CARPENTER, Virginia Ellen, age 71, of Mio, MI, died December 2nd, 2008 at Mercy Hospital, Grayling, Michigan. Virginia Gray was born Midland, Michigan, to the late Ervin Clare and Norma (Baird) Gray on December 14, 1936. She graduated from Midland High School and also The Midland School of Nursing and Mott College She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse through Home Health Care in Midland. She had lived in Corunna and Flint, MI. before moving to Mio 15 years ago. Virginia was a member of the Mio Senior Center and The Mio Dart League. She enjoyed darts and playing cards. Virginia was married twice. She first married David H. Braley. Then, as Virginia Braley, she married Harvey Carpenter. She was survived by her daughter Sue Braley-Cox of Mio; her son David Braley of Flint and her sister Carol (Ernie) Gibson of San Antonio, Texas. She was also survived by 10 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; first husband David H. Braley formerly of Corunna, MI.; her second husband Harvey Carpenter; son Jim Braley and daughter Laura Tedhams. Arrangements by Lashley Funeral Home, Inc.

CHICA, Arnold Bernard, age 75, of Mio, Michigan, passed away May 12th, 2008 at West Branch Regional Medical Center. Arnold Chicha, known as "Chico," was born on January 2, 1933 in Detroit to the late John & Freda (Mohr) Chicha. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later moved to Mio, where he worked for and retired from The Michigan State Highway Department. He was a charter member of The Mio Dummy Club, a member of The Comins Eagles Club, The Bonehead Hunting Club, was a driver for The Amish Community and had played baseball on leagues in Comins and enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching all kinds of sports. Chico Chicha was survived by his long time companion Mary Ann Dierck; his children: Brian Chicha of Williamsburg; Craig (Tavia) Chicha of Fairview and Linda (Jay) Jagiello of Mio; Stepchildren: Mike Dierck of Carleton, OR; Karin Bowers of Mio and Darin Dierck of Mio. a sister, Mary Ann (Ed) Strynowski of Mount Clemens, MI; 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother: John Chicha. He will be remembered as a great and loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
