South Paris. Oct. 20.—Mr. and| Mrs. Fred C. Davis. Pine Street, quietly observed their 50th wedding anniversary. Tuesday A small family party in the evening, attended by their two sons. Lucien F. South Paris and Clifford H. Norway, and their families, was the only activity to mark the celebration A daughter. Mrs. Margaret D Pinkham. was unable to be present because of her son's illness Fred, a native of Fryeburg. and Alice Jewett. a native of Waterford, were married in Lovell Oct. 19. 1898. by the Rev. Charles H Young. . Shortly after the wedding, the couple went to Fryeburg where Fred assisted his father In carrying on the large farm After his father's death. Fred was associated with a brother for a few years in carrying on the farm and then he purchased his brother's Interest and operated i tact with the management of the Lafayette Hotel in Portland Fred received a contract to supply the hotel with all of its cream and milk. For more than a quarter of a century the Portland hotel served Its patrons with milk and ream that was sent dally from Fred's Fryeburg farm by stage and train. In 1920 he sold his two farms on Smart Hill and moved to South Paris where for the next ten years he was employed as a woodworked In the Paris Manufacturing Company plant. In 1930, he gave up his work at the Paris factory and was employed at his son, Clifford's grocery  store on Main Street. Norway. where he remained until two years ago when he retired. Since then he has taken it easy, working around his house on Pine Street, walking to the stores for the dally papers and driving the family car on short trips in this area Fred is 77. Mrs. Davis despite a visit to the hospital this month enjoys fairly good health. Shell be 68 in November-but she doesn't look it. She busies herself In her spare moments In a large flower garden at the rear of the Davis home. Mr. and Mrs. Davis have three grandchildren. Mrs. James Bryant. Miss Christine Davis.
