Biographies

 

SHEEKS, W.H.-- Born in Wayne County, Kentucky, May 08 1822; died near Kirksville {Mo}, December 19, 1910.  During the fall of 1828 he was brought by his parents to Randolph County, Missouri, and there raised to his majority.  He was married in 1840 to Miss Mary Fletcher, and thereupon moved to Macon County {Mo}.  In 1849 he moved to Kirksville.  He was elected sheriff of the {Adair} county in 1855 and served for four years.  He afterwards moved to his farm in the county, on which he remained until about 1891, when he returned to Kirksville and lived from that time on in retirement.  He was visiting his daughter southeast of Kirksville at the time of his death.  Had he lived until the following Christmas, he and his wife would have celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary.
