"The historic St. Louis Cathedral was erected in 1718 by Don Almonaster Y. Roxas, a wealthy Spaniard, who donated it to the parish. Rebuilt in 1720, present building 1794. The tombs of the Marignys lie beneath the floor in front of the altar
Old St. Louis Cemetery, New Orleans
"The most interesting of New Orleans historic burial place -- the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1-there are three- has been in use for 175 years, with some ---- the inscriptions still decipherable dated 18-- Here lie the bodies of Paul Morphy, the famous chess player; Gayarre, the historian; --enne de Bore, who first made granulated sugar; Charles La Salle, brother of the famous explorer."

Pirates Alley New Orleans LA
Separating the Cabildo from Old St. Louis Cathedral
Through this alleyway, the pirates were taken to the Cabildo Jail, hence the name, also known as Orleans Alley, separating the Cabildo from the Old St. Louis Cathedral, it extends for one block from Royal Street to Chartres Street. Here the atmosphere of old France and old Cajun still prevails. At the corner of Pirates ??????? Royal Street, in the old days, a ???? the famous rendezvous for pirates ????? up the river.
Lacework in Iron, Royal Street, New Orleans, LA
Characteristic of the Vieux Carre of old New Orleans are the delicate traceries in cast and wrought iron embroidered on many of the old buildings. This old house at St. Peter and Royal is a good specimen.
