Trout Lake, Chippewa Co. MI

Ironwood Daily Globe 20 February 1930
Attempted jail break at the local county jail (Sault Ste. Marie) was frustrated in the making Tuesday afternoon when deputy sheriff Willard Welch discovered two hacksaw blades concealed in the sleeve of Lloyd Paukette, Trout Lake, held in connection with the mail robbery in January. The saws were found shortly after he had been visited by his wife Marie Paukette. Mrs. Paukette came to the jail to see her husband and was allowed to talk with him in the ante room of the jail. After conversing for a few minutes she left the jail and Paukette started back to his cell. However before allowing Paukette to enter his cell Sheriff Welch searched him, discovering the saws.
