DeFOREST PAINE
Lawyer; born at Albion,
Mich., Feb. 21, 1851; son of Asa Hammond and Jane (Hutchinson)
Paine; educated in public schools of Saginaw and for the bar;
married at Yonkers, N.Y., 1894, Sadie H. Burnstine. Has devoted
attention since 1896, principally to promotion of industrial
enterprises; organized the national Loan and Investment Co. of
Detroit and was manager of the company for ten years; largely
instrumental in consolidating the vehicle rubber tire business of
the country and in consolidation of computing scale companies;
associated with Sherman R. Miller Consolidated Gas Machine Co’s;
identified with a number of corporations as officer and director.
Democrat (independent). Episcopalian. Member Detroit Board of
Commerce. Club: Country. Recreations: Outdoor sports. Office: 820
