| Mrs. Ione M. Scott
Funeral services for Mrs. Ione M. Scott,
90, of Farmerville, LA, were at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 19,
2000, at the Farmerville First Baptist Church with Bro. David
Martin officiating. Burial followed at the Farmerville City
Cemetery with arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home. Mrs. Scott,
who died Wednesday, February 16, 2000, was a native of Ashley
County, a retired secretary for the State Department of Public
Welfare, a member of the Farmerville First Baptist Church and
the Ruth Sunday School Class, a charter member of the Union
General Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Order of the Eastern
Star, and a Girl Scout leader with the Silver Waters Girl Scout
Council. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H.
Scott, and a daughter, Jackie Jean Fischer. Survivors are a son,
Jimmy Scott and wife Beth of Spearsville, LA, a daughter, Becky
Damschen and husband Harv of Roseburg, OR; seven grandchildren,
four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Joe Schick, Stein Baughman, Jr., Fred Stewart,

Arvin Eugene Raborn, 46, of
West Monroe died Wednesday (Oct 18, 1972) of an apparent heart
attack while working on 1-20 one mile east of Choudrant
Interchange at at 4:15 p.m. It was reported that Raborn
complained of chest pains and sat down to rest then later got up
and fell out. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln
parish coroner Dr. Henry Roane.
Funeral services will be at 10
a..m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Rocky Branch
under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary Raborn of West Monroe;
one step-daughter, Mrs. Patricia Willard of Memphis, Tenn.;
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Love Raborn of Farmerville; two sisters,
Mrs. Ernestine Poland of West Monroe and Miss Linda Raborn of

Monroe resident died Monday afternoon after a lengthy illness.

Miller, 54, an equipment operator with Mid Louisiana Gas Co.,
died at 6 a.m. Thursday following a short illness. He was a
native of Union Parish, resident of the Rocky Branch community
near Farmerville, and member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Carter officiating. Burial will be
in Rocky Branch Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick's .of
Farmerville. Survivors include his wife Mrs. Elma Miller, Rocky

Henry E. Parks, 83, will be Saturday afternoon, 2 p.m., at the
Taron Baptist Church .with Rev. Larry Parks,Rev. Gray Nolan,1
and Rev. Lawson Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Rocky
Branch Cemetery under direction of Kilpatrick's of Farmerville.
Mr. Parks was a retired school bus driver with the Union Parish
School System. He died Thursday evening at the Union General
Hospital, Farmerville after a lengthy illness. He was a native
of Spencer and member of Taron Baptist Church. Survivors are his
wife, Mrs. Estelle Parks, Spencer; one daughter, Mrs. George B.
Case, Schwartz; two sons, William Harrel Parks, Spencer, Oliver
Wendell Parks, Rocky Branch; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Haacks,
Spencer, Mrs. Annie May Boughton. Mer Rouge; six brothers,

76 of Rocky Branch died at 1:45 pm in the Monterey nursing home
here after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m.
at Rocky Branch Church of Christ with Rev. Jurd Brantley
officiating. Burial will be in the Rocky Branch cemetery under
the direction of Kilpatrick funeral home of Farmerville. A
native of Union Parish, Mrs. Boles was a member of the Church of
Christ. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Olan Hayes of
Rocky Branch, and Mrs. Billy Joe Austin of West Monroe, and five
grand children and 13 great great grandchildren. Grandson will
serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Elizabeth Gates 48, wife of
Ervin Gates, Rocky Branch, Union Parish died in a local clinic
early Friday. The funeral was held at Rocky Branch Church,
Friday at 4 p.m. Interment was in a cemetery near the church.
Mrs. Gates leaves her husband and the following children: Mrs.
Evelene Tatum, Oak Ridge, Misses Shirley and Mary Lou Gates,
Rocky Branch, Ira Gates, White's Ferry, Robert Gates, Zelious
Gates, Raymond and Jack Gates, all of Rocky Branch. She also
leaves the following brothers and sisters: Marion Boles, White's

Services for Bobby Frank Dyer,67
of Rocky Branch will be at 10 am Monday, April 9, 2001 at Rocky
Branch Assembly of God with Rev. Eugene Brown and Rev. James
Mooney officiating. Burial will be in the Acree Cemetery, Point,
La. On April 6, with his family by his side Bobby passed into
the eternal life that our lord had prepared. In the midst of his
suffering, he thanked the lord for giving him the
opportunity, to express his love for all his
children and grand children and family. Born Oct 8, 1933 in
Point, La Bobby attended Downsville High School and was a U S
Army Veteran. An exceptional auto mechanic, Bobby worked for
Alert Auto Service before operating his own business Car Clinic
in Monroe. He was a loving father to those who had no father, a
devoted grandfather to "his girls", a caring friend a
selfless companion. His passing leaves an emptiness that can
never be filled in the hearts of the lives of the many that he
touched. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Delta Dyer,
his brother W V Dyer, brother in law Howard Stratton, and
special companion Kathy eppinette, he is survived by two
sisters. Nell McHenry and Elsie Stratton. One daughter Norma
Hines and husband Jerry. Two sons James W Dyer and wife Marcy,
and Danny Collins and wife Misty, six grand children and one
great grandson. He is mourned by four step sons and their wives,
Travis and Leolani Anderson, Gary and Brenda Anderson, Tommy and
Norma Weathers, Bubba and Pam Weathers, and one step daughter
Sue Weathers. Pallbearers will be Tommy McHenry, Jory Barley,
and Jerry Taylor, James Morris and Kevin Morris and Carl
Lindsey. Visititation will be from 1:00 pm til 9:00 pm Sunday,
April 8 at the Kilpatrick funeral home West Monroe.

Mrs. Sawyer was born September 7,
1932 in Ogden, UT and passed away February 3, 2006 in Monroe,
LA. Mrs. Sawyer was preceded in death by her parents William and
Merle Staker.
Mrs. Sawyer is survived by her
husband of fifty-five years, Ramsey L. Sawyer; son, Vance
Sawyer; daughter, Cynthia Sawyer Wanner and husband Bryan all of
Rocky Branch; grandsons, Lance Langley of West Monroe, Jonathan
Cascio, and Dustin Wanner both of Rocky Branch; granddaughters,
Crista Langley Tisdale and husband Ken of West Monroe and Becky
Sawyer of Portland, OR; great grandchildren, Bryce Langley and
Serenity Tisdale both of West Monroe and brothers, Bill and Hal
Staker of Utah.

L. Sawyer, USAF (ret), 78, of the Rocky Branch Community will be
held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2007, in the Pleasant Hill
Baptist Church in Rocky Branch with Rev. Ryan Chapman
officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocky Branch Cemetery
under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
Born April 8, 1929, in Rocky
Branch, MSgt. Sawyer passed away at his residence on Monday,
August 13, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his
beloved wife, Elda M. Sawyer; in February, 2006, by his parents,
Jordan and Josephine Wheeler Sawyer; and, by two sisters, Doris
Smith and Quell Russell.
An electronics technician and
missile systems analyst technician, MSgt. Sawyer served three
tours of duty overseas, two in Germany and another in French
Morocco, North Africa. He served in direct support of the Berlin
Airlift in Germany in 1949 and during war in Korea and Viet Nam
and also during the Cuban Missile Crisis. A member of the
American Legion and the NCOA, he retired with the rank of Master
Sergeant.
Survivors include his daughter,
Cynthia Wanner and husband, Bryan; his son, Vance Sawyer;
grandchildren, Lance Langley, Crista Langley Tisdale, Jonathan
Cascio, Becky Sawyer, and Dustin Wanner; three great-
grandchildren, Bryce, Serenity, and Lilah; two brothers, H. L.
Sawyer and Calvin Sawyer and wife, Cheri; and two sisters,
Trudie Mae Rosner and Inez Gray.
Pallbearers will be: Edward and
Charles Sawyer, Paul and Jimmie Chapman, Pee Wee Spillers, Coon
Jackson, and Billie Joe Russell.
Visitation will be Thursday
evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church in Rocky Branch.

Hughie Lee Sawyer, age 90, of
West Monroe died Friday morning, August 17, at his son's home in
Ruston of complications from stomach cancer. Visitation will be
held at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe Saturday, August
18; from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at
Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, at 2:00 pm Sunday, August
19, with interment following at Rocky Branch Cemetery, the Rev.
Dr. Bruce Willson officiating.
Born October 16, 1916, in the
Union Parish community of Rocky Branch, H.L. Sawyer was a true
American hero. He left home at the height of the Great
Depression, riding the rails to Texas and New Mexico, where he
worked in the carbon black and construction industries. At the
outbreak of World War II he volunteered for service in the Navy,
serving all over the Pacific theater, from New Zealand and
Australia to the Aleutian Islands. His destroyer, the U.S.S.
Wren, took part in raids on the Japanese city of Matsui in the
Kuril Islands, almost sinking in a typhoon after one mission.
His ship escorted the U.S.S. Missouri into Tokyo Harbor, where
he witnessed the Japanese surrender.
H.L. became a welder in the Navy,
and after the war he worked as a welder, first for James Machine
Works in Monroe, and later in his own welding service. (He was a
rare individual who both been a union member, as a carpenter in
the 1930s, and a small business owner.) North Louisiana is
covered with pipelines and gas wells that he helped to build. He
also worked as a millwright, and was working part-time well into
his 70s for Associated Business Forms of West Monroe. Always
vigorous, he stayed active well past his 90th birthday.
He is survived by a brother,
Calvin, and sister-in-law Cheri, and by sisters Trudiee Mae
Rosner and Inez Gray. Other survivors include his son, Dr. Lee
Sawyer of Ruston; his daughter-in-law Carol Sawyer;
grandchildren Benjamin Jordan and Elizabeth Mabel Sawyer; and a
son, Lee Roy Adair, by his first marriage. He was predeceased by
his wife Mabel, and by three sisters (Doris, Quell, and Bonnie)
and one brother (Ramsey, who passed away earlier this week). |

Virginia Marie Davis Meeks, 66, of West Monroe, LA will be held
at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Rocky Branch
Cemetery in Rocky Branch, LA with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating
under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe. Mrs.
Meeks died at her residence in West Monroe on December 11, 2005.
She worked for Cascio Enterprises for the late Richard Fontana
and Victor Charles Cascio. She is preceded in death by her
mother, sister, brother, husband and son.
Survivors include her daughters,
Cathy Romans and Mary Cavet; ten grandchildren and three great
grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM

Ella Mae Taylor Mrs. Ella Mae
Taylor, 96, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008,
at Landmark Nursing Home. Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday,
April 30, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Mark
Fenn officiating. Interment was in Wilhite Cemetery near Point.
Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home. She was
preceded in death by her husband, James E. Taylor of Point; her
parents; and her 10 siblings. Survivors include numerous nieces
and nephews. Pallbearers were Dan Walker, Louis Auttonberry,
Taylor Gray Roberson, Johnny Guice, C.P. George Jr. and George
Abbott. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Global
Impact Mission Fund, Providence Baptist Church or to the Fair
Park Baptist Church.

Hazel Mae Boles Mrs. Hazel Mae
Boles, 61, of West Monroe, passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at
St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Her funeral was at 10 a.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with
Rev. Jerry Hebert officiating. Interment was in Twin Cities
Memorial Gardens in West Monroe. Visitation was Monday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Boles; daughter,
Rhonda Aikens; son-in-law, Robbin Aikens; grandson, Jessie
Friedman; and brother, Jessie Levele McLain. Survivors include
her children, Loretta Steele, Patricia Schmidt, Rebecca Brown,
Cathy Boles, Jennifer Friedman, Stacy Moore, Michelle Boles,
Jamie Boles and Angela Speller; numerous sons-in-laws; 17
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with two more on the
way; sister, Carolyn Waltman; brothers, Ronnie McLain, Robert

Elizabeth Doss Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Doss, 86,

Spears Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Doss died late Sunday
afternoon at the Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston following a
long illness. A native of Anniston, Ala., she was a member of
Harmony Chapel Methodist Church. Survivors include one daughter,
Mrs. Pat Deason of Hico, one sister, Mrs. R.J. Fuller of
Shreveport; and one gjanddaughter, Mrs. Pat Stanley of Winnsboro.
Mrs. John Willie Colvin Mrs. John Willie Colvin, 84, of Dubach
died at 11:45 p.m. Friday at Lincoln General Hospital, following a
lengthy illness. She was a native of Vienna, La., and a member of
the Vienna First Baptist Church.in Vienna. Funeral services were
held at 2 p.m. Sunday March 25, at Kilpatrick's Chapel in Ruston
with Rev. D.A. Doughty officiating. Interment was in the Vienna
Cemetery under the direction o,f, Kilpatrick'p of Ruston.
