KNOX COUNTY MAINE DEATHS

Closson, William

A sad drowning accident occurred at Spruce Head, Thomaston Saturday morning.   While the schooner, William Doughton was hauling away from the dock, the anchor chain, in some manner, knocked a sailor named William Closson from the deck into the water.  Life lines were promptly thrown, but every effort to rescue proved unavaling.  Closson, who belonged in Searsport was about twenty-four years of age.
