Otis Bowden of Orland, Hancock County, was shot by his cousin Jesse Bowden, in the woods near Orland, October 20.  Both persons were in woods unknown to each other.  In a short time a deer was sighted.  Jesse aimed at the animal and fired a charge of buckshot.  One large buckshot struck Otis, who was crouching among the bushes.  The shot struck him in the back of the neck, just below the base of the skull.

Miss Waldo Richards of Boston, gave the most fashionable recital of the season at the Malvern Hotel, Bar Harbor, Tuesday, which over four hundred of the prominent society people attended.  Hon. John A. Kasson (?) introduced Mrs. Richards.  Mrs. W.H. Draper of Hopedale, Mass gave a large dinner party Tuesday night at the Dutch Cottage to a number of the diplomatic corps.
