Lincoln County Deaths

BROWN, Benjamin, M.D.,

a surgeon in the Navy during the Revolution, and a Representative from Lincoln Dist., Maine, then part of Maschusetts, in the 14th Congress, died Sept. 17 at Waldoboro, Maine, age 75. (Oct. 7, 1831)

Rockwood, Angeline Horne

Death of a Pioneer:
Died in Centreville, Davis county (Utah), Dec. 1, 1902 at the residence of her son, M.P. Rockwood, with whom she has resided the past 16 years, Angeline Horne Rockwood., wife of the late A.P. Rockwood and daughter of Franklin and Sarah F. Hodgkins born in Friendship, Lincoln County, Maine in 1835, she married Moses Horne in 1844.  they with their three little girls embraced the everlasting gospel and moved to Nauvoo.  Brother Horne was one of the Prophet Joseph Smith's escorts when he went to Carthage, just before he was killed.  Her husband was killed by an accident while working for the Nauvoo Temple.  She was afterwards married to Albert Perry Rockwood in the nauvoo Temple when the exodus of the Saints took place, by whom she bore two children, a daughter who died in infancy and a son, M.P. Rockwood, now living.  She emigrated to utah in 1848, and endured all the privations and hardships of pioneer life, but was full of energy and untiring in perseverence and industry until overcome by old age.  She died as she had lived, having full faith and hope of a glorious resurrection.  She leaves three daughters, one son, 27 grand and 68 great granchildren.

The funeral services were held at the Centreville Tabernacle Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1902.  Speakers were Elders John E. Wooley, Loring Wooley, Charles Smith and John Ford.  Benediction by Joseph Ford.

The services at the grave dedicatory prayer was offered by A.P. rockwood.  The casket was covered with beautiful flowers and was borne to its last resting place by four sons of A.P. Rockwood and two grandsons.
