The Daily Globe Dec 14, 1854 Shreveport La Details of a Horrible Crime--Description of the Perpetrator. Special Telegram to The News Shreveport La July 25, 85.— Monday evening near Sinnott, on the Texas and Pacific railroad, Natchitoches parish, Mrs. Grabble McLaghlin, aged fifty-four years, a most respectable lady, while returning home from a visit to a sick neighbor, was attacked on the road near her home by a negro, who knocked her off her horse and ravished her, and then beat her to death with a club. After accomplishing his terrible and dastardly purpose, the negro fled the country. He arrived here on the train yesterday morning, and in the afternoon crossed to the opposite side of tbe river in the ferryboat. Shortly after crossing the river, dispatches were received here requesting officers to look out for and arrest him. This morning a posse arrived hero in pursuit, but up to a late hour to-night no news of his arrest had been received. The negro who committed this terrible deed Is described as being very black, with Burnside whiskers, medium height, and weighs about one hundred and fifty pounds.
