Capital Trial
At the late session of the Supreme Court of Maine, holden at Castine, Seth Elliot was convicted for the murder of his son, under two years of age, by cutting his throat from ear to ear. The deed was committed on the Sabbath, while the family was at meeting. The jury were absent about an hour and a quarter, and returned a verdict of guilty. The awful sentence of the law was pronounced by Judge Preble.
