ANDREW St. GEORGE , was an old man living in Erin, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and the DeFer Road. He was about 75 years of age, living alone in a shack, his wife dead, his two daughters married. The old man had been celebrating the coming of the robins, and was very drunk Tuesday. By some means he set fire to his shack, and everything burned except about a basketful of himself. An inquest was held by Justice Streb, but nothing developed to indicate anything but an accidental death. St. George leaves ten acres of lands.

PIERRE "PETER" St. GEORGE - There died in Erin Township, Macomb County, last week, a man who was at the time of his death without doubt the oldest person in the state. His name was Peter St. George, aged 106 years. Mr. St. George was born in Montreal, Ont., in 1784, and was a French Canadian. He came to Michigan when a young man and took up his abode in the woods, near where Detroit now is. He cleared of timber the land where the city hall stands and considerable more in the immediate vicinity. When the War of 1812 broke out, St. George joined the American forces and fought through the war. Mr. St. George was a strong, robust man in earlier years, and even in extreme old age he was noted for his vigorous physique. He was married three times and leaves numerous descendants. His third wife survives him. He was always bright and strong mentally, and to the curious interviewer was fond of relating his early adventures and telling of pioneer life.
