton, one of the
pioneers of
Shelby
county. The family is widely connected in
Anderson
, Jefferson and Shelby counties. She was the mother of nine children,
four of whom survive her. They are John A., of Lee burg,
Va.
;. Robert L., of Baltimore, Md, Mrs. Alice Hansbro Laird and Mr.
Charles B. McCormack, of this city, with whom she was living at the time
of her death. Her husband died at Columbus, Ga., in 1900. Mrs.
McCormack was of the highest type of Christian womanhood,
of high ideals and unswerving faith.
