The Newport Mining Co., which operates the Newport mine at Ironwood and the Anvil-Palms property at Bessemer, have made important improvements and much work is at present under way. At the Newport mine the Bonnie shaft has been completed to a depth of 2,560 feet and will be connected at this depth with the bottom, level of the Woodbury shaft. The mine is hoisting ore from two shafts. The Newport shipments this season will probably be less than, the shipments for 1918.

The company has provided ideal living conditions for its employes, and before the'snow flies the company will have added 22 new dwellings to their attractive location. The courtesy and comfort extended to employes by the Newport Mining Co. is second to none. Two diamond drills are active on surface at the Newport and are owned and operated by the company.
