William F. Marz, 78, lifelong resident of Big Rapids, died Wednesday night in Community hospital following a prolonged
illness. He was born in Big Rapids August 24, 1881 and had been active in the community throughout his life.
He was a lifelong member of the St. Peter's Lutheran church and served faithfully on the various boards of the church.
He was well known in the area for his singing and musical ability and with his brothers, formed the Marz brothers quartet
that entertained at many functions. He was a drummer with the old Big Rapids city band. An ardent athlete fan, he
followed the fortunes of the Big Rapids Cardinals all his life and attended the state basketball tournament in Lansing
this year. He was an enthusiastic backer of the Little League. He was employed as a custodian at the Citizens State bank
for over 40 years. He is survived by one brother Paul Marz of Big Rapids and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services
will be conducted from St. Peters Lutheran church, Rev. F.W. Wiese officiating at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Burial will be made in Highland View cemetery. Friends may call at the Rogers funeral home tonight and until noon
Saturday when the body will be taken to the church.
