JAQUITH FAMILY

Abraham Jaquith, died 11/7/1676 Charleston, Massachusetts. He is listed in Whittemore's Genealogical Guide to Early Settlers of America, p. 285, Abraham Jackewish, charleston, Mass. Freeman, 1656.

Abraham Jacquith of Charleston and Woburn, Mass., was born 12/19/1644 in Charleston, Mass., died 11/14/1679 in Woburn. He married Mary, daughter of Henry and Tamson Adford of Scituate, Mass.

Abraham Jaquith, son of Abraham and Mary (Adford) Jaquith, was born in Woburn; died in Wilmington, Middlesex co., Mass. He married Sarah Jones, daughter of Hugh and Mary (Foster) Jones. She was born 7/10/1771 "aged 90".

Abraham, son of Abraham and Sarah(Jones) Jaquith, was born in Woburn, Mass. and died in Billerica, Mass. He married Hannah, daughter of Ebenezer and Elizabeth(Shedd)Farley. Hannah was born about 1705-6.

Benjamin, third son of Abraham and Hannah (Farley) Jaquith, was born in Billerica, Mass., married in Billerica, Mass. and died in Fitchburg , Mass. His wife, Phoebe Marshall, was born 1/12/1738-39 in Billerica, Mass. She was the daughter of Isaac and Phebe (Richardson) Marshall. Benjamin removed to Fitchburg, Mass. sometime immediately prior to Feb. 15, 1787, for on that date there was entered an order by the selectmen of Fitchburg that the family remove from that place.

Benjamin, son of Benjamin and Phoebe (Marshall) Jaquith, died 1/9/1819 in Rodman, New York. He married in Tewksbury, Mass., 11/10/1792 to Elizabeth Spauling, the daughter of Samson and Experience (Merrill) Spaulding. She was born in Tewksbury, Mass. 9/23/1766 . She descends from Edwrd Spaulding of Chelmsford, Mass., and this is not a Mayflower line. Their children were:
1. Amasa, born 12/8/1793
2. Abel, born 2/8/1796, married Lucy Pratt 3/18/1818, died 5/9/1882.
3. Joseph, born 12/7/1797, died August, 1872.
4. Cyrus, born 6/19/1799, died 5/19/1862.
5. Sampson, b.2/21/1801, d. 6/20/1874, married Louisa Agan.
6. Isaac,b.2/4/1803, d. 1/16/1862.
7. Phebe, b.3/4/1805, d. 3/10/1805.
8. Benjamin, b.6/8/180., d.10/15/1846,married Elmira Schofield.
9.Phebe, b.3/14/1808,d. 8/13/1887, married Joel Lamon.

Amasa, son of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Spaulding) Jaquith, was born 12/8/1793 in Heath, Mass. and died 6/1/1871 in Ohio. He married 11/6/1817 Lydia King in Rodman, New York. Lydia was born 12/5/1798 and died 7/8/1849. Amasa Jaquith was a private in Capt. Isaih Post's Company of Colonel Amaziah Tucker's Regiment New York State Militia, Was of 1812, served from 28 July 1814 to 21 August 1814.

Their children were:

2. Benjamin F., b.9/9/1820 in Rodham, New York.
3. Jesse, b.4/9/1822.
4. Wealthy, b.9/4/1824.
5. Tillison, b. 8/27/1828 in Watertown, New York.
6. Phebe, b.5/5/1831.
7. Sampson, b. 3/24/1833, d. 7/31/1891 . He married Mary Conner and they resided in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Their children were: William L. Jaqueth, who died about 1949., Lizzie, Amasa, Son(name unknown to compiler), Son(name unknown to compiler), Martha Louis, b.6/10/1840.

Benjamin F. Jaquith, son of Amasa and Lydia (King) Jaquith, was born 9/9/1820 in Rodman, Jefferson County, N.Y. He married 2nd Mary J. Valentine and had issue ten children. "Benjamin F. Jaqueth, son of Amasa and Lydia(King) Jaqueth, natives of Vermont and of English parentage. His parents were married in Jefferson County, N.Y. and migrated to Ohio inb 1848, located in Crawford County, and died at ages 78 and 50 years. Benjamin came to Ohio in 1843. He purchased 80 acres of land in Crawford County in 1845. He sold this and after several deals in real estate, purchased in 1868 in this township(Sycamore) 125 acres where he resides. He married 2nd Mary J. Valentine. He and Mrs. Jaqueth had 10 children, 8 now living--6 sons and 2 daughters. Mr. Jaqueth was reared a farmer and was also employed by the Ohio Central Railroad. His farm is well improved and he values it at $80 to $90 per acre. Politically he is a Republican-Prohibitionist." Thir children were (order not known):
1. Mattie, d. 8/25/1888, aged 29 yrs.,3 months, and 25 days.
2. Charles H., b.1855, d.1926. He married Mary E., born 3/28/1858,d.11/26/1898.
3. Effie V., d.8/2/1892 "aged 21 yrs, 9 mos. and 18 days.
4. Allen, a surveyor.
5. Walter--owned a greenhouse
6 Fern-died young
7. Abe-a surveyor. Served as U.S. Representative from Montana.

Tillison, son of Amasa and Lydia (King) Jaquith, was b.8/27/1828 in Watertown, N.Y. He died 4/2/1900 in Forest , Ohio, "aged 72 yrs., 7 mos. and 6 days." He married in Upper Sandusky, Ohio 12/9/1862 Mrs. Lucinda (DeVinney) Manley, widow of George Manley, and daughter of Samuel and Catherine (Harvey) DeVinney. Lucinda was born 6/27/1837 in Mt. Pleasant, New Jersy, and died 9/22/1890 in Forest, Ohio "aged 53 yrs., 2 mos., and 5 days."

Issue of Tillison and Lucinda Jaquith:
1. Martha Jane, b.12/5/1864, d. 5/25/1865,
2. Wilbur Kenneth, b.12/20/1871 Seneca County, Ohio; married Mary Phalon 6/21/1894; and he died 7/12/1949, Chicago, Illinois.
3. Rivers Burdette, b.11/12/1874 Hutchinson, Reno Co., Kansas.

Rivers Burdette Jaquith was the son of Tillison and Lucinda. He was born 11/12/1874 in Hutchinson, Kansas and died 1/1/1958. He married in Holgate Ohio 7/8/1903, Lolo Catherine Witzel, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Davison) Witzel., She was born 6/13/1879 near Napoleopn, Henry County, Ohio and died 2/28/1957. Tillison, Lucinda, Rivers, Lolo and Ledge are all buried in the Hueston Cemetery, Forest, Ohio.

They had issue:
1. Georgetta May, b.7/14/1904 in Holgate, Henry County, Ohio. She married first, Henry William Barnoske, 8/26/1928 in Forest, Ohio. Mr. Barnoske died 5/4/1958 and was buried in the Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw, Michigan. She married 2nd, Col. George Lavere Walker, 4/25/ 1959, Ft. Sheridan, Illinois; divorced Saginaw, Michigan 6/12/1961. Georgetta has taught for forty years in the Saginaw Schools. No issue.
2. Kenneth, b.4/2/1906 in Holgate, Ohio, married Mary Ellen marshall in Forest, Ohio. He was commissioned Lt. Commander--Navy, 15, July 1951, and retired 1 Nov. 1951. Lives in Toledo, Ohio.
3. Lincoln Ledge, b. 1/15/1915 Grand Ledge, Michigan; died 8/22/1933, Forest Ohio.
4. Rex Donald, born 12/11/1921 Grand Ledge, Eaton Co., Michigan.

Rex Donald Jaquith, the son of Rivers Burdette and Lolo Catherine (Witzel) Jaquith, was born 12/11/1921 Grand Ledge , Michigan. He married 10/12/1945 at Arlington, Ohio, Dorothy Louise Beach. She was born 4/16/1920 at Arlington. They reside in Port Clinton, Ohio. Their children are:

Janet Louise Beach Jaquith, b.5/22/1950, Bucyrus, Ohio.
JoAnn Beach Jaquith, b.9/19/1952, Galion, Ohio.
