Wedding Ceremony is spread over Three Counties

Maine Couple Married on Train in Six-Mile Dash through Somerset, Waldo, and Kennebec – Continue on Honeymoon Trip

Waterville, Maine, August 6 – Mr. and Mrs. Constantine Lyman Abbott of Palmyra have the distinction of having been married in three Maine Counties, after having started on their wedding trip from Pillsfield, yesterday.

The groom is a middle aged man, the bride a young woman, Miss Annie May Fellows.

They were driven to the station just in time to catch train number 90 from Dover to South Gardiner.  With them were the parents and brother and sister of the young woman and the clergyman who was to perform the ceremony.

Frank H. Fellows acted as best man and Georgia Fellows as bridesmaid, and the four stood up for the tying of the knot as the train pulled along over six miles and touched three counties,  Somerset, Waldo and Kennebec, in which latter they were pronounced man and wife.

Friends who had driven to Burnham came into the car at Clinton and give Mr. and Mrs. Abbott the usual dose of --- and congratulations.

Then the two went on their wedding trip rejoicing in one of the most novel wedding ceremonies ever held in Maine.
