William Wellington Foster “Great Uncle Bill” he was the Brother of my grandfather Dale Theodore Foster and son of my great grandfather William Wesley Foster. Born in Evert Mi. he moved to Grand Rapids where he became a carpenter. I knew Uncle Bill as a great man. Uncle Bill lived on Hines Street for many years with his wife and his father William Wesley Foster lived with them. After the death of his father he moved on 60th street on the south end of Grand Rapids just east of Division Ave. across from the Townline School for many years until his wife died. Uncle Bill could not stand the thought of not having his wife around any more. He came to the Foster Christmas gathering at my parent’s house (Hubert & Pearl Foster) in December 1979.

I had always liked my great uncle Bill and went right over to shake his hand and wish him a Marry Christmas. I shook his hand not knowing it was for the last time it felt like the hand shake of a man of about 35 years old yet he was 88. In my eyes he was a great man a gentle man that always had kind words to say. My Great uncle Bill (William Wellington Foster) was truly a great man. The family believes he died mostly of a broken heart after loosing his wife Elizabeth. William Wellington Foster Born 14 Jan. 1891 in Keen Township, Ionia County, Michigan died 3 Apr. 1980 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan. He was married Dec. 29 1920
