Morton
E.
Duson,
the
eldest
son of
Senator
C. O.
Duson
and
Itsaura
Andrus,
departed
this
life on
last
Monday
night at
11
o'clock,
at the
residence
of his
parents,
near
Opelousas,
aged
about 22
years
The
deceased
was a
very
popular
and
promising
young
man,
and, at
one
time, it
seemed
that a
long and
prosperous
career
lay
before
him lie
was
enjoying
all the
advantages
that
doting
parents
could
afford
him, and
he had
about
finished
his
course
of
studies
to enter
upon the
graver
duties
of life
when the
fell
disease,
which
eventually
took him
off.
seized
upon his
delicate
constitution
and
claimed
him a
victim,
of the
pale
archer
death.
AH that
medical
skill
could
do,
failed
to stay
the
insidious
hand of
the
reaperdeath.
After
days,
weeks
and
months
of
uncomplaining
suffering
and
wasting
away he
faded
like a
gentle
'flower
and his
spirit
"crossed
to the
other
shore."
young,
"Whom
the gods
love,
die
young.
But oh
how
cruel
the
shaft
which
destroys
a young
life so
full of
hope and
happiness!
How
bitter
the pain
and
sorrow
that now
smites
the
hearts
of the
bereaved
parents
and
loving
friends
. The
vacant
chair in
mournful
silence
will
echo
back his
sweet
converse
and tell
of the
happy
hours
long
age,
when he
the lost
one was
at the
fireside.
Adieu,
dear
Morton
and
sweet be
thy
sleep
until
the
resurrection
morn,
when it
shall be
proclaimed
that
death
has lost
its
sting
and
parting
shall be
no more.
