To the Editor of the Picayune:
At a large
and enthusiastic meeting held in the town of Floyd, parish of West
Carroll, Louisiana, on Dec. 24, 1877, for the purpose of encouraging
immigration to our parish, and appointing delegates to the represent us
in New Orleans, Jan. 14, 1878...
Hon. E.D. Hanegan was called to the chair. Ed. F. Newman was
appointed Secretary, Dr. J.M. Gaddis and Col. H.R. Lott were appointed
delegates to the convention to be held in New Orleans on the 14th of
January 1878.
On motion it was resolved that our delegates use their best
endeavors to encourage immigration to our State, and especially to our
parish.
On motion, the Secretary is instructed to
forward copy of these proceedings to the New Orleans Picayune for
publication.
