African American History

Mr. Editor:—1 wish to inquire for my kin people. I left them in Campbellsville, Ky., about 1862, as near as I can remember. My mother at that time was Jeannette; she belonged to Thomas Johnson, and was of a bright color. Father was Milton Hasard, and belonged to a Mr. Hasard. I had a sister, Delcine, older than myself, of a bright color. Sisters Betsey and and Matildar were also older than I. I had an aunt on mother's side named Sisley, belonging to Dick Johnson. She married a freeman June Willis, a preacher at that time. I had another aunt Rosantha, who belonged to Dick Johnson. I was Lettie Ann Davis, but by marriage became Lettie Bird. Address me at Prairie Lea, Texas.
