John F. Perkins,76, Drops Dead Tuesday;Rites to Be Sunday 19 Feb 1877 - 29 July 1952 John F. Perkins, 76,, of Green community, dropped dead Tuesday morning as he was about to enter Biggs clinic here. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock from the Herringville Baptist church.

Mr. Perkins who had recently been making his home with a daughter, Mrs. Vernice Pevytoe, died instantly of a heart attack as he muonted the steps of the north entrance of the clinic. Dr. T.G. Biggs Jr., said that death probably resulted from a heart attack and Dr. E.D. Butler parish corner, concurred, following his examination.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Perkins, Arcadia,Calif.; four sons, Charles and Allie, of Arcadia, Calif.; Roy W. of Jackson, Miss., Bishop, of Pioneer; four daughters, Mrs. R. Boatright, of Memphis, Tenn Mrs. Ruby Flannagan, of Okla. Mrs. Pevytoe, and Mrs. Mary Martin, Epps; three sisters and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

My Note: John Frank Perkins was my grandfather. He was born in Bardstown, Ark. the son of Henry and Mary E. Bennett Perkins.

MRS. PERKINS Oak Grove (Special) 16 April 1888 - 8 Feb 1965 Mrs. Julia Ann Perkins, 72, of Oak Grove, died here Tuesday.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Gay's Funeral Home in Oak Grove. Funeral will be at Herringville Baptist Church at Monticello and burial will be at Herringville Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Bishop F. Perkins of Malvern, Ark., Charles F. Perkins of Garland, Tex., and Allie C. Perkins of Los Angeles, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Rader Lambert of Lake Providence, Mrs. Ruby Flannagan of Stigler, Okla., Mrs. Vernice Pevytoe of Monroe, and Mrs. Mary Martin of Oak Grove,La.; a sister. Mrs. Vinie Sharp of Ark.; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

NOTE: Julia was the daughter of Johnny Mace and Mary Lucinda Hall Mace. She was born in Pinetree, Ark. just north of Forest City in Poinsett Co. Ark.

A.J. PEVYTOE, 85, BURIED AT REDWING 13 March 1881 - 3 Nov. 1966 Last rites were conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Green Baptist church for Allen J. Pevytoe, 85, of Fiske-Union, who expired Thrusday of last6 week at West Carroll Hospital.

The Rev. Frankie Jones, pastor, officiated at the rites and interment was in the Redwing cemetery under direction of First National Funeral Home.

Survivors include four sons, Rufus Pevytoe, of Oak Grove, Melvin Pevytoe of Marlin, Ore., Herman Pevytoe of Monroe, and Frank Pevytoe of Pine Bluff, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Troy Elliott of Waldo, Ark. and Mrs. Spencer Jenkins of Greenville, Miss.; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Greer and Mrs. Katherine Jenkins of Oak Grove and Mrs. Amanda Wicker of Whittier, Calif.; 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren

MRS. FLORENCE PEVYTOE 18 May 1889 - 24 March 1966

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Pevytoe, 75, who died Thrusday at the home of a daughter in Greenville, Miss. will be held at 2P.M. Sunday at Green Baptist Church with Rev. Frankie Jones Officiating.

Burial will be in Redwing Cemetery by First National Funeral Home.

Survivors include her husbband, Allen J. Pevytoe, Oak Grove;four sons, Rufus Pevytoe of Oak Grove, Frank Pevytoe of Pine Bluff, Ark., Melvin Pevytoe of Marlin, Ore., and Herman Pevytoe of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Troy Elliott and Mrs. Spencer Jenkins, both of Greenville, Miss.; a brother, George Holland of Canyonville, Ore; three sisters, Mrs. E.L. Russell, Mrs. S.P. Bennett and Mrs. Ruthie Orr all of Oak Grove; 28 grandchildren and 31 greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, Raymond Thrush, Francis Horton, A.B. McLemore, Walter Chandler, and Harvey Ritchie.

ALVIN ALLEN PEVYTOE Feb 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Jenkins and children of Greenville, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Pevytoe and children of Pioneer and Herman Pevytoe of Ringgold were called hame last Friday die to the death of their brother, Mr. Alvin Pevytoe.

MY NOTES: Alvin A. Pevytoe was born 12 Oct. 1908 son of Allen John and Florence Anne Holland Pevytoe. He was survied by his wife, Odell Hemphill Pevytoe and one daughter Mary Eloise Pevytoe; 5 brothers, Rufas, Clayton, Frank, Melvin, and Herman Pevytoe; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Jenkins and Mrs. Idell Elliott. Interment was in Green Corner cemetery.

Herman Lee Pevytoe 16 Nov 1923 - 4 April 1983 Herman Lee Pevytoe, 59, passed away Monday in Arcadia after a long illness. Services will be held at 10 A.M. Thrusday in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. M.F. Neathery officiating. Interment will follow in Redwing Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Herman Allen Pevytoe of Monroe, Terry Wayne and Mark Pevytoe of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five daughters, Mrs. Mary Neathery of Oak Grove, Mrs. Martha Kirkland of MacAllister, Okla., Mrs. Jackie Young of Monroe, Mrs. Carolyn Walters, of Arcadia, Mrs. Anna Howard of Muldrow, Okla; two brothers, Frank Pevytoe of Pine Bluff Ark. and Melvin Pevytoe of Heavner, Okla; two sisters, Mrs.Annie Jenkins of Greenville, Miss. and Mrs. Idell Elliott of Waldo, Ark. and 24 grandchildren.

Rufus Pevytoe

Services held Saturday 2 Aug 1906 - 14 May 1981 Services for Rufus Pevytoe, 74, were held at 2P.M. Saturday in the chapel of Kidder-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. David Ragland officiating.

Burial was in Redwing Cemetery near Oak Grove for Mr. Pevytoe who died Thursday in West Carroll Hospital after a short illness.

He was a life long resident of West Carroll Parish.

Survivors include a son, William Henry Pevytoe of Oak Grove a step-son, Albert Hemphill of Bastrop, a daughter, Mrs. Modine McGowan of Oak Grove; two step-daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Richey of Oak Grove and Mrs. Jesse Madison of McComb, Miss; three brothers, Frank Pevytoe of Pine Bluff, Ark., Melvin Pevytoe of Heavener, Okla and Herman Pevytoe of Oak Grove; two sister, Mrs. Annie Lee Jenkins of Greenville, Miss and Mrs. Idell Elliott of Waldo, Ark. 24 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Hursel Tyson, Raymond Thrush, A.B.McLemore Henry Nowlin, Ellis Hill and Harvey Richey.

Mrs. Ovie Pevytoe 5 Aug 1897 - 19 May 1965 Last rites will be observed today at 3 P.M. this afternoon for Mrs. Ovie Pevytoe,67, of Ritchie Community who expired at her home early Wednesday morning.

Services will be held from the Chapel at the Kidder- Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Alton Smith officiating, interment will be in the Redwing Cemetery. Mrs. Pevytoe had been a resident of the Parish for the past 40 years.

She is survived by her husband, Rufus William Pevytoe, Route 4, Oak Grove, two sons, William Henry Pevytoe of Oak Grove, Albert Hemphill of Bastrop, three daughters, Mrs. Harvy Richey and Mrs. Modean McGowan, both of Oak Grove, and Mrs. Jessie Mae Madison of McComb, Miss, 24 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and six sisters Mrs. Myrtle Jones of Lake Providence, Mrs. Ruby Mercer, Mrs. Jeanie McDaniels, Mrs. Allie Tillman all of McComb, Miss.,Mrs. Lizzie S. Traylor of Brookhaven, Miss. and Mrs. Daisy Wails of McKenny, Tex.

Pallbearers will be Harry Bonner, Francis Horton, R.R. Thrush, Walter Sims, and Harold Dosher.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. LUCY PEVYTOE ARE HELD TUESDAY

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the "old" Forest Cemetery for Mrs. Lucy Pevytoe, 87 years old, who died at the home of a sister, Mrs. Jack McClendon, Kilbourne, Monday. The Rev. J.E. Hearn, Methodist minister, officiated, with Walters-Dalrymple Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Her survivors include, besides Mrs. McClendon, two other sisters, Mrs. Jim Welch of near Oak Grove and Mrs. Ben Lawrence of Darnell; one son, Charles Pevytoe of Kermit, Texas, and three grandchildren, Mrs. Quentin McGaha, Miss Grethen Pevytoe and Miss Alice Jean Pevytoe all of Oak Grove.

Ernest Pevytoe May 1953 Funeral services were conducted this morning from the Catron-Gay chapel here for Ernest Pevytoe, 69, who died Tuesday in a Monroe hospital.

The Rev. W.T. Miller officiated at the services and interment was in the Forest cemetery under direction of Catron-Gay Funeral home.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Seleta Pevytoe; a daughter, Mrs. Bernice Clifton of Shreveport; two brothers, Albert Pevytoe of Arkansas and Allen Pevytoe of Oak Grove; three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Jenkins, Mrs. Maude Wicker*, and Mrs. Greer** and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Orrice Roswell, H.M. McMillion, J.C. Elliott, Frank Pevytoe, Lee Raymond, Bill King.

Final services held for Mrs. Fannie Pevytoe, 96 6 Dec 1883 - 15 March 1980

Mrs. Fannie Pevytoe, 96, passed away Sat. in West Carroll Hospital following a long illness.

Services were held at 3 PM Monday in Kidder-Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Woodard officating. Interment was in Old Forest Cemetery.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs. Bertha May Varner of Oak Grove, Mrs. Beatrice Hardison of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Evalee Atkins of Columbia, Mo., 3 sons, Arkla Harper of Klamatho, Cailf., C.A. Harper of Conroe, Texas, and Clyde Pevytoe of Crescent City, Calif., 40 grand- children, 57 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gerald Littlefield, Jerry Key, Jessie Abernathy, Louie Cleveland, Marcus Robinson, and Geravis Norsworthy.
